GUREN
Age: (52 years) Old, Died at 37 yrs of age and has been a Stalfos since (for 15 years).
Race: Stalfos (Monster/Undead)
Gender: Male
Battle Role - Melee Tank / Melee DPS
Allegiances:
- Formerly a band of Brigands that operated out of the Desert Province
- Now either the Monster Emperor or the Ruler of the Undead (Poe Ruler)
Personality:
Positive - In life, Guren was loyal to a fault. Loyal to his tribe to a fault and the gods they worshiped (different from the three goddesses). In death, this loyalty still follows him in his actions. As a warrior, he was strong, courageous and unrelenting in battle. He would do all he could to carry forward his duty and even in death he still awaits the Brigand Captain to send him on his way to the afterlife.
Negative - Death has corrupted the soldier in unique ways. Playing upon the guise of loyalty to the 'cause' and survival of his 'people', he is easily manipulated by those with ties to his memories of those days. Even after all this time, he despises the royal family of Hyrule and their guardian people the Shiekah. This hatred, carried over from life is blinding and will cause Guren to attack Shiekah or anyone with their betraying red eyes.
Appearance:
In Life
In Life, Guren was a large, powerful man. Standing approximately 6' 5" tall with his body honed, trained and muscular from decades of fighting for survival in the barren wastes. He was a sight to behold, his dark hair shaggy, long and unkept matching his aggressive eyes like a dog waiting to bare its teeth at any passing stranger. In life, the man wore armor almost all the time. Ironically, every plate of steel in his armor was forged to hunt him and his people down as brigands, traitors, thieves, rapists and the like. While the blades and armor didn't have the tempering and upkeep of the Hyrule Guards, it was plentiful enough to pick from the corpses of those slain by them.
In Death
In death all that remains of the once proud man clad in armor are the shoulder pauldrons fitted with bone to his body. Still towering over the average human or hylian - Guren as a Stalfos is worth fearing. The human eyes have rotted away leaving only beading essence of existence burning within the sockets of his skull. The flesh and muscle have all rotted away leaving the skeletal frame standing - animated by magic and sheer power of will, Guren is able to still move his form.
Weapons:
Ancient Blade of the Exiled Arbiter's Tribe - A weapon used by the ancient people before their abrupt end and exile to the arbiter's grounds
Ancient Shield of the Exiled Arbiter's Tribe - A circular shield of steel used by the ancient warriors in their struggles before being exiled by the Royal Family to the arbiter's grounds.
Items:
Memento Locket - A locket with an aged pictograph of a man, woman and child seated at the steps of a great palace.
Gaudo Skin Rupee Wallet - A wallet made of Gaudo Skin, birds native to where Gurin's people were supposedly originally from.
Abilities:
Stalfos Wardog
(Level 1) - Guren can summon his capable war-dog from beyond the grave to aid him in his battles.
Blade of Bloody Rending (Level 1) - A blade bathed in the blood of the undead, re-dead and those who wished they were dead. By cutting its adversary, the grip of death begins to take it's slow march over the living. [Causes the target to become poisoned if it hits. Does a small amount of poison damage over time and slightly reduces the victim's reflexes while they are poisoned.] Poison Duration: 2 Posts; Cool down: 4 Posts
Racial Ability:
Undying (Level 1) - If Guren is 'slain' in combat, after sufficient time has past (4 Posts) his body will recompose itself and he will stand ready again.
This ability will not activate if the following occurs to the corpse:
- The corpse is hit with the light of the goddess' justice (Light Arrows or Day Light)
- If an explosive weapon is used on the corpse (Bombs/Bomb-Arrows etc.)
- If the head is destroyed before the corpse is re-animated.
- Removing parts of the corpse will cause a delay in re-animation. For every body part 'removed', add +2 Posts for re-animation.
---
Undying may re-animate Guren's corpse multiple times per thread, however every time it activates the time required before re-animation occurs is doubled. (1st time = 4 posts; 2nd time = 8 posts; 3rd time = 16 posts etc.)
[Note - Time can be added, subtracted or reduced to 3 posts and only used once per thread]
Sacrilegious Power (Level 1) - By unleashing the power reanimating his corpse, Guren can increase his defensive ability to reduce the effectiveness of melee attacks used against him by 20%. Duration: 1 Post; Cool down: 5 Posts
History: Guren lived the last years of his life in the Desert Province under the shadows of the Arbiter's Grounds. His 'people' lived through the filling of the Arbiter's grounds with all manner of gruesome rapists, murderers, bandits and the like. After the fall of the Arbiter's grounds into disrepair, many of these exiles (including Guren) escaped the Arbiter's grounds.
Exposed to the harsh wasteland of the desert province and the frequent assault by monsters and moblins, one by one the prisoners of the arbiter's grounds fell, died and rose again. Some as stalfos, many as poe. They all wandered the Haunted Wastelands of the desert province for a very long time. Everyday at sunrise, their bodies would burn in the goddess' light and every night they would rise once more to roam.
Guren himself has lost track of how long he has been roaming the 'endless desert' but has found no way out of the desert. Now, he hopes to find a worthy combatant to face him so that he may finally be brought to rest. These hopes may be dashed however as his 'soul' is still sacrilegious, firmly against the goddesses and all who follow them and their relic.
