He was lost. Hopelessly, irrevocably lost. Finch was starting to regret not going back for a map or directions. All he could say for certain was that he was in the woods. The woods of Faron Province, if he recalled, or maybe even Ordona. Heck, for all he knew he could have left Hyrule and wandered straight into the realm of the gods. Without even a vague idea where he was, all he could do was make wild guesses. And the further he wandered, the wilder the guesses were becoming. Perhaps that meant Finch was panicking.
When he finally forced himself to sit down and take a breath, he realized how accurate that prediction was. His hands were shaking. The thought of being lost, alone, in woods known for its populations of monsters, was murder on the young ascetic's nerves. Especially since he had all the survival skills of a mediocre farmer and nothing but a book to keep him safe.
Looking down at the leather bound folio in his arm, he decided to open it. Maybe a few of the teachings of the Divine Goddesses would be enough to fight off the rising tide of uncertainty. He opened to a section talking about, coincidentally, the Goddess of Courage, Farore. Inside, he busied himself with a story of brave warriors, who used the blessing of this particular deity to spur themselves on to incredible things, facing insurmountable challenges and coming out victorious. Compared to some of the Herculean feats described in his book, Finch thought, a simple walk in the woods was not so harrowing. He looked up...
...and then realized that he was still lost. Finch sighed. So much for that. He resumed reading. It was not going to make him any braver, it seemed, but it was a nice distraction from his predicament.
