Starring incredulously at the sheet in front of him, Virion's eyebrows knitted themselves together into a bemused frown. He turned the paper over, and the huge Hylian letters blared out in front of him 'WAYS TO AVOID BEING DETECTED.' After rereading the words over and over again to make sure that he indeed had the right paper, the demon reluctantly turned the page over and looked at step two, this time, without much interest. The methods in here were already not to his liking at all. There was a fat chance that they were not going to work. How the hell was he supposed to avoid being detected if he couldn't see anything?
Trust Vir to be constantly judgmental and cynical about everything~
He was fully aware that he was currently walking randomly down the streets of Castle Town in broad daylight, ignoring the jitters and stares from its people about his odd appearance. Right now, all the monster wanted was to finish reading this junk, following his own personal rules about finishing whatever you started. Already making up his mind to dump the ridiculous note back into the alley in which he had found it in, (having spotted it earlier with the hope that it would work initially as he did not like being taken notice of) green eyes locked onto step two.
"Step two-" |
[/i] he muttered under his breath. Thud.A low, irritated growl escaped his lips before he could help himself and the demon lowered the sheet to stare at the person he had just bumped into. A jumble of thoughts immediately buzzed into his head, one of him blaming himself that it was his fault for not looking at where was going, another one cursing himself for his carelessness, and one that screamed at him to apologize immediately. It was the latter thought that seemed more urgent that Vir blinked and quickly tucked the note behind his back, clenching the paper in a pale fist, suddenly finding himself resisting the urge to box the figure in front of him. "I, uhm." he said awkwardly. Shit! "I apologize." let sleeping dogs lie "Sweet holy Goddesses damn," The strangely non sequitur cursing emitted from her mouth, as something, or rather, someone, had bumped into her from behind, sending her forwards a few unwilling steps before she would be able to stabilize herself. Once she had done so, Nikiya spun abruptly on her heels, ready to reach out and grab the disturbance by the collar, should they attempt to try and flee the scene and blame it on another. Fortunately, her arm did not have a need to shoot out and do so, for the stranger had stopped where he had crashed, looking as though he was hastily trying to hide something, maybe in his pockets, she would assume
At first glance, there was truly not much she could say about the character before her. Pale. Unusual. But interesting enough. Enough to spare him from a ranting or a biting, seeing as today she was under her minish guise. At the thought, she licked her maw, as if in hunger, as the latter began to speak, and she raised an expectant brow, the canine ears flicking atop her silver head of hair. Why did she always encounter the strange and awkward ones? Not that she minded; they were the fun ones to mess with.
"Darn right you do!" She rubbed it in the male's face, probably making the situation no better. But, that was enough being a douche to him, she supposed, since she wasn't really all that angry. The only thing she lost was... well. Her crimson eyes glanced behind her to the ground as she mentally exhibited an anguished cry. The only thing she lost was a perfectly cooked fish she had managed to pilfer just moments ago. Nonono, she was angry with him. Definitely, yes.
The Ainur frowned, thinking of what to do, when the idea simply came to her, disregarding the prospect of picking up and eating the fish anyways. She narrowed her eyes, though more in contemplation than menace. "I'll forgive you, if you tell me what you were so enthralled by that you can't even walk properly." The gavel was laid down with her judgment. In all truth, though, this was not pay back for anything. She was just curious about what the stranger was attempting to hide.

