Another helpful suggestion from yours truely.
Really its only popping up cause I consider it to be EXTREMELY rude when it happens. And its happened a few times to me here. Imagine this situation if you will. You and person A are in a thread. Threads going fine, then suddenly person A, perhaps distracted by a shiney object. Stops posting in that thread. Now thats fine. You drop them a reminder. But what if even after that reminder they just continue to ignore the thread posting elsewhere. Whilst in the meantime you are staring at a thread which has gone down the gutter. They don't even have the decency to leave the thread and finish it. Just hold it up indefinatly.
Now Nightmare rewards completed threads right?
So my suggestion is to, for lack of a better term. Punish stagnant ones. Concerning this, I think its simple enough. Give a person a period of say. Two weeks to post. Note in this time they have to still be posting on the site, otherwise it could be IRL related therefore unfair to punish. So if this trend continues, you have reminded them. Then you pop a PM. Declare the thread inactive. Bang. Negative rupee count for the person who failed to post. And the thread is archieved.
lol, honestly I'm kind of looking forward to seeing just what kind of logic my opposition will be using this time. If indeed. Any.

It is always an abominably stupid idea to enact a policy where things will be taken away from members if they don't abide by rules. It's not fun, more of a headache for staff, and it's only punitive.

lol, hold up so lemmie get this right. You disagree with punishing members over not following any of the rules? Wow. Nice. Really. Anarchy ftw dude.
Nor is being stood up on a thread.
As things stand, staff have to give + rupees for finished threads. Taking them away isn't going to be any more of a task. Unless of course you mean from the general whining of the person effected.

I'm aware.
Anyway, a genuine problem would be determining why they aren't posting. I'll put it this way. There have been threads made for the Princesses without their permission. By your logic, I would have to punish the princesses for not posting to a thread they never agreed to.
Meaning I would have to interrogate everyone involved each time this came up.

First: when it's just a thing that doesn't really affect the proper functioning of the site, yeah. There have to be rules, but this is a leisure site, not a police state. People will leave if there are dickrules. Second: being stood up on a thread happens to all of us. Third: Who taught you math? It will be more work for the staff. Period. As they already have their plates full as is, doing this, which is only a mean-spirited thing that's impossible to police, won't help. Also, sometimes you just don't want to be in a thread with people. People have started threads for canon characters and whatnot without asking the characters involved. Should we punish those people? As a general rule this is just dumb and mean-spirited. EDIT: Welp, Night made the same point I did. Okay, let's perform a thought-experiment: What kind of site do you have where you feel like the staff, or other impatient members, will punish you if you don't keep up some sort of rigorous commitment to each thread you're involved in? A site where people leave.

Now thats a decent arguement!
Or it would have been. If my playthrough didn't involve the thread actually progressing beyond the introduction. Whilst I agree this shouldn't occur for people who just had threads made for them spontaniously without agreeing to be in it. Those who post within and then just up and stop. Not having the decency to even leave the thread. Different matter.

I dislike. People have IRL problems and stuff happens, I don't mind waiting a 2 week period for someone to get their shit together so we can continue the thread. Punishing them is just gonna be a hassle, and ultimately there is no point in it other than to Nazi activity, and a leisurely rp site is more pleasant than having restrictions shoved down your throat, and etc.
I support Freedom's statement.
EDIT: I posted this before reading Freedom's last statement, and I also agree with what he says there to.

Not having the decency to even leave the thread. Different matter. Now THAT will be a hell of a lot of work for staff. Plumbing through each and every old thread to decide if A) the members really aren't posting, B), if they got far enough into them, C) if the member who isn't posting wasn't really asked to be in the thread, and D) pissing off people you're taking away rupees from will just be a big pile of shit for staff to wade in.

Honestly though, if you have an issue with someone not posting in a thread, handle it with that person. There's really no need to call the staff in and take away something (which, by the way, I'm fairly sure some people on this site couldn't care less about) because someone's being a bit slow.
Also, real life & lack of muse are legitimate reasons for one not to post. Not to mention when people (like me) have ridiculous amounts of characters & threads, it can be a bit difficult to keep up with them all.
Idgaf if my rupees get taken away 'cause I'm slow, honestly. If anything, that just gives me even less incentive to post, because I can be a spiteful bitch like that.
Just saying. Negative reinforcement is not always the way to go.

I think the bottom line is that it is, as Freedom said, Mean Spirited. Its a bitter way of thinking about it.
Toast also makes a good point.

Now you're just being a passive-aggressive troll. Starting sentences with "lol" makes your arguments no more or less cogent. I've had my say.
