Nemo
No One in Particular
RACE,Hylian
GENDER,Male, although gender doesn't mean much to him.
BATTLE ROLE,While he considers himself a technical pacifist, he will join in battle if necessary.
I... am not sure what role could he have in combat, except that his specialty is sneaking and deceit, and he prefers sneak attacks over rushing for the enemy head-on. Truth be told, he is more like a magical thief or something.
SEXUALITY,He swings wherever; gender doesn't seem to mean much to him.
AGE,Twenty-five, although he looks a tad younger.
ALLIANCE,Chaotic Neutral; he goes wherever it's the most entertaining and rewarding.
PERSONALITY,
Donning a smiling, squinting facade as his default expression, Nemo is a cheerful, amiable, and playful Hylian with a mischievous streak. Always on the lookout for adventure, rupees, and, most of all, any artefact with even a hint of magical power, his cunning and determination can prove him to be either an asset or a burden to any party, as Nemo will, more often than not, try to do things his own way.
While he doesn’t always have an agenda of his own, Nemo is secretive, cunning, and he has a way with words to make himself into either a negotiator or a viper, whispering lies and subverting words with a sharp tongue. While he is not the brightest crayon in the box, he is cunning enough to be a tricky fellow to deal with, especially when his greed and impatience gets in the way of teamwork. His determination to follow through with his plans often masks an obsessive behaviour centered on always getting more.
While it may not always be the case, the odds that Nemo would join a party only because the group has something he wants is an entirely plausible possibility, and loyalty sadly isn’t part of his list of qualities.
All in all, Nemo is a grinning, two-faced bastard that isn’t above deception to get what he wants.
However, while he will not deny the fact that it was his own fault that his former band bit the dust, he will refuse to discuss the matter , evading questions with an uncharacteristically snappy remark.

APPEARANCE,With his oh-so-imposing size of five feet and two inches, Nemo is a lithe andrathersmall and agile Hylian with a fair complexion, somewhat long ears and a dainty, button-like nose. His sandy blonde hair is usually combed to the side, and his hazel eyes usually hidden behind a tight squint. His smile is large, impish, and hard to wipe off his face, to a point where it might be disquieting. In fact, his grin feels a bit forced, sometimes.
Nemo has a penchant towards colourful clothes and accessories, and his ears are pierced.
WEAPONS,
An all-purpose knife.
ITEMS,
- Flute—a wooden, delicately ornate transverse flute that Nemo uses for his songs...and can use it for a spell or two.
- Poe Mask: It is a creepy wooden old thing, with four black feathers and painted in a way that suggests that the mask encompasses a black hole that could suck anyone in it... The mask has a very disquieting vibe to it—it’s probably cursed by Goddess-knows-who—and yet Nemo is still fascinated by the thing, despite the rather malevolent aura that clings to it.

ABILITIES,
- ABILITY SLOT 1: SONG
Elegy of Emptyness: Whenever Nemo plays the Elegy of Emptiness, a stone replica of himself is left. It can be used to either press buttons on the floor, a ‘human shield’ or a decoy. It is an otherwise somewhat useless spell—especially in the midst of a battle--unless he wants to give someone a cheap scare, as the statue’s expression is unnervingly neutral.
In order for the spell to work Nemo must focus, stand still, and the replica will be placed in front of where he is standing, and he can only make one replica at a time.
Time of use (in posts) : Equivalent to magic level.
At level 1, Nemo can keep a replica of himself for 1 post.
The cooldown is always 4 posts.- ABILITY SLOT 2 : MASK
Poe Mask: The Poe Mask is a cursed artefact that allows its wearer to emulate a Poe’s invisibility, at the risk of having their lives depleted until they become one of the ghosts.
The mask’s spell, when in effect, will allow the wearer to ‘cloak’; while his presence can be easily detected and he can be heard, he will appear to be nothing more than a shadow on the ground. However, the mask warps his perception of reality for the worse, making it hard to fight while wearing it, as everything feels darker, twisted, disquieting... and, no matter how effective he might be at spells, he can’t remain hidden for more than a certain amount of posts, lest the mask begins to cling to his face and eat at his mind. Touching others while wearing the mask breaks the illusion as well, as his contours gain opacity.
The cursed mask is not a portal to the twilight realm, but rather warps the wearer’s perception of reality—depending on the wearer, his surroundings might appear darker or even feel as if the ground is constantly crumbling under his feet –as well as draining their energy.
Enemies tend to appear even more terrifying while under the mask’s influence, as the mask almost literally feeds on fear and life force.
All in all, it’s a somewhat troublesome spell that attempts to emulate a Poe’s invisibility skill poorly, with major setbacks. He can also try forcing others to wear them, for either granting them the opportunity to be somewhat invisible, or to try forcing it on another until their energy is drained.
The mask's effects are directly proportional to the wearer's magic levels.
Level 1 - The Wearer can turn invisible for one post. Draining begins as soon as the mask is worn, at a rate of a third of the wearer’s remaining life energy per post, and a six post cooldown is needed. Visual distortion of the surroundings are pronounced, and downright terrifying.
Level 2 - The Wearer can turn invisible for two posts. Draining begins at the end of the first post, at a rate of a third of the wearer’s remaining life energy per post, and a six post cooldown is needed. Visual distortion of the surroundings is pronounced, but to a lesser extent, but is still enough to make one dizzy.
Level 3 - The Wearer can turn invisible for two posts. Draining begins at the end of the first post,at a rate of a fourth of the wearer’s remaining life energy per post, and a five post cooldown is needed. Visual distortion of the surroundings is average, and a general feeling of uneasiness is felt.
Level 4 - The Wearer can turn invisible for three posts. Draining begins at the end of the second post,at a rate of a fourth of the wearer’s remaining life energy per post, and a five post cooldown is needed. Visual distortion is slight, but the uneasy feeling when wearing the mask never subsides, although it is quite bearable.

