the exiled
RACE,
Twili.
GENDER,
Male.
BATTLE ROLE,
Melee/Magic DPS.
SEXUALITY,
Dawnsexual.
AGE,
Twenty-seven.
ALLIANCE,
Himself, Dawn.
PERSONALITY,
Sociopath.
A common misconception about sociopaths is that they literally feel no emotions. This is not the case. Under some circumstances, a sociopath may form an emotional connection with someone, and establish a legitimate, caring relationship with them. This person is the exception to the sociopath's rules -- all the guilt, remorse, and empathy he typically does not feel flows into the relationship with his special someone.
Dawn is Luthien's exception.
The rest of the world, in his opinion, can go die in a hole. He doesn't care about society, he doesn't care about people. People are targets, opportunities, ways for him to get ahead. Luthien is typically reckless and impulsive; he acts on whim, usually because of anger. He's nervous and easily agitated, and prone to violent outbursts; despite this, though, he's a manipulator as well as a pathological liar. However, his lies are scattered and often inconsistent because of his impulsive nature.
Of course, he would never lie to, hurt, manipulate or (intentionally) lash out at Dawn. He loves her too much.
APPEARANCE,
Luthien is really not one would expect to be a Twili. He doesn't look like much of anything, actually. His dark, bluish-purple skin and the swirling, neon-blue markings on his chest and arms betray his Twili heritage, but the sheer amount of muscle on him coupled with his long, pointed ears, horns, and wings tend to make people of the Light Realm very confused. Generally, they assume that he's Ainur, which works just fine for him.
His blue-black hair isstupidlyextremely long, reaching all the way to his knees. He keeps it partially tied up a majority of the time, with a bit in the front sectioned off for aesthetic purposes. He doesn't wear much clothing, going shirtless most of the time; he wears loose, simple pants and no shoes.
His shadow beast form is more humanoid than beastly; he looks like an ethereal upper body, with a mask where his face should be and curved sickles attached to his arms. He kind of just floats around in this form, as he has no lower body.
WEAPONS,
Warglaives. Luthien's twin glaives are rather unique in that they have blades on either side of the handle, and are double-edged. The inner edges are smooth, while the outer are rough and jagged; this makes it easy for him to adjust his style of fighting from slice'n'dice to rip-out-all-your-intestines-and-eat-them-for-breakfast.
ITEMS,
Whatever he damn well feels like carrying.
ABILITIES,
Doom Blade. Luthien’s blades phase out of reality, becoming one with darkness, rending the flesh of his opponents with the fel magics that bind them, weakening their soul from the violation of the real world that has taken place. Doom Blade deals moderate magic damage to an opponent, before marking his target with Doom. If Luthien uses another magical ability against the target, Doom deals an extra dose of moderate magical damage (added to the damage the other ability already dealt. Only deals the extra damage if the ability hits). Doom persists for 1 post after the post where it is inflicted. This is a melee ability. 3 post cooldown.
Shadowblast. A bolt of pure shadow smashes Luthien’s target, tearing at the fabric of reality, making their movements heavy and sluggish. Shadowblast deals moderate magic damage to an opponent, and slows their movement and attack speed by half for 1 post. This will not affect missile speed, nor does it affect cast speed. This is a ranged ability with a short range. 3 post cooldown.
RACIAL ABILITIES,
Transformation // Level One // The Shadow Beast can be human-sized.
Shadow Form // Level One // A Twili can become a shadow at any time, effectively voiding the sunlight weakness and allowing them to move through shadows. Twili cannot be harmed in this state. However, it can't hurt anyone either. Used in battle, the form only lasts one turn, with a cooldown of six turns.
Sunlight Resistance // Level Two // The Twili has some resistance to sunlight. They are able to reduce most sunlight damage from nearly fatal to moderate.
HISTORY,
Every so often, a staggering couple will come along. Staggeringly terrible, that is. You have no idea how they got together or why the hell they stay together, and what boggles you most is that they had a child. If there was ever a couple who was meant to never have children in all their lives, it was this couple.
These are the parents of Luthien.
They weren't abusive, per se. But they weren't attentive and loving, either. In fact, their inattentiveness went so far as to be described as child neglect; oftentimes, they only paused in their constant bickering long enough to feed their wailing infant (just to get him to shut the hell up), and ignored him once more.
Needless to say, Luthien was not raised well.
A growing child often emulates his parents' behavior, particularly in the first few years in which his personality develops. Luthien's parents were cold, distant; except for when they lashed out at each other or their child, they never showed the slightest emotion. There was not a hint of remorse or empathy, and this would prove to make a permanent mark in the young Twili's psyche.
It started out as it always does -- abusing animals.
Friendly critters were a scarcity in the Twilight Realm, but Luthien often harmed the ones he did find; he enjoyed studying them, in a way, to test the animals' reactions to his various torments. Somewhere deep inside, he knew it was wrong.
He just didn't care.
Fast-forward a few years, into Luthien's adolescence. As he grew and developed, he became increasingly agitated; he had become relatively well-known about the city for being temperamental and quick to lash out with violence, but had yet to do anything serious enough to warrant imprisonment. For the time being, he was merely a nuiscence, nothing more. Most probably thought that it was typical teenage angst, and that he would grow out of it.
He wouldn't.
Nineteen years old, and infatuated with magic. Luthien wasn't overly skilled, but he did like to dabble, especially in the darker things. The forbidden things, the things that could break the mind or warp the soul.
Fel energy. Demonology. The summoning and enslaving of otherworldly forces. He started out small, but he progressed too quickly for his abilities; in one of the summonings, he accidentally absorbed one of the creatures he sought to control. At first, no changes were apparent, but as time went on, he became more nervous, more angry, more easily unhinged. Slowly but surely, the physiological changes came about as well; horns, great leathery wings, a change in eye color and ear shape. Useless, all of them, but frightening all the same.
Time skip, and he's prowling about Dusk Town. Jumpy. Nervous. Angry. Luthien was angry, and there were thugs about. A group of thugs, being loud and rancorous and annoying.
He snapped. Attacked. Wounded most, killed one. He didn't regret it.
And when he realized just who he had saved, his nonexistent remorse became a void.
It was like a fairytale, really. Dawn didn't judge him, didn't anger him, didn't annoy him. For the first time in his life, he found himself caring for someone, really caring.
She was special, though. The rest of society could die for all he cared, as long as Dawn remained by his side. He went about as he usually did, although he was careful not to do anything that would upset Dawn.
Three years passed.
One day, he went too far. Much too far. Too far, in fact, to be allowed to remain in the Twilight Realm. It was spectacular timing on Luthien's part, for the window to the Light Realm had been opened. The opportunity was seized and Midna banished him to the Light Realm, never to return home.
And for the first time in his life, he felt guilt. Remorse.
He was never going to see Dawn again.
