The oasis was quite possibly the most brilliant gift nature could ever have given.
Dotting the unforgiving wasteland, baskets of vibrant color and life and such peace.
It was here that Eliam had arranged a meeting with a dragon.
Time would tell whether the oasis would survive or not.

The sand shifted under his weight, the large dragon slamming into the sand with a loud thump, sending up a small cloud of sand. It was dry outside though, and didn't take long for the sand to settle down.
"Hm...?"
Shavir shifted into his human form, feeling the sun bake against his soft clothing.
"Eliam." He was still unsure why he had been summoned, but an Ainur was always an ally.

The dragon was here. The game was afoot. Eliam greeted him with a warm handshake. "I'm glad you could make it, Shavir."
Retreating into the oasis, Eliam reached up to the branches of a pear tree heavy with fruit and sat down on the ground at the edge of a clear pool as he bit into the pear, infinitely thankful for the desert's bounty. "Tell me, what do you think of our current emperor?"

He shook the Ainur's hand, following him over to where he picked the fruit and got comfortable. Shavir chose to stand, and enjoy the deserts basking heat. He did bend over however, and cup his hand through the water, drinking some of it.
"Night?"
He raised an eyebrow, remembering back to what he had done with Merik. They had kept it a secret obviously, as Shavir had basically gained some trust from the Gerudo King.
"He is a powerful leader." Shavir was uneasy. Perhaps a trap? He wasn't sure, but he had to remain alert.

"Is that all?" Eliam asked as he kept eating, finishing the pear in its entirety, core and stem included. "What will the world be like in a hundred years if Nightmare's rule continues? A world where the Ainur can only meet wearing human shells?"
The undertone in Eliam's voice spoke volumes. Volumes that told Shavir he looked ridiculous.
The seated monster sought out their reflection in the water and met his mirror image's eyes. "Nightmare Darklight needs to be replaced. I will become Emperor, and I will lead Hyrule into an era of peace and true equality."
He turned his head to look up at Shavir. "I need your help. I must become a Dreadnought."

"A world where true equality exists. Ha- that exists only in the dreams of children. A Fantasy." He stared in the oasis, his words simply a reflection of lies he had told himself. He wanted to believe in what the Ainur was saying, but how the hell would Eliam succeed?
"Even if you could change our children's future, how do you plan to overthrow Nightmare?" He was frustrated, which was good. It showed that he agreed with Eliam.

Eliam couldn't help himself. He smiled. It was not a smile of triumph, but of genuine happiness. Somewhere in his heart, Shavir wanted exactly what Eliam was setting out to achieve. There was peace in every heart. "I will convince the kings and queens of Hyrule to demand his abdication."
Eliam looked down into his own lap. "If he will not step down," he said regretful, "My people and I will have to kill him. I will do my very best to keep it from ever coming to violence, but I will succeed. At any cost."

Shavir listened, his brow furrowing. The idea was fantastic. It was just that though, a fantasy. Eliam would have to play all the cards right, and he would need to become a dreadnought indefinitely, no questions asked. If Shavir suddenly stepped down, with the current situation, and Eliam stepped up, it would shift suspicion in the people's minds.
"I've always been a man of the better good, for the future of my people. Personal glory means nothing to me." He thought for a moment, thinking back on various moments throughout his life. "You realize if you are to follow down this path, then you are declaring treason, and may be prosecuted if the situation fails."
He had another problem- if he were to lose his position as dreadnought, it would mean his death. The battle would need to be public.

At Shavir's comment, Eliam stood up and once more reached up into the low branches of the pear tree. He tossed one to his companion and bit into another. "And what is the alternative? Do nothing? Should I stay silent when I know that we can be so much more than what we are now? There lies the true treason."
Suddenly Eliam descended on Shavir, wrapping the dragon's human shell in an embrace. "I am not afraid of them," he whispered into his ear. "I love them too much."

He gritted his teeth, and remained motionless. Perhaps Eliam didn't know what he was proposing here- or perhaps he did, and Shavir just wasn't reading the Troll as well as he thought he was.
"Gnh.....very well. You need to be a Dreadnought?"
Shavir took a bite of the fruit, licking his lips. Fruit was a delicacy, his favorite.

"I need to be Emperor," he said simply, stepping back a little.
"Dreadnought is only the first step."

"Then you'll know what to do...." He figured at this point Eliam was on the same page as Shavir. You didn't just step down from your position as Dreadnought. Eliam would need to kill him in battle, before an audience to justify the truthfulness of the fight.
"I have one thing to take care of then. I'll be in touch."
Shavir turned, finishing his fruit with a single bite. He then took the form of his true nature, and lifted from the air, departing the oasis.

As the dragon left, Eliam resumed his seat by the pool, retreating into the innermost recesses of his mind in meditation.
He did not want to kill the dragon.
But Goddesses help him, he would. And parts of him, parts of him he was working desperately to kill, would love it.