HISTORY,
”There once was a small band of thieves,
Who would try to snatch all the rupees.
But in their quest for the goods
Lost it all in the woods
And would be consumed by their grieves.”
Native to the Faron province, Nemo always had led a rather simplistic life. He had been brought up by his aunt, a poor old thing that didn’t know what to do about her nephew, who had been left on her doorstep while her sister left for lumber and never returned; Nemo was one of those children that, no matter how well one tried to raise them, they would always cause trouble. And trouble he did cause, ranging from making masks to scare the other children with to stealing rupees and throwing Deku seeds at their neighbours’ chickens, and he would climb to treetops as soon as his troubles came to bite him back, after which he would sit on branches and play his flute to taunt the neighbours.
And yet, the old woman did her best into raising selfish little Nemo, trying to make sense of the trouble he was so hell-bent on causing. Did he want attention? Was it his own way of punishing others for mocking his smaller frame and squint? Or was it simply his own brand of fun? Whenever she would ask, he would shrug and smile, promising not to cause her any more trouble...until the following week, when the neighbours would catch him juggling with their hen’s eggs, much to their fright.
Either way, time passed, and eventually Nemo’s aunt passed away, and he decided to move out of the small village with no name that had seen him grow. No, he hadn’t been kicked out, why would anyone think that?
He never really settled down, only settling at a place for less than a week, before leaving for wherever his feet would take him, playing the flute to entertain whoever could spare him a rupee or two. He would pick the rest of his saving from merchants’ pockets.
Truth was, he was getting to really enjoy the thrill of having more, always more; and in time, he would find himself in a small band of thieves that enjoyed the thrill of getting more rupees as much as he did, and while he and a few of his newfound comrades would pretend to be bards, the others would pick their viewers’ pockets, before making a run for it.
It was fun, yes, but Nemo wanted more. Always a bit more of this, more of that, and after a while he was left a smidge frustrated.
Then he remembered a time when his aunt cared for him. Or rather, he remembered the stories his aunt would tell him as a child, from a time before he would play tricks and win his home village’s ire, about sacred temples in the woods and creatures that guarded them. The poor woman had told him the stories as a warning, never to go into the forest at night, but Nemo saw an opportunity to get rich, and quick.
Nemo would convince the band’s leader to go for the treasure in Faron woods, stating that there could be some magical artefact out there that would be worth a fortune.
The expedition, however, would be a complete disaster.
The band of thieves did find a chest after having spent hours aimlessly wandering in the woods, to Nemo’s excitement; it was a mask, plain wood with a big black blotch painted in the middle, making it look like it was a hole in the middle of the face, sucking all light and warmth from the vicinity, black feathers adorning its top, its disquieting and even malevolent aura titillating the Hylian.
His companions, however, were not pleased. They began quarrelling--how could that sneaky imp bring them to the middle of nowhere for a stupid mask, they said—and just as the biggest and strongest of the bandits grabbed the Hylian by the scruff of his neck for a good shake...
All hell broke loose. The sun had gone down, and it was the cue a flock of hungry monsters were waiting for to assail the thieves.
It was also Nemo’s cue to make a run for it.
And he ran, donning the mask, whimpering as the woods around him darkened, twisted and turned and that he left the closest thing to a group of friends behind, trying to get out of the woods before the monsters—or the mask—got to him.
He still isn’t quite sure how he survived, but when he came to the following week in a woodcutter’s hutt at the edge of the woods, he was told he had been found lying at the bottom of a ditch, almost exhausted to death, clutching a wooden mask.
He moved on again—refraining from robbing the old woodcutter blind, for once, never hearing from his band again.
Oddly enough, he hasn’t stopped grinning ever since, but he might be faking it.
EXTRAS,
Nemo is a very light sleeper, to the point of being qualified as ‘jumpy’, ever since he came back from his trip in the Faron woods.
