He was so giving, so caring. He looked out for her and her sister, gave them the world. He didn't even question her. Nairore felt bad for what she was planning, what she was doing, and the tension in her stomach tightened. She was taking advantage of her father's good will. There was no way this man could slaughter innocents, nor be as bad as Merik seemed to think he was. But she was doing it for him. The doubt was merely something she clung to to drive her, she knew it had no anchorage inside of her mind.
"I will make you proud, father," she said, some of the solemnity she felt slipping through to her voice. Fortunately the topic at hand could easily be considered solemn on its own, what with her leaving home for the first time in order to train. Yet the overbearing feeling of guilt dulled the pang she should be feeling about leaving her father. It was more emotion than she was used to feeling at any one point; she'd never been that emotional, had always seen things in the most straightforward way. Yet this plan she had concocted was anything but.
She stood up with her father and looked up at the large man. Even in the presence of the guilt she was feeling she was able to look her father in the eye and give him a smile. It was fake, completely, but then she was used to faking facial expressions. She had to at times; she wasn't an overly mirthful person in a position where many tried to bring her mirth. Sometimes it was just better to give them a taste of what they seek than to bloody their nose. That much even she knew.
Perhaps the deceit was part of her heritage. The Gerudo were natural bandits and beguilers; maybe she had picked it up without even realizing it. Though she was now beginning to wonder if it all really was a curse or not, if perhaps Merik had been right in that regard. Soon enough she would find out. The thought of training, even under Merik, was enough to add some genuine excitement to her smile. She stepped forward and hugged her father. "You'll need to explain it to Lori; I don't think I'll have time to see her before I leave if I'm to make it back to the Festival and find him." Lying to her father was hard. Lying to Lori would be near impossible.
