There was nobody to watch over her shoulder and make sure she was doing everything just right. Her parents weren't nagging her to be serious. Jamie was out and about, exploring Hyrule as slowly as she could! It was quite easy to explore at the pace of a turtle; Hyrule was chock full of things to do. Her years in Snowpeak were fun, but the activities there were very limited. The only things worth doing were hard to do in the first place. The Yetis made a wonderful game of ice skiing, but it was hard work getting to the top of the tallest peak... Of course, they would sometimes help carry her, but Jamie always felt guilty after. Jamie would have much preferred sitting by the water's edge with a fishing line dipped into the water, but all their water was frozen...
That's why one of her ventures led her to Zora's River. Despite not liking water, she was very thrilled to have found someplace new. The sound of the rushing river hitting the cliff sides was peaceful, she couldn't help but get entranced enough to follow the river, just to see where it led. She eventually came to the end of her journey by ending up in a little cove. There was a dam with a house built on top. If that wasn't intriguing enough for the pup, there was also a door built right into the side of the cliff. A door in the rocks? Just what was behind that door? If Jamie had never wanted to explore what was behind it, she would not be sitting down in the lush grass, her feet dangling in the water.
A beautiful lake was on the other side of that door. There were trees full of blossoms, the grass was tall and soft against her almost bare feet. Though she wore a long piece of cloth that wrapped around her foot, her little toes were left bare so she could always feel the texture of the ground she walked on. This ground was very inviting. Jamie spun on her heel for a moment before making her way to the lone house.
Jamie lifted her hand and curled it into a soft fist, so that she could knock gently against the door. "Hello~ Is there anyone home?" Indeed there was! To make a long story short, Jamie met the owner of the fishing hole, who then allowed her to borrow a pole and some bait. She sent her on her way to fish for as long as she wanted!
It was so nice learning how to fish by one's self. Jamie didn't have her parents hovering over her, telling her exactly what to do. It was always like that at home. In order to be the best "wise one" she could be, Jamie had to learn the ins and outs of everything, and get it exactly right. There was no room for a mistake. But being out here took the pressure off! Jamie fumbled with the hook at first, careful not to stab herself. She prayed for a moment before she had to stick the poor little grub to the hook. "I'm very sorry, little friend, but I need a fishie!" With that, Jamie threw her bait into the water, let it sink, and she waited... and waited... and waited.
For Jamie, a few minutes seemed like hours. Where were the fishies!? She hadn't received any tugging on the pole. Did the fishies like her? Her ears pressed against her head as she whimpered at the water, one hand reached away from her pole to bat at the rippling waves. "Little fishies! Come on, I know you are there. I will not hurt you! I just want to... make friends." Truth be told, she was actually pretty hungry, but she promised the owner that she would catch a pretty fish to put in a tank so that she could be kept company. Jamie just kept on talking to her pole, her mouth aimed down at the water. How silly it must look to see a curious wolf girl talking to herself.[/style] |

Ein was mounting across the final boulder before seeing Lake Hylia. He did a double take with the map in his other hand. Yup, this was the place. It looked pretty neat too. The water sparkled in an unnatural shade of blue - not dark blue, not green like most lakes, but a pure color. You could see below to a certain extent. Ein carefull placed a toe over the boulder, but found that there was nothing underneath, and in the next second, skidding uncomfortably down a half dirt half stone wall. Luckily, a few bushes managed to cushion his fall. His head was still in a daze as he lifted himself out of the green clumps of spiky twigs and leaves. These were the kind of things Lavi reprimanded him for! Carelessly almost getting himself hurt.. but he always seemed to make it out in the end. Even when he was 10, in that terrible incident.
Ein, still on his knees, looked down at a nearby puddle, staring back at him was an 18 year old traveler, with a bony face, thin white hair, and most peculiarly, a chalky and large red scar under his left eye. He hated it - the eye that separated him from his hard, overworked traveling life from his innocent childhood. No point in hanging around admiring himself though. Ein got to his feet, adjusting his knapsack and parted a few tree branches and bushes out to the full view of the lake. It was even more beautiful up close, the blue, the green, the white, the red.. wait, there was something else. Apparently, a woman. He could only see her back, but he'd never seen anyone dressed so.. how could he say it. Foreignly? Extravagantly? It seemed really pretty, but strange to him at the same time. He decided it didn't pose a threat to him and trudged on. He made his way to the left before slipping on soggy mud. His left cheek tainted with mud and his entire body prostrated, Ein, with an expression of utmost contempt on his face, spit out some dirt that got in his mouth.
It was gonna be a long.. year.. day.. month. He didn't know how long he'd be staying in Hyrule. Maybe all his life - or he'd just pass along like the same stranger he was to the other lands he visited.

Jamie's lip puffed in a pout. The fish still weren't biting! But that didn't matter much now because she heard some movement behind her. When she turned to look, she saw that a boy had fallen into some mud. Her tender, mothering side kicked in as she immediately jumped up, dropping her pole in the process. Her task had been pushed to the back of her mind. Right now, her current concern was the boy who fell.
"Oh dear, are you all right?" Jamie moved so quickly and swiftly, it seemed like she was floating. The loose fabrics of her robes could not keep up, as they flowed out like wings behind her. When she stopped, it took the fabric a few seconds to drape around her legs again. She placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and smiled softly.
Her free hand reached into her robe for a brief moment. She had pulled out a clean, white handkerchief. "You have some mud on your face." Then the motherly wolf did something a little unexpected. She licked the tip of the kerchief and then she pressed it against the smudge, and she began to wipe it off. Let's hope he didn't mind some wolf slobber~![/style] |

At first he had no idea what was happening. A voice spoke to him from above, and he was turned to face the woman from before. She looked totally different up close - maybe because she seemed too red or white from a distance. She dabbed a handkerchief at his cheeks - which were beginning to become increasingly red.
How long has it been since someone did this for me?
Deja vu, except for the fact that his original mother did not have as lacy or extravagant robes. He briefly wondered how old she was. When she finished Ein was too stunned to speak, but hurriedly forgot to stammer, "Th-thank you."

"Okay, all better!" Now that her deed was done, Jamie sat back and nodded as he thanked her. Doing nice things was never a problem for Jamie. She quite enjoyed helping others! She tucked her kerchief back into her robe, not minding that it was soiled, and she blinked in curiosity as she looked at him.
"What is that?" she asked gently, to show she meant no offense by her question. A pointed index finger reached out to the mark on his face. It would be quite odd if she asked it in a mean way, for she had markings on her skin as well. The marks on her face were the only ones that were really visible at the moment, for the rest on her shoulders, stomach, hips and legs were covered by the long fabric of her dress. No matter what it was on his face, or how he got it, Jamie still felt a shred of sadness for the boy. Looking at it only brought back memories of how she got hers... It made her face crinkle as if she was in pain.
Her head quickly shook to shake off such emotions from her face. Such expressions did not belong on the Minish Chief's face.[/style] |

It looked like facepaint, but it was not. The deep red was his own flesh and blood. It was nothing to him.. yet, it was the reason why he was here today. "This.."
Ein wore an expression of deep reminiscence and heavy chastisement. Whenever a monster came near, his world turned to a vision of bloody crimson. Some say it could be useful. It had the potential to become something great, but he didn't want it. Ein didn't want any of it.
"..It's nothing."[/style] |
