Plop.
Green orbs watched as the reel flew into the water, the bait dangling from the hook at the end of the reel. The bait disappeared beneath the surface of the ocean, to dangle there endlessly until an unfortunate fish decided to be naive and have a snack. Virion allowed the rod to fall limp in his hand and closed his eyes in content, breathing in the salty tang of the air, only to open them and gaze towards the horizon. It was indeed a nice day, perfect for a picnic or simply a day of leisure. And what better way to spend it by sitting on a dock at the very end of Hyrule and fish? He wasn't exactly a big fan of fishing, but the patient waiting that came with it that allowed him to mull around in his thoughts in content was worth it. Virion yawned loudly, the sound echoing around the empty area eerily, save from the squawking sound of the seagulls flying towards the ocean. He glanced around then, and after making sure that he was indeed alone, his body began taking on a green glow. He closed his eyes as the change took place, and within moments, he was stretching the demonic wings on his back, stiff and tired after the long flight from Hyrule to the Edge. His long tail swishing restlessly along the dock, the demon leaned back, feeling more relaxed than he had been in a long time, the end of the rod now gripped awkwardly in a claw.
Until a squawking pelican flew directly over his head and startled, he fell forwards and into the water.

Investigate, execute, report. Rinse and repeat. There was nothing more lovely than an early morning hunt that led her all the way to the edge of the world -- she vaguely wondered where the ships went when they slipped off the edge, but brushed aside the thought. It was no time for daydreaming; Vanessa had been tracking a monster for a good three days, staying just out of sight so that her own mana does not collide with his.
She was told of this frightful creature who ate the hearts of villagers and hung their intestines out to dry, but this...this...thing seemed to shy from people. Perhaps he' was the wrong target. It would certainly tragic to have killed something else and have the true demon still flapping its jaws about the land. But she was never wrong. Someone was false; either the demon was not yet hungry or the guard had gravely wrong information, so she had no choice but to follow him. What a waste of time.
She had toyed with the thought of killing him -- after all, one less monster, one less future problem. But to dip her fingers into the poison of injustice would cost her too much -- more than a crack in her morals, if they were even her own to begin with. A chance, that would be her gift to him. Now at the edge of Hyrule, procrastination seemed to have abandoned her; confrontation was in order -- Was he fishing? What an odd sight. She almost let out a chuckle of amused annoyance. Truly! A demon with the patience to fish and who chooses to fish. Some slapping of idiots was in order when she returned to the barracks. A change in mana. She stiffened, a hand automatically caressing the hilt of Claymore -- just watch; haste was the more hateful enemy. He certainly looked the part of a blood thirsty demon -- Splash.Oh...he fell. She raised an exasperated palm to grip her face with a slap; the wings must have been too much for him. Maybe if he drowned himself or fell of the edge, there would be less trouble for her, but the gnashing teeth of justice gripped her heels and dragged her forward with the utmost speed. Now was a better time than ever. Claymore into earth for support, A vambranced arm into water -- the current was no match -- fingers grasping something, hair perhaps or a furry arm, anything to pull out of the water. And something brushed her hand, indeed; it seemed that she had more luck fishing. Pull. Well, what do you know. Sitting back on her haunches, unimposing and without weapon in hand, she smiled down, a pretty little thing with a habitual head-tilt. "Good afternoon," a light chuckle that struck against the situation like grating steel against stone, "I've been sent to kill you."[/blockquote][/blockquote] tags: virion word count: 479 notes: ooc: hehe, I hope you don't mind that I dragged him out of the water...>w> wanted to speed that up a little. Defeated by a pelican of all things...
Before he could do so much as kick himself up from the water or even brood on the fact that he had fallen into the water because of a bird, something grabbed his arm and was soon attempting to fish him out. He didn't even have the time to look around and maybe spot some aquatic creature that tickled his fancy before his head broke the surface. Eyes wide, he kept his tongue tied as the person- a female- dragged him up the dock. The demon laid on all fours on the ground, staring up at her, dripping wet while his claws dug into the wood of the dug, prepared to launch himself up to the sky with his wings should the need arose. He watched her warily while she smiled sinisterly, suddenly reminded of a certain dragon he met in the Minish Forest. Women and their mysteries...he would never understand their species. She was quite attractive as well, and the blade in her hand only seeming to intensify her beauty.
"Good afternoon. I've been sent to kill you."
Well now, what had he gotten himself into hmm?
People and their death threats! Getting to his feet, talons clawing into the dock for support, a soaking midnight claw rose up to slap his forehead in exasperation and bring it down along his face. "Honestly now..."
Virion trailed off in exasperation, his tranquil mood already disappearing. He racked his mind for memories; the last time he killed had been yesterday, and it had been an unfortunate deer that had become his dinner. Humans or whichever species often came looking for him all because he was a demon, or for vengeance against a crime he had committed a long time ago while he was still among his kin. He surveyed the female up and down, wondering why such an attractive warrior was sent to kill him, him of all people. Taking a step back so it wouldn't hit the girl, he shook like how a dog would to remove water from their bodies, clearly taking his time answering, Virion briefly considered reverting to his humanoid form, but he felt that now that the warrior had seen his true form, he would be simply wasting his time. The demon folded his arms across his chest then, staring unblinkingly and cautiously at the blonde while his tail swished slowly to and fro in resignation. "May I at least know the reason why my demise is required, warrior?" he finally asked. "Did I offend you sometime in the past?" [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Vanessa shifted upright, brushing flecks of ocean from her vambraces as her lips quirked upwards even more. She watched as the furry demon shook himself like an animal, and it amused her somewhat -- it reminded her of a lost puppy or moreso, a stray puppy wondering what it did to deserve its current fate.
"May I at least know the reason why my demise is required, warrior? Did I offend you sometime in the past?"
A reasonable and fair question, after all if someone were out for her head upon a stick, she’d wonder the very same thing. “Oh no, not me. At least, I would hope not.” She replaced Claymore within its holster without much of a second thought touching her mind; were he to attack, he would have done so already, and she would decide whether or not to kill him later. “A certain demon described with a bone helmet with your appearance was seen eating the hearts of villagers and lining their intestines out to dry -- a snack for later perhaps?”
It sounded incredulous even to her ears, but a report was a report and must be dealt with whether or not she believed it. Again, what a waste of time. Vanessa shifted her weight, bringing a hand to chin in contemplation; there still was a chance that this demon was a predator of the upright folk -- what to do? Killing him wasn’t an option yet, the jaws of justice would certainly not allow it. But taking his word if he were to deny villainy would be most foolish as well. “Have you anything to say?” A sharp glint entered her eyes, “There is no right or wrong answer.”

