Rilu
That Nationalist Zora
RACE,Zora
GENDER,Female
BATTLE ROLE,Melee/Ranged DPS/Distraction
SEXUALITY,Heterosexual
AGE,24
ALLIANCE,The Zora
PERSONALITY,Rilu is probably more active in terms of plugging the superiority of her people than most Zora, never missing an opportunity to place emphasis on how being of Zorakind makes her better than a human, sheikah, or whatever land-born race. She knows that some races are necessary to continue the world, such as Deku or Gorons, but she doesn't exactly get the point of things such as normal humans. To her, they have no means of surviving in the natural environment except to make man-made structures, and can't fend off predators except with man-made tools. They have no natural means of survival, and so to her, are pointless existences. She won't try to exterminate them, but she will prove the superiority of the Zora.
If it wasn't obvious by now, Rilu is a Nationalist of the Zora. She is proud of her heritage and feels like their kind get pushed around too much by the land-born races, specifically Hylian, Human, and Gerudo, who use their waters as shipping routes or sources of water for their artificial societies. Whenever given the opportunity, she will try to push them out of Zora territory, as she hates the idea of them settling in areas already occupied by Zora. Their very existence disrupts the way the world is supposed to go, and so she will take an opportunity to strike back at them if she can.
She is definitely an extremist when it comes to her people, but this isn't to say she's a crazy one. She's a tomboy for sure, never doing things 'like a girl' and always taking the most active approach to things. She hates sitting still and doing nothing, feeling like it's a waste of time that could be spent accomplishing something. She's also a very practical Zora, never keeping things on her that are unnecessary and trying to make use out of whatever she can. If something can be used, why waste it, is her line of thought. However, this does not mean for her to burden herself with excess belongings, especially things that aren't useful underwater. If she finds something useful, then she'd either keep it on her until she can discard it, or hand it to someone that it'd be more useful with.
APPEARANCE,
[/color]In terms of basic body structure, Rilu is not that different from the normal Zora. She has a thin, fit form without any excess fat, which makes it good for swimming, with a pair of fins on her arms and legs, as well as a pair on her hips. Her hands, rather than being webbed, are more human-like to make it easier to grab onto things, and from her head she has two fin-like protrusions that act as her external ears. Her entire body is covered in light blue scales and on her torso, she has a set of visible gills to make it so she can breathe underwater. She stands at around 5' 3" and is a bit on the heavy side for her weight, being around 134 Ib., but this is primarily muscle and the extra mass from her highly durable scales.
An oddity about her though is the hair she has growing from her head, which is a deep blue and reaches about ankle length. However, this is actually just an abnormally prominent system of feelers, which when in the water, helps her detect movement like a normal fish's lateral line. This is primarily why it is so long, as since the longer it is, the more it helps detect movement, she sees no reason to remove any of it. Plus, it'd be painful to do so, since they are essentially extended nerves.
WEAPONS,She wields no other weapons than her fins and unarmed combat.
ITEMS,She has no belongings as such things mean nothing under the water's surface.
ABILITIES,
- Strengthened Fins: Through refinement and a bit of natural ability, Rilu's fins are twice as strong as normal Zora fins. Long story short, this means her fins are twice as durable as a normal steel sword and deal twice as much damage.
- Ice Magic: Rilu has a natural talent with ice magic, and is capable of freezing water and water vapor into a solid, icy form. She can create general shapes, but not precise objects, and can only freeze water up to twice per round. She can utilize this to free within a five foot radius of herself, and if she launches something made from this ice using her magic, it can fly as fast as an arrow. This is technically capable of being used even while outside of water, but cannot be used in dry areas like the desert where there is an extremely low amount of water vapor, and is most effective when near a source of water or in a temperate climate. Objects formed can generally endure a single hit without breaking, but shatter on the second hit.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Finnerangs - Level 4: For some reason, a Zora's fins can end up really sharp, able to stand up to actual swords and other weapons. And for some other reason, the Zora can detach these fins and throw them like a boomerang. No one's really sure how they can do it either, but they can.
The fins have no problem standing up to weapons. The Zora effectively has arms and leg blades now.
HISTORY,
When Rilu was hatched, she was part of a group of about six Zora, with three sisters and two brothers. Even when she was still a tadpole, Rilu always showed more energy than most of her siblings, which isn't to say that they were lazy or inactive but she was above the norm. They were an average Zora family really, who survived on hunting smaller fish and whatnot. They worked for the good of the Zora people, though an immediate difference is that Rilu's family was a family of Sea Zora, rather than many Zora in this day who were River Zora. Thus, they grew up in a drastically different environment and were a bit more individualistic because of their distance from the main Zora royalty.
As Rilu grew up, she wondered why Zora were always seen as 'lesser' people by the humans, which was something of an assumption on her part. It was a very accurate assumption though, as she grew up in a trade route, so ships of both merchant and pirate variety tended to cruise through. They had a blatant disregard for the life below the surface, and it annoyed Rilu to no end. What right did these land-walkers have to impede on Zora territory, when they themselves had to make boats to cross water and couldn't even breathe in water?
She hit adulthood and decided that beginning now, she would work for the good of all Zora-kind, even if no one else would. She would work to show the superiority of Zora, and why humans should respect them rather than simply walk over them and their homes. She was tired of having to deal with ships always going overhead, dumping their waste into the waters she swam in, and having a complete disregard for others simply because they were "civilized" enough to use such man-made structures. She would prove that such things meant nothing in the face of nature!
