but he will react, even if it's small to things that most people normally wouldn't pick up on. If you tell him your parents are dead, he won't react like a normal person. He'll instead mock you relentlessly, and declare that he has dealt with dead parents so many times it's gotten old.
He's also a bit of a motor mouth. If he has the chance, he will talk and talk and talk with the utter inability to shut up. He also tends to be somewhat polite most of the time. Even it's during a contract, he'll be polite, and maybe have a bit of friendliness. The phrase "Hello! This is the part where I kill you!" probably isn't too far off the mark.
Frankly put. You either love him or hate him.[/ul][/blockquote]
APPEARANCE,
Due to the fact that he himself crafts his human appearance whenever he takes his form, Nightmare has a bit of a boost to his human appearance. To be frank, Nightmare is nothing short of otherworldly, with looks that would give a certain Hylian Hero a run for his money. With somewhat fair, lightly colored skin, with blue eyes and blonde hair, he completes it all with a nicely toned body. He stands at a fairly decent height of 6'0 and weighs in at 72 kg. With all this, Nightmare looks like he came right out of a bishoujo anime.
This is what Nightmare wears out of battle and at formal occasions. It's a simple brown shirt with a dark brown vest overlaying it. The vest is bound to the shirt with a simple belt, with a pouch for anything Nightmare might be carrying. On his right hand, is a leather glove, while the left hand is left bare. Below his waist, he wears simple brown pants, topping it all off with a pair of leather boots. Rather simple, but has an elegant feel to it.
This is what Nightmare wears when he is off being badass and singlehandedly wiping out armies of bosses. Frankly, it doesn't look nice at all. It looks like something straight out of a horror film, something you would see on someone over with the forces of evil. That's the idea. It does help though. It's form fitting, and it provides light protection. The outfit itself consists well crafted leather, not for looks, but to provide actual protection. Claw rings that can be slipped on and off the fingers are often seen on his hands as extra weaponry. Four strips of cloth fall from the waist for aesthetic purposes. Lastly, it has a helmet with a filter and a visor. While Nightmare doesn't like wearing it as it obstructs his vision somewhat, he will if he knows there's smoke or he's up against someone who can blind people.
Nightmare is in actuality, a dragon. Not just any dragon, a Hydra. He is the Dragon King. The Monster Emperor. As such, Nightmare's monster form is the absolute, uncontested strongest beast in Hyrule. A massive black dragon, 40 ft high when standing on his hind legs,. He's 20 ft wide as well, the size of a pretty decent house, 50 ft wide when stretching his wings. Plates of dragonscales and dragon hide cover his body. Nightmare has not one, not two, not three, but nine heads. His appearance strikes fear into the hearts of his opponents. Even the dauntless must be forced to face such a leader.
WEAPONS,
Silversnake
A 4 foot long... longsword. Silversnake seems to always be on Nightmare, and he's very protective of it. The blade shines and glistens like silver. It rests in a sheath, mostly wrapped in leather, however, both ends of the sheath seem to be made of silver, so it's high class for sure. Ironically, trying to steal Silversnake is actually one of the few berserk buttons that Nightmare has, as it's very precious to him.
Pashupatastra
A bow that Nightmare uses. The Pashupatastra is a simple black bow that shoots arrows. That's about it. Nightmare does however, keep a quiver of 15 arrows strapped to his right thigh.
ITEMS,
Meleth Level II
A ring that Nightmare owns. It's a golden runed ring that he wears on his right ring finger. The Ring however, has an ability. So long as Nightmare wears Meleth, his physical attributes are tripled. That's about it. The Ring however, carries immense sentimental value, and he hates parting with it.
The Eye of God
Truth be told, Nightmare's right eye is enchanted. It's been given a special ability that allows Nightmare to gain an advantage over his foes. Fortunately, because it is an eye of power, and not one of normality, it is not bound to rules such as vision distortion. Though things like flashbangs and such still work just fine. The Eye of God lasts for five posts, with a cooldown of five posts.
