Sitting by the water's edge was a lone sheikah watching a school of fish swim on by. His crimson eyes stared off at the shimmering reflection of the clean crystal clear color of the smooth surface of the lake. Rey was off in his own little world thinking of what happened in light of recent events. He got his job done from earlier after a wild goose chase with a couple of mischievous fairies. That kind of experience was enough to potentially scar someone now that he thought about it. He couldn't fathom how kids or fairies the like found enjoyment out of harassing people in those parts of the forest.
After the fairy encounter it was relatively peaceful again. He didn't run into anymore trouble while he prolonged his stay in Ordon. Rey found that he was growing fond of the small town, and the area surrounding it. In a way it gave him a sense of home even though he knew where his actual home was. He smiled softly thinking over the old saying 'home is where the heart is'. If only he knew where his heart wandered off to then he would know truly where it truly belongs.
Rey straightened his posture and performed a good stretch to relax his stiff limbs. Staring up at the sky his train of thoughts took a turn back to one of the fairies that gave him trouble back in the forest. The one that tricked him by pretending she was lost. She really was a cutie, he mused mentally.
(Sorry for the sucky intro Dx)

It was another beautiful day in Ordon. The skies were as blue as ever with clouds overhanging lazy circles within their domain casually floating on by. Link had the day off from working on the ranch so he decided to do a bit of fishing. Colin went out of his way to make it for him so it was time to put it to use! There was a soft tapping each time his sandal hit the ground with each step he took as he strolled along to the lake. On his way over he gave a wave to those in the neighborhood who passed him by. The children of the village were running around without a care in the world playing all sorts of adventurous games. The hylian smiled with earnest joy to be apart of such a relaxing day.
Days off came far, and few. When he got them he wanted to enjoy the day to the fullest with something productive. On these days it wouldn't have been uncommon to see him with the children either. Even though he was one of the elder youths of the village, he was glad to be considered apart of their gang rather than just another adult. Friends came in all shapes, and sizes. This didn't exclude age in the formula as well.
His eyes quickly caught sight of something amiss to this whole image of tranquility. He paused in the midst of his tracks as he came across an interesting sight. He blinked. There was someone already by the water's edge relaxing on this sunny day. He had a firm grip on his fishing rod in one hand and the other holding onto the line near the hook. Link hoped that he wasn't intruding on the guy. "Oh. Sorry, I didn't realize there was someone here," he said sincerely.

The sound of rustling footsteps against the earthly alerted Rey of another presence approaching. His red eyes perked up as he turned around to face a hylian. It was quite clear to see he was one of the elven-like race with his long ears for one thing, and just the way he held himself up.
Whether they realized it or not, they all stood in a way that made them seem tall in the sense that they have superiority in away. Something about it didn't sit well on the sheikah's tongue when he thought about that. It was immediately turned a blind eye to take the chance to know the boy better than to base everything off of assumptions, and race alone.
He shook his head softly telling him he wasn't of any trouble to him. A friendly smile popped up on his face as he offered for the boy to come join him. He really didn't put any claims to the spot so it was open for anyone to come. "No need to apologize," he replied, "You're more than welcomed to fish here, mate."
Rey noticed right away that he was one of the residents of the village. One of the members of the small town that he didn't seem around up until now, but he seemed friendly enough. Everyone had been kind to the sheikah's appearance here so he was very grateful to the open hospitality. There was a major difference in environments between the big cities, and small towns such as Ordon. Everyone in cities like Castle Town were always in a rush to be somewhere, and never have any time to stop and say hello to a friendly face. Over here, it was the exact opposite.
"I'm Rey," he introduced himself first, "What's your name?"

Travelers from other parts of Hyrule were far, and few when coming to the small town such as his home. He was quite curious as to where did travelers come from, and where do they go. What motivated them to leave, and travel so far away from where they were born? Not to mention the if they ever return back home at all. Or perhaps did they find another home somewhere out there? Link hoped that one day he may be asking those types of questions for himself should the time arise for him to leave Ordon Village. In the mean time, he was welcomed by the stranger much to the Hylian's delight. "Link," he replied. He was certainly glad to hear the sheikah didn't mind his company. Link took a few more steps approaching the water's edge, and got some bait out before placing it on the hook. When he was ready, a good toss into the water was all it took to begin what would be the peak of his day. He perched himself on the soft grass below joining beside Rey to enjoy the cool air beside the lake. When he got himself all settled in his seat, he returned his eyes back over to his new found companion, and with a smile he said, "Thank you, Rey."OOC: -failz- Short post. T_T

Rey saw traveling mostly as a matter of preference. There were many ways to broaden your horizons, and it didn't include just traveling off to far off places. Regardless of how people may think so otherwise. There was tranquility, and peace that nobody else could find when they've found the place they truly belong in. Finding a home was a remarkable feeling to treasure.
The hylian was lucky in that part as he appeared to know this was the place meant for him. Rey still had a bit of traveling to do before he knew exactly where his place was in this wide, wide world. Still... he was quite content in his position due to his chances of meeting new friends such as this encounter before him.
The sheikah watched the boy toss his line in the fishing hole before sitting down. Rey was actually surprised that someone who appeared around the same age as him had the patience to sit for hours on end waiting for a fish to bite. To him, fishing wasn't exactly his cup of tea as far as sports went. He supposed though he couldn't think of any other sport appropriate for the day. "No problem," he replied back. "Is this a hobby or do you actually fish for a living?"
It was a legit question. They had a big enough lake to supply their village with a sustainable amount of fish. It was meat on the market along with other livestock they had around. This was just Rey speculating though. He was quite curious more or less...

