Alleria was very amused by how Zared seemed to lack any idea on how to respond to her bad attempts at flirting. She held herself back from laughing, because it would be a little rude. Some people just never had the experience of being flirted openly with, and she knew that she was beginning to get drunk if she was flirting. Most males winded up with her fist against their jaw if they attempted to do so with her, especially in a tavern. Perhaps she was just bad at flirting? Alleria would not be surprised, and why was she over thinking this? It was the alcohol making her mind go to odd places, and she should just pay attention to talking instead of thinking at the moment. She smiled in apology at Zared, deciding to attempt and stop herself from being more forward than she usually was.
Amusement struck her as Zared offered to buy the next rounds quite out of the blue, and he seemed surprised that he had done so as well. Giggling to herself, Alleria sipped at her drink, content to watch everyone erupt into another cheerful roar. The pleasant haze was beginning to fog her mind a little more completely, and she was sure if she was standing, then she would have been swaying upon her feet. Had she really gotten Zared to buy more drinks without trying? Huh, maybe she was a better flirt than she previously thought, or tended to let his words get away from him. Alleria was more inclined to believe the latter, since his reaction to her earlier words had been lackluster at best. Yeah, bad flirting it was. Alleria took another sip to drown the incessant thoughts away before they came back again.
Cast a strange spell? A small giggle escaped her, and she shrugged with a small blush dusting her cheeks. Well, she certainly was not trying, but it was nice to know that maybe she could flirt without knowing it. Blue eyes stared into the amber liquid in her glass, unsure of how to answer his question. Well, it seemed she did not need to think, since her mouth was more than willing to do the talking for her. "I joined the academy with my friend back when I was ten, and last year he just vanished without a word. It wasn't the same without him, so I never reenlisted," she admitted with a somber smile. Of course, Alleria had heard about what he had been up to this past year. Not wanting to be the one to ruin the mood, she quickly brightened. Not to mention she had said a little more than she normally would have.
"How about you? What exciting duties does a nobleman guard have?"

Zared had never been a flirt. He was capable of flirting in the most innocence sense of the word, but he was more a seeker of good cheer. Men and women alike were buddies to him, friends he could find, and he rarely considered a girl to be outside that realm of companionship. So he rarely watched his words when he came across one of those few girls who struck his fancy, hence his earlier comments about idiots and morons. And here he was again, blundering through the conversation like a naive fool, barely able to keep his own damage controlled.
A copper coin bounced off of the rim of Zared's mug and, in a surprising show of good fortune for whoever threw it, landed with a plink in Alleria's. There was a moment of silence as everyone stared, not believing what they had just seen, and another roar washed across the table as congratulations were offered to Charles, who had originally thrown the piece. Zared blinked and looked down at his mug, then at Alleria. "I guess that means we both drink," he said as he raised the mug. "To a marvelous shot," he added in cheers before taking a long swig.
Go away, tongue, be civil and keep to yourself or I'll drown you out.
"I'm sorry to hear about your friend," Zared offered. He never really had a friend who would drive him into such a major decision. Most of his friendships lasted an evening or two with drinking buddies before it was back to his duties around the estate. The thought of running away never once occurred to him, either. "I'm sure it's for the better, anyway. Not your friend disappearing, that's horrible to hear, but you not remaining a soldier, that's for the better. Less chances of taking an arrow to the knee and retiring early."
He took another sip of his drink while she asked about his duties. He practically scoffed, except he was drinking so it came out more as a choke. "Duties, if they're called that. Until my uncle dies I'm just an apprentice, I don't even walk patrols. I'm supposed to be learning to run the guard for my brother, but my uncle still has at least a decade left in him so I'm living it up while I can. Life seems to get awfully dull after that," he commented flatly, considering his uncles dedication to his job and complete lack of a life outside of it.

