Life in the castle could be terribly boring at times. The boredom made him agitated, but he kept a stoic look as he moved down the hall, letting his arms swing loosely at his side. His glowing yellow eyes moved from side to side as he stepped down the hall of the castle. A sigh escaped him. It was quiet here, and he wondered if Midna was off somewhere or rampaging about. Well, he did not really care. Right now, he had other things to do. Actually, he did not. There was nothing to do around here! It was irritating. He could leave the castle, but he always hated to go out into public, where they could all see him.
The Twilight Realm was as it always is. There were a few clouds dotting the orange-ish sky, but nothing out of the ordinary. Zant was bored, bored, bored. Perhaps there was a guard or two he could pick on? A servant to scare? The thoughts began to race through his mind. He was pretty well grasping at straws by this point. He began to make his way down stairs, only half-watching where he was going. Just to make sure he did not smack into a wall, but those he crossed usually stepped out of his way. They knew well enough to do that. It was expected of them. He could hear a conversation going on in another room, and stopped once he was within ear shot, just to make sure they were not talking about him.

“Now, please make sure the guards get this updated schedule okay? I can’t promise when I’ll be available next. My positions does come with a certain bit of unpredictability.” Nixes handed off the current watch schedule to a young scribe with a smile, the other twili marching off with vigor. It was rather dull paperwork, but Nixes was happy to be useful. Along with this, it was a nice to simply have the luxury of doing nothing. It was something he still wasn’t all that accustom to. Through much of his life, especially near the start of his teen years, any free time presented to him was used for sleep.
Nixes took a seat, draping his scarf over his face and leaning back, letting out a loud exhale, twiddling his thumbs in an idle manner. If he was being honest with himself, he was actually rather bored. While some time to actually relax was appreciated, it wasn’t in his nature, and nothing note worthy had really been taking place lately. Nixes was a man of action, even his words ringed of such a tone. And to that effect, he was quite sick of the silence that lingered in the air, and he knew he wasn’t alone. “I find eves dropping pretty bothersome, rude, and annoying. Your free to come in, I’m not doing anything” He said aloud, actually not positive who was lurking nearby, but he wasn’t about to let anyone think they could sneak up on him, he was the Twilight Assassin after all, he had a reputation to uphold.

Good, it did not seem they were talking about him. Zant seemed pleased about that. He was ready to continue on, but wait, what of this change of schedule? What was going on? Why did he not know of this? Oh well, maybe it was nothing worth getting angry over it. Before he was able to leave, he heard the same voice speaking again. It seemed Zant was not as discreet as he would like to think he was. No, it was just this person was able to do his job right. Good, glad that they had competent workers around here. Zant decided to voice it to the person who had caught him out, "Well, well, I'm glad we have competent workers around here. Yes, sir, I am!" He said in smooth tones as he made his way into the room to face the one who had caught him out.
Wait, who was this guy? Zant felt he should know him, but at the same time, he realized he did not. "May I ask the name of this competent worker and your rank?" He inquired as his mind scrambled to try to figure out. Oh, how incompetent of him! He felt he should know the name of this other Twili, and his rank, but yet it could not be pulled from the depths of his mind! If Zant really cared, he would almost be embarrassed. Okay, he was a little humiliated. How undignified of him to not know someone who may be important or useful to the Sovereign family! Oh well, he could probably just hand off something of value to him or something in order to 'amend' things.