On a perfect day such as this Link could only argue that it was made even better with having such good company. Especially someone who didn't mind a small conversation to make time go by while he waited for the fish to start nibbling his line. He took a quick glimpse at his line watching for a fish tempted to take a nip at the hook. The bait was irresistable to ignore. He had to tell himself it was all a matter of preservation of patience then before he knew it, he'd have a catch! Rey's voice took his attention away from the water as he asked if the hylian an easy to answer question. "Oh, I'm no fisherman. This is a hobby," he explained, "I'm actually a rancher. Most of my work consists of goat herding, and taking care of the village's livestock."
It was a plain average country boy's job but from the smile across Link's face, it was clear that he enjoyed his work, and the life established around it. Sure, he wouldn't mind seeing the world one day, but there was no place that could beat home. There were many fond memories made here with those he cares about. Not that he was shutting out making even more memories down the road, but it was something he thought about every now and then.
"Where are you from, Rey?" he asked out of pure curiousity. There was nothing impressive for the blond to talk about in his daily life, but that didn't stop him from wanting to know what it was like outside of his hometown, and Ordona province as a whole. All, and all, it turned out to be a good day with the way his luck was turning out.

Rey replied with a small nod of his head. He could actually see the boy as a rancher rather than a fisherman to be fair. The sheikah looked over at the water actually eager to see if Link would catch something. Yes, he was easily entertained by watching someone fish. He was not a hard to please type of guy - and he's never fished before. He had the feeling that the fish were on to their little game, and weren't going to fall for such trickery. Then again he could be wrong...
Just watch as a fish bites onto the hook just so karma could prove him otherwise.
Link was a lucky one. Rey saw that he was quite grateful for the life he was given. A happy one; filled with friends and a simple life to go by. He couldn't say he was envious of the easy life he had, but he sure was lucky enough to be blessed with a happy life. The sheikah could only hope that he would find joy somewhere out there for himself one day too. Something the hylian made him realize without actually holding a philosophical conversation. They weren't old men reminiscing on their past lives.
Ironically, they were both talking by the water and fishing like old men.
He knew it would come up eventually. His companion was curious about where he came from. It wasn't a bad thing, but it made Rey smile amused that he wanted to know a little more about himself. "Castle Town," he answered simply, "As you could imagine, Sheikah are making a come back, but our numbers are still small. Our clan are very close to the Hylian Royal Family, serving as guardians. I didn't think being a royal guard was meant for me so I left home to go on my own adventures."

Link stared at Rey for a moment. Was his decision really as simple as that? He didn't want to be a guardian for the Royal Family. Instead he wanted to find his lot in life out adventuring Hyrule. His choice was just as easy as picking out what kind of dinner he would serve for the evening. Simplicity, gotta love how people can still hold onto it. Not everything in life had to be so complicated after all. It got the blond youth thinking...
His time will come when he too will leave his home to explore the outer regions of Ordona. He couldn't place his finger on it but he was absolutely positive that he would travel a good distance. Far away from home, and he'll make sure to enjoy every minute of it. Ignorance was most certainly a bliss as Link knew nothing of what may be in stored for him.
All of this talking about what may come, and traveling got him so wrapped up in his thoughts. He didn't realize he was getting a pull on his rod until that very moment. He snapped out of his out-of-it daze before began a tug-o-war session with a bite. He actually got a bite! His bright blue eyes widened with excitement, and determination. He tugged on the line firmly, but carefully so as the fish or he himself wouldn't break the line.

It didn't take rocket science to pick out a choice on how you live your life. It was a matter of how living your life made you feel, and if desired change. You didn't necesarrily have to be miserable to want change. It was more of a matter of just wanting something different such like finding individuality amongst a sea of faces. That didn't mean you had to stand alone for what you believed in, but more importantly understanding thus accepting what it is that you stand for.
Though Rey agreed in the end that there was always something for everyone. Whether you're happy with living your life a peaceful, and happy life or if you're a risk taker, aiming for adventures in high places. Life was filled with many oppurtunities for those who seek it. That was how the sheikah viewed most of life's twists and turns.
"Hey, you got a bite there, Link," he smiled. "Don't give up!" Amusement danced in his eyes watching the boy struggle with his catch. Should he be rooting for his friend? There was a thought for a moment. Did this make them automatically friends now? He hoped so. Link seemed like a good guy - the type of guy who appreciated every day that he was livng, and the gifts brought to him. Gifts as in the simply joys life brought in everyone's life.
