Aside from the fact that it was also the time that many monsters were out, it was also a time where the most interesting people emerged from their shadowed refuges. Granted, that also included the strange and quirky people, but that guaranteed an eventful encounter was to be had. In addition, one of the greatest places to traverse in the darkness was a bar. A place where adventurers gathered for their refreshments and recuperations.
Amidst the clamorous groups of vagabonds and alike, there lay an empty partition of the vast and dimly lit room. Strangely, the counter, where the bartender stood, wiping away at empty glasses until they were sparkling, was more or less empty, the focal point of the building set upon the sidelines, by the windows that peered into the dark. Few were by the counter, and those few were sitting by their lonesome.
Among the lonely lay a commonplace scene: a man seated upon one of the many stools, hunched over, on the far side of the counter. His head was down, turned to an angle that left his cheek resting upon the smoothly wooden surface, and his eyes were shut, mouth slightly agape with a thin, rhythmic breathing that indicated sleep. Or in this, case, it was most likely unconsciousness.
His left arm lay curled around him on the counter, as though serving as a makeshift pillow for his head, whilst his right arm stretched across the counter, grasping on to a half-empty glass. Additionally found around the strange man was a conglomeration of long-necked bottles, each one more or less empty. It was apparent that the man was peculiarly left undisturbed, and had surprisingly not been kicked out yet. How long such a peaceful state would last, however, was a question soon to be answered. |

Ryan couldn't get drunk. It was physically impossible for him to enter an altered state of consciousness due to alcohol, ever since Naz had gotten his hands on him and messed up how his body worked. That said, it never stopped him from trying to get drunk anyway, and besides, the amount of money you could win from people in drinking contests when you were unable to be intoxicated was staggering, until they caught on of course, then he had to discretely remove himself from the area until their drunken minds forgot about him.
Out of the corner of this eye, he noticed that one of the costumers seemed to have passed out, yet no one was doing anything about it. This was odd in and of itself, as usually unconscious drunks were thrown out of the bar pretty quick. Letting his curiosity get the better of him, Ryan sat down next to the man and gave him a subtle poke, just to see if he could get away with it.

Unfortunately, the peace was likely soon to be disturbed.
Unable to notice the stranger settle in close by, the unconscious blond didn't seem to stir in the slightest, that is, until a tentative poke was given. Even after the obvious intoxication he was probably suffering from, the poke caused a disturbance in his sweet dreaming, eyelids fluttering, but never fully really opening as incoherent words spilled from his mouth in mutters.
And then all of a sudden, like a piranha out of water, the sleeping man's jaws cracked open, and seemingly attempted to find themselves snapping at (or clamping upon) the unwanted disturbance; namely, Ryan's finger. If anything, it was a sudden, comical occurrence, however it had come to be. |

Well, that was new, to say the least. Ryan honestly hadn't been expecting for the stranger to try and BITE him. It was probably the least likely reaction one could expect of the situation. If the man before Ryan was a belligerent drunk he could have expected the man to try and strike him or something for attempting to disturb him, or at the very least just try and cuss him out for bothering him. But biting him? That was something else entirely.
It was thanks to his quick reflexes that Ryan managed to avoid getting his finger chomped by the crazy man. "Wow, really? Biting someone you just met? You should at least buy a guy dinner first if you're going to get in to the kinky stuff, although I am afraid to tell you that you're not my type." Ryan wondered just what kind of person this man was, whom biting seemed to be an acceptable option, clearly not anyone normal, that much was for sure.

As the unidentified stranger spoke, the blond's eyes stirred, gradually creaking open to gather his forgotten surroundings. It was a good thing that the bar wasn't all too bright, else he would have had to cringe and writhe in the dreaded light. Instead, he growled lightly, at his increasing irritation, and almost as a warning.
Only half-listening to this sudden encounter, the Poe loosened his jaw from its clamped state, moving his head gently so as to rub his eyes weary of sleep with his sleeve. Who is this fool? His vision cleared, to reveal a darker-haired man, the only one who deemed it a good idea to seat himself next to an unconscious other, and not to mention proceed to poke him at that.
From his hunched position, he narrowed his gaze, a neutral frown creasing on his lips. One might think he were preparing to rage at him, or swear him out. His fingers uncurled from the glass, and he was surprised that in his reverie he had not knocked the thing over. After moments, he made a fist, and proceeded to slam it against the counter, in a strange attempt to gather the barkeeper's attention, slowly raising his head to stare him in the eye.
"Get me 'nother goddamn drink," He barked, his speech disoriented, but strangely not as slurred as one might have expected to be. With one hand, he massaged his temple, as his other proceeded to jerk a thumb at his new "companion." "'N'this asshole, too, 'f 'e wants one."

Well, this was certainly interesting. First the man tries to bite him, now he offers him a drink? All while calling him names in the process. He had to admit that this wasn't what he had been expecting when he decided to investigate the sleeping man, but he wasn't about to make a fuss over it. Sitting down next to the man and taking the drink, Ryan turned to the would-be drunk and give him a wry look.
"So, what's your deal then? Sleeping in the bar and biting people like that? You know that's a good way to get in trouble right?" As far as Ryan was concerned he was off-duty at the moment. The man simply hadn't committed any crimes, so there was no need for Ryan to be strict with him. Passing out in a bar wasn't a crime until it became a problem for the owner, as for trying to bite him? Well, he should have known better than to try to provoke a drunk, it was his own fault.