The Enlightened Path Level I
When the Eye of God is active, Nightmare's reflexes greatly improve. The Eye effectively allows him to discern what the right path is, giving him time for a solution. If Nightmare cannot see the obstacle, or there is no path or solution, this has no meaning.
Reflexive Reversal Level II
A powerful illusion spell that Nightmare uses the Eye of God to enforce. For a very brief moment, Nightmare can tap into the Eye of God to, for the most part, screw with his opponents' brain. By very briefly activating it in one instance of power, the light from the eye completely covers the area, blinding anyone in the vicinity for a very, very brief moment of time. And that's all that's necessary. With that flash of light, their brains have already been invaded, whether they covered their eyes or not.
When they look back, they'll notice one small thing; Nightmare isn't where he was when he used it. If he was in front of them, he'll now be behind them. That's what the spell from the Eye of God does; inflicts a powerful illusion that inverts Nightmare's position for a set amount of time. While they are under the effect of this spell, anywhere that they perceive Nightmare, he is in the opposite of. If they see or hear or perceive Nightmare in any manner behind them, he will in actuality be in front of them. If they perceive him to their left, he is actually to their right and vice versa.
The real danger to this is that it destroys the opponent's reflexes. When someone throws a rock at you from your left, you instinctively move to defend your left side. Reflexive Reversal preys on that. Naturally, the opponent will look to their left to see the attack coming, and move to defend the left, when in actuality, the attack is coming from the right, and their actions have left them wide open. Naturally, this is the bane of those who have trained extensively for combat.
This isn't bulletproof however. Aside from an illusion breaker being enough to dispel this, it won't take long for the opponent to figure out that it is an illusion. Once that's done, they can defend against it by overriding their reflexes. This is naturally, very difficult and takes time that one really can't afford to use during a battle, meaning that even once the spell is figured out, their reflexes are greatly slowed while it's active.
Reflexive Reversal is however, still a part of the Eye of God. So if the Eye of God cannot be accessed for any reason, Nightmare cannot use this. If the Eye of God is active when this is used, and its duration ends before this spell's duration, Reflexive Reversal automatically ends. This ability cannot be used if the Eye of God is on cooldown.
Reflexive Reversal lasts for five posts and has a five post cooldown.
Return to Zero Level III
The Eye of God can do some truly insane things at times, like enforce the laws of reality. There are those in the world that have pushed themselves beyond the limits, becoming superhuman, whether in strength or speed or other facets, they have pushed themselves beyond the limits. The Eye of God may not be too crazy about that, as one of those abilities is to punish those who have defied reality.
Return to Zero inflicts an ironic hell, of sorts. Truth be told, unlike Reflexive Reversal, or the Enlightened Path, this does not have a set duration, rather, it works instantly and shuts off to be put on cooldown. But all it really needs is one second. What it does is it takes the superhuman extents that many have been able to accomplish, and utterly turn it against them in absolute punishment. Depending on the extent of the opponent's Superhuman capabilities, this can be anywhere from a fight ender to a completely worthless ability.
When Return to Zero is activated, the eye determines whether the opponent is doing anything above that of a normal human, and if they are, how to punish them and to what extent. The more superhuman, the more damage is inflicted.
For example, a Sheikah that decided that getting level 4 superspeed was a good idea would have it bad. For speed, the eye would for but an instant, stop the speeding Sheikah (if they were moving) on a dime, and allow Newton's Law to work its magic. While the Sheikah would be able to act as normal next turn, because it had such a high amount of speed, Newton's Law would end up destroying the Sheikah's legs, and without healing, they likely wouldn't be able to use them to move for the remainder of the thread. If the opponent uses a high amount of strength, the blow will rebound and the muscles inside the limb will be destroyed. This is pretty much only limited to limbs.
