personality,
for a twili, lazuli is very docile and does not enjoy being monstrous like most of her brethren. in fact, she has chosen a shadow beast form that is not beastly at all. lazuli has a sort of social anxiety and is rather shy whenever there are others around. she is quiet and tends to not speak her mind, unless asked her opinion on something. even then, she leaves her response to a one or two word answer. she has always been better showing her feelings through actions instead of words.

one way she shows her emotions is through song. she has a naturally beautiful and soft voice, but when she chirps and tweets as a bird, it is music to the ears. just by listening to her songs, one can tell what sort of mood she is in.

lazuli has always been enraptured by the stories of the light realm and the lore around it. though it amazes her, she is quite terrified of it and hesitant toward any of it's beings. this is why she stays in her "beast" form most of the time.

lazuli's many looks

her humanoid form is very petite, yet slender and somewhat lanky, like most other female twili. her skin is very pale and porcelain-like and does not take on the soft blues like most of the others. it is very susceptible to sunburns so she tends to stay out of the sun.

in the warmer seasons and when her feathers molt, her plumage (and hair color) is shorter and lighter. in the colder seasons, her hair is darker and obviously longer to keep her warmer.

shadow beast

though it's really not a beast at all. in real times, the type of bird that she resembles is called a lazuli bunting. they are the size of a finch, with bright blue feathers and a golden breast, with a white belly. the only thing keeping her apart from a real bird and a twilit beast is the glowing edges of her feathers, quite like the markings on a twili.

history,
lazuli does not remember much of her past. it is not that she has amnesia or anything, it's just she can't remember her parents or what happened to them. for as long as she could remember, she has been alone... but yet, she hasn't been alone. lazuli made friends with some of the people of the realm and has been taken under their wing many times. while she has no true home to call her own, she does have a place to stay if she is ever in trouble. lazuli found it hard to stay with others without doing anything in return, so she took up a liking to singing on the streets for some extra gold.

the only education she has ever received was from her friend binal, a friendly twili who had taken her in at one point or another. he was fairly old and knew of the legends of the interlopers. he told her about their history and the legends and lore surrounding the twilight realm and the realm of light. since then, her interest in it has never waned, and she has dreamed of going to the light realm.

when princess midna opened the passageway to the light realm, lazuli's dream had come true. however, the light realm was not at all as fun as she had hoped. their sun burnt her skin and left her hurt. some of the people were not all that nice, either. it scared her into submission, so that now she only stays in her little beast form and chirps to people, hoping to make friends that way before revealing herself much more.