(Sorry for letting things get away from me, real busy time, I’ll do my best not to let it happen further)
Nixes glanced over, readjusting his clothing as to look more presentable. The man seemed to look regal in nature, as far as Nixes could tell. While he spoke a bit oddly, he also seemed to talk as if he was someone noteworthy. This was either someone high up the chain around here, or someone quite insecure and delusional. Getting to his feet, he smiled as best he could and did his best to appear friendly.
Nixes actually felt it a bit odd, this man’s question. Most Twili seemed to know who he was; honestly far more feared him through title alone, then he would really care to admit. Still Zant seemed rather important himself, and Nixes couldn’t really place much about him. The two must have seen one another from time to time, though this must have been the first real conversation they had ever had. All the same, he gave a bow. “It is polite to give your name before asking others, but I won’t lecture you on etiquette.”
Nixes joked a bit, taking a slight jab at the Twili for calling him a worker, but it was still a friendly jab all the same, lacking any real seriousness. “My name is Nixes, and I am the Twilight Assassin, which leaves me with a multitude of responsibilities. But as we are currently not experiencing much conflict, it mostly regulates me to staying at the sovereign side, and commanding over the royal guard.” Nixes managed a smile, he was actually proud quite of his job, even if it could be a bit mundane, it did after all; allow him the freedom he had been craving for many years. “But you’ll have to forgive me, we haven’t really had much formal contact have we? May I ask your name and rank as well?”

What the other Twili responded with began to anger Zant. This poor soul had no idea who he was, did he? Zant remained quiet, just letting him talk as he introduced himself. The way he spoke of it, he seemed to rather like it, but that was just Zant's observations. He could not say one way or the other. The Twili could not read minds or anything, so he had to rely on body language to try to tell what someone was thinking. It did not always work, but sometimes it gave away a lot of information. Zant nodded to him, "Apparently not..." He said in response to the formal contact, and the stranger had then asked for his own name and rank.
It was here that Zant lifted his head up and a grin crossed his lips, almost haughty, actually, it was haughty. This man was about to regret his disrespect, "Zant, one of the Advisors." He responded bluntly. It was probably not wise to give out his name so easily, this could easily back-fire on him but such a thought did not enter his head until he had already said it. Now, he had become a little worried. If he was an assassin, he could easily assassinate him. Oh well, there was not much he could do about it now. The words had been emptied into the air, never to be retrieved again. Surely, Nixes would know that Zant was the brother to the Sovereign? If he did not, then he was a terrible Twilight Assassin, since he did not even really know the members of the royal family here!

Nixes was worried, Zant seemed distraught, it appeared that Nixes’s teasing had offended him. To this, we wasn’t sure how to respond, he didn’t want to back down, to do so wasn’t in his nature, though he also wasn’t in the business of getting on peoples bad sides. Pondering for just a bit, Nixes did his best to smile. “Oh, an Adviser, I’m sure we’ve seen eachother from time to time then, I suppose I’m not as social as I should be.. I’m pretty dedicated to my work.” The Twilight Assassin smiled, both a bit proud, and embarrassed by this fact.
Honestly, in the time he had spent with the princess, he couldn’t recall her talking much about her family, perhaps because such things happened to be a touchy subject for Nixes. After all, as soon as he got this job, he cut ties with his relatives. After he had the authority to break away from their control, and used the free will that they didn’t think he had, he was more than happy to toss them aside. Still, whenever he did find out of Zant’s relation to Minda, whether it is soon, or down the road, he most likely would be embarrassed. “Well I suppose we shouldn’t let anything like this stand any further, it doesn’t look very good, us not knowing eachother’s names.”
He snickered with a wary smile, holding his hand out firmly. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir Zant.” Nixes said, doing his best to appear respectful. Though something about his words would ring fake to most. Ever since he was a child he had been taught the proper way to do these things. But it wasn’t something he liked, Nixes was honestly a far brasher person, and it seemed he would be forced to wear his mask a bit longer to deal with the likes of politics. Still overall it was a small price to pay, a good life cannot be lived without compromise after all.