However, the opposite works as well. If the opponent has no superhuman capabilities, or is not using them, then the eye will deem that no punishment is necessary and the ability will have been wasted. If the opponent is only mildly superhuman (I.E. x2 speed), then the damage will be negligible. A few bruises maybe, but that'd be about it. Honestly, use the following scale to determine the damage that would be done.
No superhuman capabilities or inactive: No damage
Mild superhuman capabilities (x2): Minor damage, bruises at best.
Moderate superhuman capabilities (x3): Moderate damage, fractures are likely, but far from disabling
Strong superhuman capabilities (x4): Major damage, bones are broken, but can still keep going.
Insane superhuman capabilities (x5 & beyond): FML.
Return to Zero has a cooldown of 4 posts. Like Reflexive Reversal, Return to Zero cannot be activated if the Enlightened Path is on cooldown. Return to Zero's duration is instant. This ability works on everything, human or inhuman.
ABILITIES,
Leader Slot: Phantom Craft
An ability that runs only in the Sorel bloodlines, the Phantom Craft is something that is not really part of the elemental table. Rather, the Phantom Craft is a completely new element. Go ahead, look for another instance of this element. Chances are you won't find another user capable of the Phantom Craft save one with Sorel blood running through their veins. It's a unique element in that while it has its own unique coding, it can mimic the coding of anything else if used right. While using this ability, Nightmare has a vast amount of versatility at his finger tips.
Order Leader Slot Level I
The first use of the Phantom Craft. Nightmare can use the Phantom Craft to produce any type of weapon is needed to. Whether they are swords, or spears, or even axes, Nightmare can produce two blank weapons to use as necessary. If for any reason, he should lose his grip on these weapons, he can simply produce another pair with no consequence to him.
Chaos Leader Slot Level II
The second use of the Phantom Craft is replicating elements. By altering the coding of a construct, Nightmare is able to change what element it takes on. For example, he could use this to wreath one of his constructions in flame, turning it into a fire elemental weapon. This is useful for Nightmare in that it allows him to adapt to a situation regarding a foe well versed in certain elements.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Racial Ability 1: Fire breathing
When in Hydra form, Nightmare's heads can breathe fire out in front of them to roast his opponents. This attack does basic fire damage if it strikes.
Racial Ability 2: Roar
When in Hydra form, Nightmare can let loose with a horrifying roar. When this is used, the defense of all enemies in the thread is lowered slightly. Cooldown of 4 turns.
Racial Ability 3: Dragonhide
When in Hydra form, Nightmare's dragon hide slightly reduces physical damage taken. Passive.
Racial Ability 4: Dragonblood
Due to dragons (or hydra, in Nightmare's case) being mythical creatures, their blood is considered "special", which even carries over to Hylian culture as while a dragon is feared, a dragonborn (human/hylian/whatever with dragon blood) is considered a Godsend. Anyway, Nightmare's Dragonblood slightly reduces any magical damage taken. Incidentally, this is the only racial that can work in human form. Passive.
Flight
Due to being a winged dragon, Nightmare can fly.
HISTORY,
Nightmare was born to two dragon in Kakariko. Nightmare was a rare breed of dragon. Even though his parents were regular Draconians, Nightmare was in fact, a Hydra. A legendary kind of dragon that results as a rare mutation. Dragons are considered exceptionally rare by normal standards. Hydras are considered exceptionally rare by Dragon standards. Either way, Nightmare lived life. His mother taught him an enchantment spell in order to create a human appearance for him, and he stayed in Kakariko until he was age 10.
At around 10, he was shipped off to the Academy for training as a Cadet. In the youngest year possible too. Either way, he did his best, learning what the instructors taught him and trying to get to the top of his class. After eight years of training, he was enlisted in the military and for four years, worked as a guard of the Castle Town.