Who would want to offend her of all people? Virion's brow twitched at the thought of this warrior flying into a temper; the blade that she currently wielded looked as though one single hit from it could send him flying into lala land, a place that he wasn't exactly very inclined to visit. He continued listening in incredulous silence as she continued, his brow occasionally twitching in disbelief. "Now, that is a new one."
he commented dryly at the thought of lining out strands of intestines for the whole world to see. He raised an eyebrow at the thought of the organ as a snack and dismissed the thought immediately, shaking his head. "No." "You have the wrong demon." Virion continued simply. "I suggest you get your facts right before pointing a finger at me, because bone accessories on the Ainur seem to be a trend nowadays." He blinked. "And besides, there are better ways to kill without drawing explicit attention to yourself...if you get what I mean..." He trailed off, wondering whether the warrior would believe him in his attempts trying to prove his innocence. He did not think that he would be able to survive in battle with her, and as he valued his life more than his pride, the only option was to bolt should she unsheathe her sword again. The demon was in no mood to fight this woman or have his life on the line at the moment; it was no wonder why he was often looked down openly by most. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

It was an answer she already knew, which was too bad really since it was protocol to track this creature. And, she was never wrong with the plethora of papers and files within the guard census. But this demon was interesting, and if she went out of her own way for the sake of procedure, Vanessa might as well make the most of it whether she gets information or food for thought. “Oh, my mistake.” She let out a chuckle of faux embarrassment, “Then I suppose you aren’t Virion?” There was hardly a point in lying about his name now.
But, she decided he wasn’t really worth killing, though he was interesting. A demon who rather run than fight, she didn’t need sight to tell her what was obvious -- the way his muscles tensed as if he could bolt at any second. “That, I already knew. You’ll have to forgive me for the suspense, but do tell me, Virion. What did you do to incur such slander? More importantly, to whom did you do it to?” It was a most curious thing, perhaps and old grudge, but more than it being a topic of intrigue, she needed to find the one who posted such flapping nonsense to her honorable platoon. That one would be fined and punished accordingly.
Procedure. Though, she realized it was a double-edged question: if he were to admit to committing some crime in the past, then she would have to apprehend him unless convinced otherwise. She smiled pityingly at him with no ill feelings, but perhaps a tad of guilt. “Again, there is no right or wrong answer.”