"I'm sure that we have met." Zant said, taking on a calm yet regal air. At least this one knew who he was now. He could forgive Nixes's ignorance, just this once at least. The Adviser nearly snorted about the other being dedicated to his work. If he was so dedicated, then why did he not recognize Zant? The brother to the Sovereign? It was of a little matter now. There was no reason for Zant to pull such a card. Either that or he was certainly so dedicated that he failed to learn the important names? That still showed incompetency, but Zant did not feel like making a fuss over it. He would probably bring it up later should he desire something, a task or an item, from this assassin. It was a little error that he had noted for future references, or he may forget about it altogether if he just did not really feel like making a fuss. Besides, this was an assassin, and it may not be wise to cross him, even if Zant was an adviser.
After some time, Nixes had spoken again and Zant just remained quiet for a few moments, "You're right." He said, bringing a hand up beneath what passed for a chin, "It doesn't look very good for both of us. Shows incompetency really." He added, giving a hint to his previous thoughts. It was then the other held out a hand, and at first Zant wanted to shun shaking hands with someone that was most likely below him, he decided to go through the formalities. Perhaps correcting Nixes had put him back in a good mood. Zant took Nixes's hand, the hand disappearing in Zant's long sleeves, "A pleasure to meet you as well, Nixes." The words were almost bitter to him. He hated saying things like that, but his sister may get mad if he treated one of the staff badly, not like it stopped him before though.

“We must have I suppose… I’m simply not very social… but my job does come with certain political requirements.” Nixes stood, and pondered for a bit, looking deep in thought. He was really wondering what the job meant to him and to others. To him he felt it mostly entailed sitting at the sovereign’s side like some sort of guard dog. But it also had to do with dealing with certain.. Problems quietly. It also was the heights military rank, though that especially meant very little, as the Twili were a peaceful race by nature. In the end Nixes supposed the titles true meaning would depends on the persons view point.
Though Nixes was a little worried, he had spaced out, and had been a bit too quiet. “Well anyway, is there anything you would like to discuss with me? It’s not every day two people of such high political standing get to talk to one another.” Nixes said, slapping on that fake smile, still not quite sure what to make of Zant. He would keep up such pleasantries for now, but his words ringed of a certain rudeness that was starting to burn at Nixes wick so to speak. The Twili may know how to put on a show, but in truth his patience was quite short.

"Certain political requirements, you say?" He inquired, his voice full of curiosity. Of course, this other may not desire to tell him what these entailed. This would probably annoy Zant, perhaps even tweak his paranoia and rage. Then again, Zant was not a fool, and he knew he would have to take the cowardly path and name-drop in order to get what he wanted and reveal that he was the brother of Midna. Being an assassin, Zant had an idea on what he meant by the 'certain political requirements' but at this point, he was more or less just tryign to make conversation, and also make sure that whatever Nixes was talking about did not involve him.
Was there anything that Zant wanted to talk to him about, "Perhaps a report on how things are going? What was with this new guard schedule that I heard you speaking about? I never knew anything about this." He said, perhaps it was his paranoia talking, but that was okay, he had higher authority over the assassin, as far as he knew, and this meant, in his mind, that Nixes was going to have to answer to him. Of course, this may not go that way, but it had better, or else Zant may try to take his wrath out on this assassin here, whether or not this Twilian before him was probably a lot faster. There was still the name-drop Zant could pull.

Nixes nodded softly, a smile crossing his face, the small talk putting him slightly more at ease. “Well yes, I suppose it’s similar to what most advisers deal with, maybe to a lesser degree. I’m probably more of a symbol politically. It’s not my main duty, but as we’re not at war, I participated in delegation often.” The Twili shrugged, leaning back lazily as he yawned. It was a balancing act at times; he really didn’t like politics at all. But he wasn’t bad at it, and he enjoyed doing his job to the best of his abilities. So pride tended to win against annoyance, He really was quite lucky to be in his position, taking such a thing for granted would be foolish.
“Oh that?” Nixes mustered out a chuckle, grinning pretty widely. “It’s really nothing, when we add or subtract people from the royal guard I simply have to alter the watches. Making sure security is tight and efficient. It’s not really something someone outside of the military branches would hear about, happens at least once a month.” Nixes smiled somewhat smugly. After all, he still wasn’t sure what to think of this advisor. He had an itching feeling they had a few things in common, and could get along quite well, but Zant also ringed of a certain entitlement that nagged at Nixes. Still this was as good a time as any for the two men to set they’re dynamic
