Below is a list of the ranks, responsibilities and duties of the Knights of Hyrule.
Knight Acolyte: Trainee Knight. The first responsibility is to be turned out in a manner befitting the Knights. The next is to attend any and all training, irrespective of previous engagements and non-critical injuries. Medical exemption may only be granted by a Knight-Lieutenant, the Knight-Captain, or by the medicae. Duties include barracks patrol, maintaining cleanliness of personal equipment and living quarters, as well as the pledge to assist any citizen in need, provided the request does not break any law, go against the conduct of the Knights of Hyrule, or be outside of your individual or collective capabilities.
Knight Errant: Fully fledged Knight. All previous responsibilities and duties apply, as well as also being requested to attend further training with your personal tutor to develop your specific aptitudes further. You are now bound to serve patrol duties further afield, including border patrols, castle and town guard details, as well as being available for mustering. Completing duties with good conduct and correct execution will earn you further pay and privilege. You may also receive additional duties, according to your aptitudes, including armoury work, medicae service, and chaplaincy.
Knight Sergeant: Unit leader. All previous responsibilities apply, but you are also responsible for the well-being of your division, acting as a representative of both your superiors and your subordinates. You will also be given command of guard details and some patrol details, as well as being in charge of coordination and execution of orders when under muster. Sergeants who prove to be suitably capable may be given royal guard duties, or to become Knight Medicae, acting as both practioner of and guard to the medicae. Pay is increased once again, as well as being given more time for personal development.
Knight Lieutenant: Company leader. All previous responsibilities apply, as well as being extended to cover a whole company, rather than simply a unit. You are also expected to lead by example in every aspect of your life, as you are in a rare and privileged position, in the eyes of your peers, your subordinates, the civilian population, the Hylian Royal Family, as well as being a representative for us for all races to behold. You are expected to lead smaller musters, or larger patrols, as well as being part of a rotation that ensures at least one senior officer is in overall command of our defensive contributio to the town and castle. You will also be expected to collaborate and assist the regular army in the event of attack, and also in the maintenance of order and civility within Hyrule. Furthermore, you are responsible for training and managing batches of new recruits, as well as the further training sessions for the Knights themselves.
