The sun had gone down, and the openness of day had become the cover of night, which is just what a hunter like Val was waiting for. Throughout the afternoon, he'd been stalking in the forest, following a duo that he had recently picked up a contract to eliminate. Usually, Val wasn't all for mindless killing, but there was gold behind it, and he needed to pay someone off for information about Lilah's whereabouts. The source seemed good, and the task, easy.
Val had stuck to the treetops, quietly moving between branches of closely-knit trees like an agile feline, his catlike movements thus far going entirely undetected. His face was expressionless, but his eyes were deep and intense. He was focused on his goal, and almost nothing could distract him from it.
Almost nothing. The man he was hired to kill was with someone, and Val had been told that such an occasion might be the case. He had also been told not to harbor emotion, or it would have been harder to carry out his task. Val now understood why: The duo was a father and his daughter, spending the day together in the forest looking at trees. Now that evening had brought its blanket over the land, they were headed home.
Not knowing exactly what such a duo could have done to have a contract out on them, Val attempted to focus on the idea that maybe they were attempting to look innocent in case people just like Val were hidden in the treetops watching, waiting, for a chance to strike. He tried his best to block out thoughts of killing a small child and her father from his mind as he drew his bow quietly from his back.
The young man notched an arrow, tilted the bow, $and pulled back. The string made a quiet creaking sound as it stretched to accommodate the bright, silver-tipped arrow. Val pondered which one to take out first as his mind drifted away from the scene of a loving father and his adored daughter.
When his chance came, Val missed it. The breath he was holding was let free, and he released the pressure on his bow string as the girl merrily danced and laughed her way out of the forest. He placed the arrow back in its quiver, and the bow on his back. A tear began to creep to Val's eye, but he pushed it back, determined not to be emotional about the money he'd just let walk out of the forest.
The man was immoral, but Val was far from heartless.
When he was sure the couple had gone out of the forest and back home, Val jumped down from the treetop and landed with an almost silent thud. He was used to sneaking around, and often made as little noise as possible, even subconsciously. Sighing heavily, he seated himself against the trunk of the tree, shut his eyes, and thought heavily about what he could say to his contact...

Sneak sneak.
Frolicking through the forest was a specialty to one who originally inhabited such a turf. Like a stealthy kitty ninja that she was, Seyka bounced upon the tree tops, playing tirelessly on top of the foliage in total merriment. She had no idea what kinds of dark deeds happen when the sun goes down. All she thought was it invoked the creatures of the night to come out, and play. It was a little rougher to keep up with such rowdy beasts that prey on the weak, and those who didn't see well at night.
... but she was a mighty lioness of the jungle. She would not bow down to such predators of the night! Ok, she wasn't that intimidating a sight, but she was still a tree lion minish. What with her fluffy kitty cat ears, and white tip kitty tail playing swiftly like the wind following behind her as she leaped like a monkey from tree branch to tree branch. It still counts that she was more than capable of fairing her way around these parts. In fact, she was confident (or ignorant was a better word for it) in her skills that she considered Faron Woods her playground of sorts.
Sneak sneak.
No one would stop her when she had her sights set to the distance. She was going to make it across the forest in record time. For what reason might you say? Well... because she can! That's why. Yeah, she didn't have a goal set in mind but there was nothing wrong with good sport traveling through the forest, right? At least, that's what the kitty cat girl thought, and that's exactly what she was going to go with.
Sneak sneak - SNAP!
"Uh-oh! KYAAAAAAAAAH!" she screamed. The branch underneath her feet was frail, and collapsed underneath her plummeting the once ninja kitty minish down to the ground. When she expected a hard forest floor to fall on, what she was greeted with instead was a shock absorber of sorts.
Dizzily, she mewed pathetically feeling a lump about to form on her head. What did she crash into? When her vision cleared up, she took a look all around that surrounded the cat girl. She saw no one in sight. "That's strange," she blinked. "I could have sworn I crashed into something... someone~"
Little did she know she was on top of Valence~

