APPEARANCE,
In her original form Vylira looks quite simply like a fox. A yellow fox, but a fox nonetheless. Interestingly enough the yellow thing is typically ignored when one sees her original for. Most people find themselves more caught up on the fact that she’s human sized and that she has three tails flickering behind her.
Vylira’s form is quite lithe, though she has much more strength than she lets on. Her skin is naturally pale and no matter how much time she spends outside, even in the desert sun, it never seems to tan or get any darker. Her features are very feminine and smooth, with long white hair that she styles in a variety of different ways, and deep blue-green eyes that almost sparkle with magic and mischief, though the two are often quite hard to discern from one another, oddly enough.
Her clothing varies much like her hair, though it’s usually quite flamboyant, full of drapery and bobbles. Her most common outfit is a loose, red silk dress with a white sash tied around her to keep it clung to her form. She wears many metallic armbands, long gloves and, oddly, loose leather shoes that stay strapped to her calves.
WEAPONS,Straight SwordsVylira has grown quite adept at the use of dual straight edged swords (seen HERE). Vylira doesn’t see herself as much of a fighter, however, and thus never bothered to find any sort of magical weapon.
ITEMS,Vylira's HoardStashed away in her own little pocket dimension, Vylira has countless treasures and artifacts ready to retrieve as necessary. She herself has no interest in any of these things and will never use them outside of trading or fencing, and frankly there's too much there to be able to know what can be useful or not in tense situations like combat anyway.
ABILITIES,Fox-FireA small ball of fire Vylira is able to summon, it differs from normal fire in that it burns an ethereal bluish-white color and does not seem to spread to flammable objects. The ball of fire hovers around Vylira and retains somewhat of a telekinetic bond with her in that she can make it float around to a maximum radius of fifty feet. The purpose of the fire is two-fold: first it can interact with physical objects and essentially grant Vylira a weak telekinesis. The orb can grab hold of an object by surrounding it in the flame and float with it, but only to a maximum weight of two pounds. The second use for the flame is a bit more blunt: it can detonate at any point to do heavy damage to any caught in the five foot blast aside from Vylira herself. Should the orb explode, Vylira cannot summon another one for five posts. Hitting it with magic or magical items may cause it to detonate prematurely, though non-magic items will pass right through it.
IllusionistVylira is a very talented illusionist. Quite simply put, she is able to conjure up illusions that can interact with all five senses for a brief period. She is not limited to mere sight, but can mimic smells, sounds, touch and even taste. Granted none of these can actually harm someone physically—even touch can only mimic touch, not pain—but they can do some psychological and emotional damage if used right. Which is for Vylira to decide. Summoned illusions last for six posts, minus one for each additional sense it interacts with after the first one (for example if it’s sight based, it lasts for six, but if it interacts with sight and smell then it lasts for five). An illusion also dissipates should it be targeted by any sort of magical ability or weapon, or if Vylira dispels it. Normal, non-magic items do not affect them. Vylira cannot summon another illusion for two posts after one has been dissipated.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Information NexusAs a Keaton Vylira is privy to even the most private of information. There are few ways to block out her means of knowing things, and those require extensive amounts of research to uncover. What she knows, however, is based on what happens. It’s as if she had been there when things happen, thus she cannot read minds to know what someone was thinking at the time. Granted if you’re a good enough read in character you can often figure out certain things yourself by knowing all of the details.
PoofA Keaton has the strangest ability to be wherever it wants to be, whenever it wants to be. Sometimes it’s better to actually witness events rather than know them. Vylira can enter and exit a thread at any point (provided she’s invited or it’s open) and teleport outside of combat at will. Inside of combat she can teleport once every five posts to an area nearby, or vanish from the thread completely at any point. This all leads to making her rather difficult to capture and impossible to restrain. As an additional little feature Vylira can store inorganic objects away magically, in a pocket dimension or something of that sort. Anything stored can be summoned at will, though it has no bond to Vylira once it is material and can be taken away.
HISTORY,
It’s really a mystery how a Keaton comes to be or how they grow up. Needless to say that part isn’t important enough to have been discovered, and shall be skipped. Instead let’s focus on Vylira’s first interaction with the civilized world and work our way from there, for that is what is really important. Otherwise assume that she was born to a happy Keaton mother and a pleasant Keaton father and grew up in peace and solitude.
Mischievous little Vylira wandered too far away from home, though that was not unexpected considering exactly what she was. She wandered straight into a village and immediately her first instincts were to cause mischief. Nothing malevolent. She entered houses unseen and moved objects around, displaced seemingly valuable items, loosened screws and all that stuff one tends to attribute to bad luck and a faulty memory. Though some of the more interesting things disappeared completely, never to be seen again, as Vylira took them with her. No gold, no money, nothing like that. Things that interested her, magical items and fancy contraptions.
So began her collection, and from there it just grew and grew. Vylira made more forays into the human world from her home, and actually began to interact with them to a limited extent, though never in her Keaton form. The first and only time she had done that they tried to capture her, and were met with a giant pocket in the ground where she had been moments before, and her fox fire had been minutes after that.
And so she learned how to barter, and learned of the value of the rupee. They held no value to her, mind you, but they could be used to attain more things of interest, so she began to rack up a small fortune by trading things and selling them, obtaining objects of interest or just selling information. Every now and then she would steal, but only in very special cases, for one-of-a-kind items that were stashed away.
Needless to say she gathered a reputation as an information broker, selling off secrets she couldn’t possibly know. This was why she was sought out by a father seeking a way to restore his daughter’s arm. As it turned out at the time Vylira had in her collection a rather unique magical artifact, a synthetic arm, animated by magic. But the man had nothing of value he was willing to part with for it, so Vylira made a special deal with him. She gave him the arm in exchange for an unnamed favor, to be called upon whenever she wanted, because she knew such a thing would be valuable. Having a favor from the great Rwaht Orin was more valuable than any amount of rupees.
So Vylira’s business expanded into new horizons. Soon enough things could not only be traded or bought, but borrowed in exchange for favors. Due to her natural ability to cause mischief Vylira was very capable of getting back what she traded should the other party refuse to honor their half of the bargain, and were usually left with a very lethal blast of fox-fire in exchange for their treachery. Vylira quickly discovered she had a particularly vengeful side.
She settled in eventually in the desert, among the Gerudo, for where better to expand your treasure than among thieves and bandits? Especially when her own treasure was impossible to steal. It was fairly easy to find herself a cozy little abode to call home when she could trade her almost unlimited access to information to the king himself. Though the Gerudo may sometimes find things misplaced around their camps. Sometimes those natural urges are impossible to resist.
EXTRAS,
To most she's merely a Fox Minish with special talents, she keeps her race secret from any who don't automatically know.