Finally, at 22, when his time was up, he chose not to reenlist, instead heading off for unknown adventures! At least he would've been, if he didn't get shot fairly quickly in a trip in Faron Woods. Funny thing about Faron Woods, it's a great place to hide. Archers appeared from throughout the forests, looking for a quick buck to make by attacking hapless travelers, they thought Nightmare was just another target.
They took him by surprise, and after getting shot a few times, Nightmare, for the first time in years, got to take on his true form. The beast towered above the bandits, and he began to breathe fire upon them. Some were killed in the blast, some fled immediately, and some stayed and fought, and received the appropriate punishment for their actions.
However, the skirmish left Night gravely wounded. Limping, bleeding, vision fading, Nightmare hobbled through the Faron Woods before collapsing. He looked up at the sky as his vision started to fade. The green leaves of the trees were the last thing that he saw before everything went to black and he lost consciousness.
When he awoke though, he found himself not in the woods, but lying in a nice comfy bed. The sun's rays poked through, shining in his face as it brought about a sense of alertness. Happy to be alive, Nightmare just laid in bed, letting himself recover. It was shortly after that, that he had met the woman who saved his life. It was truly a fortunate blessing, she had saved him from what would have been certain death.
So in return, he made a vow that he would repay her, the woman named Ashelia for saving his life, and that he was now indebted to her. Ashelia opposed the idea at first, but he wouldn't relent, so she probably just gave in, realizing it was hopeless to argue with him.
At first, Nightmare probably wasn't the best guy. He was brash, abrasive, and a bit too smarmy. Ashelia's father didn't like him, and felt that he was taking advantage of his daughter's generosity. Nightmare tried to make the best of it though. He would go out hunting to get some food for the evening, and he really did try to make his stay somewhat beneficial.
At about three months into his stay, he noticed Ashelia tending to a garden. At first, he made fun of her, cracking a few jokes about it as she just kept her cool. However, in the back of his mind, he had plans brewing, plans to give her something that she might like. Granted, he didn't have much for money ever since he left the military, but he figured that he could get her something simple, right?
So he did. Later that night, he snuck into her room while she was sleeping and laid a sleeping basket at the foot of her bed before sneaking out. The following morning, he was confronted about the basket. He didn't admit that he got it for her, but he didn't deny it. Instead, he simply grabbed a hold of Ashelia and pulled her into a loving kiss. One could say that that was the beginning of a wonderful relationship.
Needless to say, Ashelia's father hated it. Loathed it. Abhorred it. But honestly, Nightmare didn't care. All he knew was that for now, he loved her. For nine months they lived together. It was a simple, yet peaceful life. It was comforting to have something so stable. For him, it was what he needed. It was a wonderful feeling, being able to wake up each and every day with your ivory angel in your arms.
But after those nine months, he had to go. He tried to sneak out, but she caught him. He tried to explain what was going on, that he had to go, but she cut him off. Ashelia understood what was going on in his mind. It was only natural that she'd be able to read his emotions. He hated having to break her heart and break up with her. But, it was something he had to do. Pulling her into one last kiss, he left her home.
He figured it was time to go take care of something that he should have taken care of a while ago. He headed for the Black Lands, in the desert, and fought his way inside. Making hi way to the throne, Nightmare challenged the Emperor to a battle for the throne. The Emperor, being a dragon, felt the challege to be foolhardy, and the battle was taken to a small, secluded area, where it finally started.
When the Emperor transformed, Nightmare immediately followed suit, showing off all nine of his heads. The Emperor, realizing the danger he was now in, fighting a hydra, attempted to finish Nightmare off. The battle itself was won with a single strike. The Emperor rushed forward, and Nightmare countered, all nine of his jaws clamping down on the Emperor's throat.
With the dragon killed, Nightmare took his place as the Emperor of the Ainur. The first thing he did was slaughter the rest of the Emperor's lieutenants. Now, he sits upon the throne, leader of the Ainur, aiming to bring the long war between Monsters and Hyrule to a final end.