[style=width: 350px; font-family: times; letter-spacing: -2px; font-size: 18px;]JUST STOP FOR A MOMENT AND SMILE[/style][style=width: 350px; font-family: arial; line-height: 10px; text-align: justify; font-size: 10px; border-top: #C9C9C9 10px solid; padding: 5px; border-left: #C9C9C9 10px solid;] Even though it was completely his fault, the loud, outraged cursing that emitted from the figure that he had bumped into made the monster's lips twitch slightly in disapproval. It wasn't nice to curse the goddess outright, and though he was skeptical that such a thing existed, the fact remained that the girl in front of him was cursing. Virion had never been a fan of foul language of any sort, and frankly, had never uttered so much as an oath unless he had to. Nevertheless, despite his approval, he kept his mouth shut, his lips pursuing together. His brow twitched slightly, a clear sign that he was uncomfortable with all of this. Tightening his hold on the already crumpled paper behind him, Virion waited for the white-haired female minish reaction (already coming to the conclusion that she was indeed one, her lupine ears said it all), not looking forward to whatever she had in store for him. "Darn right you do!" she barked and he cringed slightly. She sure was a feisty one for a minish. The male had always thought that they were a peace loving race, but it seemed that this one was an exception. His green eyes followed her crimson gaze behind them to settle on a piece of fish that must have fallen during the collision. It was bad enough that he had collided with someone, but the wasting of food as well? He wondered if he should pick it up and look around for a stray cat; the demon was sure that the animal would no doubt appreciate the meal. "Hmm?" The young lady's words snapped him out of his thoughts, and he blinked, clearly startled at her request. A wave of embarrassment rushed through him, the note clenched in his fist right now had been the source of all this, not to mention his carelessness. Virion considered the thought of simply blowing up the note with a shot of Cero at this moment, but he was at fault here, and the girl did deserve an explanation. "I had been...reading, miss." he said reluctantly and then quickly added. "It does not matter though, it isn't of importance, really. It was just something I happened to find on the streets." Damn right he had.And as though his mind was unwilling to dwell on the matter, before he knew it, the next words popped out of his mouth. "Do you want another fish, miss?"((i totally forgot about this thread, my gawd. o-o it was my fault really, i hadn't been active. ;A; herro thar.)) [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] The raised brow given by the female could not have gotten any more skeptic. This was definitely an odd one. But she was an abnormality as well, and you know what they say: Two losers make a winner. Usually. Though this was a pretty demeaning thought train to have boarded in the first place. Whisking her thoughts away, she duly noted the unusually surprised reaction the man had given her. Even if she knew nothing about him, that action alone revealed much to her.
Reading, huh. In her life as a wild monster, she was very unfamiliar with the action. Upon retreating to civilization, Nikiya managed to gather bits and pieces of the art of reading and writing, but she was not incredibly adept at it. "If it's nothing important, then I'm sure there'd be no problem showing it to me," The wolfos retorted coyly, tail flicking behind her. Though she often hid her animal characteristics, she had to admit it was comforting and freeing to not shove them under her clothes every now and then.
"Or rather, read it out loud." She added soon after, realizing her partial inability may prove this mission fruitless. "You were doing so before you ran into me, anyways, weren't you?" She may not have heard exactly what he had been saying prior, but she did know that someone had been speaking. She didn't have dog ears for nothing.
The man's next words caught her attention more than the mysterious paper. "Fi..." He was offering free food, right? Why would she ever think to deny that? Did he even have to ask? "Wait, wait," She stopped herself before she thought too far and started drooling or something. "One, if you think this'll get you out of reading your paper, think again. Two, you can drop the 'miss.' You're clearly older than me, no offense, plus I'm not great with formalities, and three, I'll gladly take you up on your offer." With that, she had covered everything, or so she hoped. Not a bad guy.

The girl couldn't have made it any clearer that she wasn't going to let him go without an explanation or else she would have went on her way already. Virion briefly considered the possibility of becoming a douche and simply walking away, but he had the feeling that if he so much as turned his back to this minish, he would receive more than a simple cuff over his head for his rudeness. He couldn't exactly put his finger on it, but there was something about this female that was off to him. Perhaps it was due to his years of isolation and wandering alone that he wasn't exactly the best judge of character~ Except his race. Now, that bunch he could read like a book.
Show it? Show it to her? Heaven forbid! The demon resisted the urge to groan out loud. When he judged that she wanted a serious explanation, he had been correct. An arched brow rose in slight disbelief, and he couldn't help but allow himself a wry smile. "Significant or not, it is not worth your time."
[/b] he replied honestly, knowing full well that he did eventually have to show it or she would probably pester him to no end, but one could always try right? Yet, Virion felt as though his efforts to conceal it would continuously end in vain; he felt as though he would have better progress with a brick wall instead, at least walls weren't this inquisitive. "Read it aloud?" He blinked in bemusement. "I was indeed, but however, if you wish it so..."[/color] Trailing off and thinking, both ebony eyebrows rose up when he came to a conclusion at why she would ask such an odd request. "You are illiterate."[/color] he murmured neutrally, nodding. "Okay."[/color] His attempt for her to forget about the offending note by offering her free food instead looked as though it would have worked had the girl not caught herself in time. Virion took a brief moment to be amused by the expression that crossed her face, and he snorted lightly. "Odd, to think that it nearly worked."[/color] he commented, amusement dripping from his words. "Very well then, mi- young lady, if you say so. What may I call you then?"[/color] "Walk with me." The demon strode forward, humming tunelessly and glancing around, searching for a stall. "To answer your previous inquiry," he began after he was sure that the girl had caught up. "The content I was reading was showing me details on how to avoid being...detected.[/color] The last word, though it sounded neutral, held a hint of skepticism in it. Virion glanced down at the minish and tilted his head slightly, stopping at a stall and bought a piece of fried fish before offering it to the teenager. "I hope that had satisfied your curiosity."[/color] [/blockquote][/size][/blockquote]

