This was strange, he floated down there’s starring ahead at the darkness. The thing about being a deep sea predator was that the sense of smell. And yet he could not smell anything nearby. Usually in this area he could smell this strange burning. Burning and that poison that the Joor drank. Yet there was no smell of that, there was only the smell of fish.
Now whilst eating fish was satisfying enough everyone knew that there was a point were even the most patient of creatures would like to have some variety in their diets. And well this point had just occurred with leviathan. He was at the stage were the Joor on the sea had now become an enjoyable treat. One that he could have and he could hunt at the same time. The hunting part was the most fun of the task.
It gave him something to occupy his mind. The Joor after all for all their weakness did have weapons that were capable of stinging him, a nd ti was the focus on avoiding that sting that made such a hunt so much more thrilling. And yet here he was in the queit and the dark. Alone and without prey to hunt. Bored. Hungry. Annoyed.

Had he over hunted them?
Impossible. Thus far he had destroyed a total of eight of those wooden beasts, their ships and on each there was around twenty to thirty of the joor. With that in mind he had probably only ate around 140 of them. Allowing some survivors. After all he couldn’t get EVERY single one. One hundred and forty by the standards of the Joor was not enough to establish a viable population count meaning that it was more likely they had just realised that they were being hunted.
This would make hunting them more difficult no doubt, avoiding spots at which they had been hunted before. So he’d actually have to go out and look for his meal this time.
That alone would provide enough of an enjoyable thrill he supposed. The thrill of the hunt, he never often experienced it, there was never a direct thing that he ever hunted for. Always he would eat no matter what it was, anything that was in front of him just to satisfy his gargantuan appetite. But now, he had something else along with that hunger to go on. He had the thrill, the excitement of chasing down a prey that he desired specifically. He imagined that this was much like the creature that the Jul knew as wolves felt when they chased down the deer. A thrill of hunting. Although he could not do this in a pack as they did.
But nor did he require to. After all he was alone, but he was large enough and strong enough to take them down on his own. So with a deep breath of the sea, he took in the scents and knowledge. And headed off in the direction of a stale scent.
Old perhaps. But it had direction. It had purpose.

The scent of the Jul was something that one had to really ignore half the time when you were riding about in the depths of the ocean, their stink was everywhere after all. He knew that this was origen not the way that it was in times long past. Why things had changed he did not know. For he lacked with that the knowing which came with experience. With true memory. Instinct taught him many things. To adapt, so survive. To kill and to know the langauge that would give him communcation. But not the things like this. Not to understand the incomprehnsible.
But today that stench was being embraced. After all today he was on the hunt and the huntee was the Jul. But yet after several hours of searching the scent hadn't led him anywhere. The jul had dumped so many things in the ocean that their stench tended to be all around the place. But after all this searching. At just onee moment of fate Leviathan happened to get lucky. But it wasn't the Jul that he was looking for.
These ones were different. They didn't seem to be aggressive. But they did seem to be rather...territorial. He couldn't really put the thought on just what made him feel that it was just.the spread of the beasts, the ships. They seemed to form around an area, the larger ones around the area bordering it off from the outside. The smaller weaker ones on the inside.
He wasn't sure what to make of them. So he simply continued to watch. To learn. Just who were these new Jul? Did they have something to do with the disappearance of the old? Perhaps.

So he was learning something new everyday.Apparantly in thes waters there were two types of predatory Jul. The typical ones that used the waters like hunting grounds. Killing the wooden beasts of the other Jul and then raiding them and using them for themselves. These Jul on the other hand had something totally different. They didn't raise the same kind of alarm levels as the others, smaller wooden beasts moved through their ranks, albiet they were stopped every now and again, he didn't know why they were stopping, perhaps it was to check if they were suitable for eating.
Perhaps not. He floated under there in the deep dark. Watching. Their behavviour reminded him of whales. They were larger than the other predators and seemed to be just aas powerful as them, though he wasn't going to risk moving in on them yet.
But the difference therein was their protective nature in combination with terrirtorial activity. They were passive aggressive. A show of aggressiveness without actually having to physically create a display. It was an interesting move for such creatures. Leviathan determiend that indeed they would make suitable prey if he was going to attack and hunt them. But, there was something holding him back from doing so. Whilst he had been watching them, he wasn't fully sure of their motives or means. Not that this much mattered with food. But there was a group of them. And there were more heading in and out of this area. For most predators there was simply the idea of food, need to eat. And then eat.
But for Leviathan this wasn't just about eating. This was about the hunt. And he wanted to be the hunter. The one in control of everything. And attacking whilst they were grouped in a defensive position like this. Even if he had the advantage. Was not a good idea
