"Unfortunately my business involves an ancient and rather obscure bit of religious information that I'd rather others didn't know I had access to...were it not for the fact that Fairies are probably the oldest race in Hyrule I wouldn't even consider them as a viable source. That being said, if Titania has no qualms with it you'd probably be able to about have free rein to go wherever in the Palace." Merik said as he slipped a bit closer to the ground.
His eyes went to hers once again as he read a bit into them silently.
"Go ahead and get some sleep, I'll take the first watch." he said as he returned Nairore's smile, though with slightly more life than hers had held. "With the way the forest has been so far I figure it'll be yet another quiet night for us."

"Understandable," she said simply in response to Merik's explanation. Exactly as she had concluded. He mentioned free reign of the Fairy Court but truthfully Nairore only saw the stop as a problem. She would have to avoid as many people as she could and hope Titania didn't in turn mention her presence there to her father. Furthermore she'd be left once more to her thoughts with naught to do, unless she just took to doing laps around the palace itself, but then her muscles would probably refuse considering the work-out they'd been getting lately.
His second comment was equally disheartening. He was taking first shift which meant a restless night's sleep. As he stared at her, their eyes meeting, she felt two contradicting feelings at once, neither of which she liked. The first was discomfort as she knew he was seeing beyond just her eyes, seeing into the fog that clouded her mind. Was he just being manipulative? Was this sort of charm put on to confuse her? Those thoughts were answered by the second unwelcome feeling: comfort. Despite all her best efforts her defenses were crumbling fast and she knew it, but she struggled to find a reason why that was a problem.
She didn't say anything further, deciding it best not to trust her own voice. Instead she turned over to put her back to the fire, and to Merik coincidentally, perhaps, and attempted to go to sleep. It was the first night since they'd been traveling that she didn't keep her dagger handy and while Naurlambe was never far from hand it would hardly help if Merik tried something. Then again would a knife help in such a scenario when he had easily proven himself better than her.
Her head rested against her hands as she stared off into the darkness of the forest. She felt like a child, confused by simple things like emotion. All her life she'd trained to put emotion behind her, yet here it was clouding her mind and keeping her awake at night. Her eyelids not only felt light, but they felt spring-loaded, that every time they would droop or close they'd merely bounce back open. She sighed and nuzzled into her hands, wishing irrationally that Lori was there to give her one of those massages despite the fact that the ache of her body was the furthest thing from her mind.

Merik sat quietly against the tree as Nairore turned from him towards the forest. He listened to the sounds of the area around him and just enjoyed the night scenery. Knowing how much harder the training had been tonight, he intended to let her sleep the full night.
The King wasn't worried about one night without sleep, he had pulled longer shifts on the sea whilst in the midst of danger, from the last few nights he knew this evening would bring no trouble to either of them. In fact he was fairly certain that their journey would be safe until they approached his actual destination...that was when the real danger would reveal itself. Even though Merik was loyal he fully expected to be severely tested by his master in exchange for the prize he sought so desperately.
And so the night slowly drifted on, neither traveler found sleep as they awaited the arrival of dawn to signal to continuation of their journey...
[Fadeout and finished]