[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] In the back of her mind, Nikiya felt the crucial need to pay attention to this man's every action and expression, if only to get a bit of a hint of how hot or cold she was to learning the truth. "Not worth my time!" She scoffed, a casual eyeroll directed his way. "I have more than enough time to spare." This much she knew was true. She had an incredibly minuscule list of things she needed to accomplish, and most of it was just necessities for surviving; things easily acquired, at least for one of her long-experienced caliber.
The male continued, and as if in mimicry, the wolfos also lifted a brow as he ceased mid-sentence, until the revelation came to him. Well, she supposed she gave it away pretty easily. Arms crossed, she snapped her gaze away in response, giving a disappointed click of her tongue. "Tch." Fortunately for him that he had not taken a mocking tone, although his strangely accepting one that was used in its place was discomforting. Guess that showed how used she was to being looked down upon.
She would have retorted to his made point that she wasn't entirely illiterate, still dwelling on the matter, but before she had the chance, he had already moved on, to a lighter subject, which she decided to assume the flow. "Almost, but not quite. Points for effort, though." Movement caught her attention, as he began to move, ordering her around as he began to hum briefly. Well, he seemed awfully carefree for someone who was being partially extorted.
She followed anyways, curiosity naturally getting the best of her.
"Niki. Nikiya. Whichever makes you feel better," She called in suit, blinking nonchalantly, until the scent of more fish wafted into the air, and she realized where they were heading. Haaauh~ Glad that her mind could not be read at present, the Ainur held back a wag of her tail as she graciously accepted the fishy offering with a satisfied nod, after having tantalizingly watched the humanitarian exchange of "money" for "food." She always thought it was so much simpler just taking it, but she was not one to comment on the way the world worked.
Now that she had reacquired a meal, which she now proceeded to take a rather ravenous bite out of the fish's side, gulping it down with easy haste, before waving the rest in the man's general direction, as if to lecture. "Obviously not!" He should have seen that his vague response would only cause more questions to rise within the teen. "What were you hiding from? You weren't doing a very good job, if you ask me."

Oh sure, the girl had plenty of time to spare, Virion silently noted wryly, rolling his eyes in reply. Virion had always thought that girls her age would be more interested in chasing boys rather than pestering him for details about him until her curiosity was satisfied. Though Virion really had nothing against the latter teenagers and their rabid curiosities, bah, he found her eccentric, quirky attitude rather refreshing and interesting from the enthusiastic, hyperactive ones that he was normally used to. Variety was indeed the spice of life, and he couldn't imagine life without it. Though variety was a wonderful thing all around him, he still couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by it sometimes.
At least the minish wasn't giving him a headache yet~
"Perhaps next time."
[/color] he mused out loud at his failed attempt and her reply, though he doubted whether he would actually see her again after this. He was never really one to keep up with friendships, friends came and went after all, and he often forgot them as he traveled, surely this minish couldn't be any different, no? "Very well, Nikiya it is then."[/color] Virion nodded, not really the type for nicknames either. "I am called Virion."[/color] he added for her convenience, perhaps this would spare her from calling him 'mister' or something in the future. As Nikiya had mentioned that she wasn't adept at formalities, he was sure that whichever way, she would still be able to come up with a name for him. He watched her eat curiously, tilting his head to one side, naturally observing things as always. "Obviously not!" she squawked. He sighed then, lightly slapping a palm to his forehead and closing his eyes. "Your curiosity will be the death of me."[/color] The demon chuckled, shaking his head. "Detection...being taken notice of. Everyone in general."[/color] His mouth twitched at how impossible the feat had been, given his appearance. Perhaps a scarf or a mask would have done the trick, yet the thought of it made him feel completely idiotic. "It's not possible, I know. Nevertheless, I still decided to try a leap of faith, if that makes any sense~"[/color] [/blockquote][/size][/blockquote]

[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=style, text-align: justify;] Virion, okay. Nikiya nodded silently to herself, burning the name and face into her memory as she took another hearty bite from her fish, still feeling a bit of sad remorse for the one left to the ground. At least it would be passed down to some lesser creature roaming around like her, who had better be grateful for her careless blunder. Never again would she loosen her grip on a meal, even if it meant getting skewered in the eye. Was it odd that a beast such as herself was fond of fish? Naturally, she preferred meat, and fish was close enough, with its own personal flair.
Extremities aside, she heard a challenge in the man's next words. Maybe he had not intended them to be, but knowing the wolfos, she saw a challenge in everything. The chance of ever meeting Virion again after they parted were painstakingly slim, but she had her ways of tracking people down. Perhaps, perhaps.
Proceeding to flick an ear softly, she listened again, a moderately triumphant smirk gracing her lips at the fact that she was beginning to wear her opponent down. Maybe it was not a fact to be proud of, but apparently she was, nevertheless. It meant she was winning, after all, and while she didn't mind a loss, she certainly was quite fond of victory.
"Detection, hmm. From everyone?" She repeated with a slow nod, mostly to herself to clarify the situation. It made sense enough to her, only because she, too, was hiding many things, but she was unable to wrap her finger around the idea that a piece of paper would help him do so. If anything, it made him stand out more. So, without further ado, of course she had to inquire the meaning behind this.
"So, Viroro..." She trailed away briefly in thought, putting the words together in her mind (and possibly letting the nickname linger). "You picked up a random piece of paper off of the ground and started reading it so that it would teach you how to vanish." The minish-guised monster tapped her chin with her free hand in thought. "Sounds pretty fishy to me." No pun intended.
All the while, Nikiya was making an attempt to discern the reason behind this. Why would he have a need to hide? Either he was some sort of criminal, or a soldier incognito, or... a monster, like herself, trying to conceal themself within society. All were fairly plausible to her.
