PERSONALITY,Maytag is the embodiment of the exact opposite of what a gerudo would be. An introvert by the very definition, she's quick to shy away from large crowds, and socialization. May is a timid one, she's very soft spoken, and dislikes raising her voice. She's jumpy and fearful, constantly looking over her shoulder and possesses a difficult time letting down her guard. Spazz much? You have no idea. She freaks out over the littlest of things. Often times she bursts into tears for no apparent reason - not that she even can tell. She has a deep and perpetual need for a hiding place, which is why she wears such baggy sweaters - in a way, she can hide in them.
Careful to a fault, she never jumps into anything unless she's absolutely positive that she'll come out on top, daring only if she's secure about what she's getting into. She can't stand violence, and does whatever it takes to avoid it by any means possible. Unfortunately, she's not very good at distinguishing good and bad, constantly viewing life in shades of monochrome. This in turn discloses her naive nature given that her guard is thrown in a juxtaposition. In turn, she gets depressed easily~
When May relaxes enough around someone, she's actually quite cheerful, one will notice her smiling more. An earnest person, you won't find anyone as giving, or as kind as she can be. She is quite sincere as well~ However the biggest note she hides is the fact that she's highly intelligent. When placed in her comfort zone, she thinks, and reacts on a whole different level than her normal spastic, and cry baby behavior. If Maytag considers you trustworthy, it opens her up to becoming clingy, and possessive; what with having a severe case of dependency issues. She does not take changes lightly, and has a difficult time adjusting her lifestyle should something go missing. Even though she cries a lot, especially when she falls down, she always makes an effort to bounce back. May wants to believe that she can bounce back from anything.
APPEARANCE,You know how people describe other people's appearance the same way they describe how they act? Maytag fits that description to a tee. By default, you can easily tell Maytag is a Gerudo. Although she's slightly paler than many of her sisters, her vibrant red hair and crimson eyes make her stand out in your average crowd of humans and Hylians. She stands a little above average at a height of five foot, five inches, and she's a tad thinner as well; however, instead of being stick-like, she has willowy (and admittedly slight) curves. She is very lithe by structure due to the fact she isn't a natural fighter like her kin.
Humble doesn't even begin to describe her articles of clothing. May clads herself in sweaters that are much too big for her over tights layered over a dainty skirt. She changes her shoes depending on where she is heading off to - often times, she's in simple boots when on the road or red flats when she's in civilization.
WEAPONS,Maytag carries with her a small dagger, but it's usually kept packed away. She has a terrible habit of forgetting about it~
ITEMS,Locked Heart: Magical Item. A simple heart-shaped pendant Maytag wears around her neck. The pendant itself was made from sands that carried with it a magical substance. When activated it glows a vibrant red color, and heals inflicted wounds. It heals most wounds, including internal wounds such as broken bones. With it, she can heal all but mortal wounds (a bullet or sword to the chest, bullet or sword to the head, etc).
Cooldown: Three posts.
ABILITIES,Illusions in The Sand. Living her life in the desert, what she lacks in active combat, she makes up with tricks. By studying the sun's rays, and observing how mirages are formed, May created a technique that plays on it~ Maytag can cast an optical mirage as a means to distract her opponent's attention away from her. For one post, Maytag uses this trick to dodge out of the way of one physical or magical attack.
Cooldown: Three posts
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Spirit and Technique, Flawless and Firm. Level 3
- Level 1 - Once every 2 posts, a gerudo can zero in on an enemy, catching up to them in an instant. Useful for ranged opponents or fleeing opponents.
- Level 2 - Due to their strong resistance, a gerudo to parry and block magical attacks with their bare hands. They still take damage, but it is reduced from what it would normally be.
- Level 3 - Through sheer skill, the gerudo is able to catch smaller magical projectiles (such as fireballs) and toss them back. They take slight damage from doing this.
Life of War. Level 1. Two handed weapons can be effortlessly wielded in one hand. Now here's a good question, just because she can, does that mean she would?
HISTORY,
From the moment she was born, Maytag was neither on top of her game nor was destined for failure. She made no attempt to disclose her incompetence as a warrior of the desert. She was suppose to be by default naturally good at fighting and seduction, and have the beguile that her desert sisters possessed. May was an awkward bumbler, and didn't know the hilt of a sword from the point. She tried, sure, but no matter what she did, she never met anybody's expectations. So she was banished from the Gerudo tribe at the age of six, left to fend for herself or die.
After two, and half days of wandering the desert, she passed out from dehydration, convinced that she was going to die, and be buried in the sands her tribe left her in. However an archeologist who happened to be on an excavation of ancient structures discovered the young child before it was too late. His assistance were reluctant of his kindness, taking the child in, and nursing her back to health. Who wouldn't be wary of a Gerudo child? She ran a fever for two weeks before she was back on her feet completely, and was provided shelter until the excavation was over. Whether it was her timid nature or just her aura of absolute uselessness, the group began to warm up to her, treating her more like a normal child than a savage.
The rest of her childhood was spent together with the group. They traveled across the desert trying their best to avoid gerudo areas in order to search out relics, or fossils of civilization of the ancient world. When they were busy researching, and collecting information, she was out playing in the sands making sand castles. However she noticed the sun's rays casting over the sands, and creating an illusion effect from the distance. It was mirages she later found out~ Studying the sunlight's cast over the heated plains, she too came up with a technique that used the same concept, thus creating illusions.
Her adoptive father gave her a simple little pendant on her eighteenth birthday, which she treasures deeply. Life took a turn for the worse when a group of gerudo warriors discovered the archeological group, and commenced in an all out slaughter. They followed their orders without hesitations - take no prisoners, and leave no witnesses behind. May created an illusion to cover herself throughout the onslaught, frozen in fear as she watched her only family get killed right before her very eyes.
She ran.
She ran as fast as her feet could take her, traveling across the desert until she came across the borders that divided desert with the rest of Hyrule. When her feet could no longer take her any further, she passed out cold. When she woke, her memories of the slaughter were suppressed deep in the back of her conscious. Now she wanders aimlessly across Hyrule without a purpose or care. Perhaps that is her intent in life is to find a purpose. That works too.