Val's ears perked up, and the young man listened intently for some time, but after a few minutes of nothing else happening to grace his ears, he began to drift off. He was tired from both stress and activity, and more than anything, needed a good sleep. Fortunately for him, the archer could sleep almost anywhere, and on this night, it seemed his bed-to-bed was naught more than the tree trunk he leaned against.
Yawning quietly, he tilted his head back against the bark and let his mind wander. He had no idea where he'd go in the morning, or what he'd say to his contact when he had to report that not only one, but both, of his targets had escaped-- perhaps, Val suddenly thought, it would be best to leave out the fact that he simply let them go, if Val were to tell his contact at all. Oh well... he thought he'd worry about it in the morning....
Val's eyes shot open. He let out a quiet grimacing sound, startled by the thing that landed atop his head. Opening his eyes slowly, Val looked around, then up, and realized what had just happened. The thing spoke, and Val responded with a slight chuckle, before he continued in his charismatic, manipulative, soft tone. "Well well, I thought I heard something prowling around in the night." He commented, ironic concerning his own habits of sneaking around.
"That would be me." Val added quickly. Without missing a beat, he explained. "Name's Micah. What brings a... Minish?-- out to the forest at such a late and dangerous hour, mm?"

Could she have been mistaken? She began scratching the back of her dark furry feline ears uncertain of what to make of her luck. Perhaps it was her imagination playing tricks on her~ Maybe the ground was much softer than she imagined the impact would do on her. It still sucked to fall out of the tree, but she knew from prior experiences that even the plushy grass wasn't enough to absorb all of the shock of the ground. Then a voice sprang up out of nowhere, causing the kitty to perk up her ears, alerted that it was coming from beneath her.
If one could describe her face, it would be something along the lines like this: O.o;
"Oh my! I'm so sorry," she meowed spastically. She scambled up like a klutz and made room not to invade the man's personal bubble. Oh, why did she have to make a fool out of herself right now of all times? At least nothing or nobody was harmed, right? Well, there was no point getting all bent out of shape over the silly things. "Are you ok? I hope I didn't hurt you," she asked frantically. The little spazzball wasn't going to calm down anytime soon. "I really am sorry!"
Then he started introducing himself. She quirked up a little realizing that he appeared quite affable even after that little stunt she pulled. She flashed that ever so bubbly smile of hers, and swished her tail back, and forth slowly. "My name's Seyka. A pleasure to meet you, Micah." She bowed her head slowly. She folded her hands together listening to him asking her lightheartedly what she was up to in the middle of the night. "If you must know, I'm hunting slash training my stealth skills. After all, what is a lion that cannot hunt, right?"
And then her curiousity hit her. Tilting her head slightly to the side with that natural feline trait of hers. She was interested in what brought a single male out within Faron. She was positive hunters do so frequent these parts, but most do sport in daylight. "And you~?" she asked with an innocent curiousity coloring her tone.

Val chuckled, amused. The girl seemed a bit out of sorts with her fall, which was understandable, and Val nodded understandingly as she spoke so quickly. He flashed her a mild smile of bright white teeth. "Ah, I'm fine. Don't worry." He offered amiably. As she introduced herself, he studied her demeanor. She, unlike himself, was not lying. She was sincere in manner and speech, and seemed to be a genuinely kind-hearted... thing.
"Pleasure's all mine." Val added automatically, lightly bowing his head to her. As she explained her reason for being in the forest, Val couldn't help but let out an honestly meaningful laugh. Seyka was, at least, comical in nature. "Indeed." The young hunter responded, a slight upwards inflection indicative of both curiosity and amusement. "The best are the best that practice and hone their skills, after all."
Val's mental process seemed to go by slowly and thoughtfully, but his answers were almost always without hesitation, without missing a beat of the conversation, so as to prevent himself from giving himself away entirely. And so, as Seyka asked of his warrant for being out in the forest so late, he responded automatically as before: "The night is young, you see. I am a man of nature, and I find myself most at home in a forest such as this. Quite a serene atmosphere, hm?"