Alleria watched as a coin struck the side of Zared's glass, startled out of their conversation as the coin bounced from the rim and landed within her own glass. A very lucky shot, and she stared at her glass with a quirked brow. That was a lucky shot, but everyone else at the table was quite enthused with the shot. Huffing a little, she glanced over to see that had been Charles that had made the shot. Alleria sent him a rather overly sickly, sweet smile that had him gulping for what he perceived she would have in store for him. Oh, she did not, but it was always fun to intimidate people a little. Her rash nature became more apparent when she drank, but what did she care? Everyone became stupid when they were drunk. "To an incredibly lucky shot," she added, and downed the rest of her own glass. It burned down her throat, and she resisted the urge to cough.
Blinking past the burning, Alleria turned toward Zared with a small smile in place. Yeah, she was quite sorry, too. Alex had always been a person that liked to travel, so she could not really blame him. Staying in one place was driving her a little nuts, too. Where did she have to go, though? Everywhere and nowhere it seemed like. He was the only friend she had ever made in her life, and Alleria was cautious to let anyone that close again. She had already said too much, but the drink made her tongue too loose. "Glad someone thinks so. I'm still looking to do something with myself," she admitted with a smile. No, she did not have to worry so much about her life ending, but the last year had grown into a monotony she did not enjoy in the least.
She was a little curious about what Zared did, since it was quite apparent he had no love for it. She could definitely empathize with him in that regard. Duty to family and tradition appeared to define his life for the long run, and she became nauseated at the thought of it. Or perhaps that was the intake of the ale? "Then why don't you do what you want?" she asked. Her cheeks flushed a little in embarrassment, hoping she had not crossed a line. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to pry. I just mean that maybe you can still do what's expected of you, but still get what you want, too," she offered quietly. No need for the others to overhear, but their laughter helped to occupy them. It reminded her of her own heritage in a way, and how her mother had left it all for her father and love. Duty did not have to be the only defining line in life.
"I just think you should be able to choose for yourself is all."

"Luck and pure talent are two separate things. Unfortunately poor Charles seems to have been blessed with an abundance of one and none of the other," Zared said dryly with a grin on his face, shooting Charles a mocking expression as Ordon and Blinky caught on to what he was saying and laughed at Charles' expense. It was the typical kind of banter you'd expect from a tavern, with everyone ragging on each other in a lighthearted fashion. You never walked into a tavern looking to take things personal, and if you did you were the wet blanket of the group.
He turned his attention back to Alleria. Despite bringing her over to join his table the two of them seemed off on their own all the same, having a surprisingly deep and personal conversation. Zared wasn't one to talk much about his own life, namely because he didn't want to come off as sounding whiny and piteous, so he was surprised she had him opening up this much. Maybe it was the ale, as she seemed surprised at her own words from time to time. Or maybe it was that spell she had cast over him somehow, that inexplicable magic she held.
"Well it's certainly a world of opportunity for a free spirit like yourself," Zared commented. He was bound by his family tradition and so forth, but from what he gathered Alleria was free from practically all ties. She could do whatever she wanted, whenver she wanted. And a pretty girl like her wouldn't be hard for money since she could just walk into a tavern and have her drinks paid for. "The world's a plaything to those blessed to have it all," he quote wryly, though he wasn't entirely sure where he hard read that.
Surprisingly the conversation found its way back to his own bindings. Zared just shrugged at her question. "I can't say the thought hasn't crossed my mind, but if I ran off and left my responsibilities I'd be abandoning my family. I can't do that. Especially since if I were incapable of performing my duties my little brother would take over for me and fall victim to the same trap. I couldn't wish that on him, even if it does mean sticking to it myself. So, while I'm young, I might as well live it up, right?" he raised his mug to his own comment and finished its contents off.

"You would be surprised how often the two go hand-in-hand," Alleria replied with a laugh. At least her words were more consoling for Charles' than Zared's. All in good fun, and no doubt they would all be too drunk to remember by the morning. She would be lucky to even get home without stumbling to sleep it off on her doorstep. She did not want a repeat of waking up and finding her shirt missing. That had been embarrassing in a room full of guys with a hangover, and she felt mortified just thinking about it. The days when boys were so immature and liked to steal mementos from drunk girls, but it had all been in good fun like this. Alleria had even managed not to kill anyone on her rampage for finding another shirt to cover herself with. She giggled to herself at the memory, but tucked it away for another time. It was more fun talking with Zared, anyway.
Alleria was unsure if she really considered herself a free spirit. Sure, her desert kin probably thought themselves as such, but that was what her mother had told her. She had defined the past decade of her life on her duty to her one friend, so perhaps she could empathize with what Zared was going through. Alleria did not have to go with Alex to the academy, but she had felt an obligation to follow him where ever he went, because he was her best friend. She would have done nearly anything to have his happiness and approval. "Maybe. But it hardly makes a difference when I don't know what I want. I've always followed after my friend, and now that he's done, I'm kinda stuck in limbo," she admitted. Alleria thought the quote a rather nice once, but she did not want anything extravagant for herself. Honestly, she wanted what her parents had. It did not matter to her father that he had a Gerudo wife and child, and she just wanted that acceptance from someone that did not care about stupid views about differing race.
It was good to see that Zared cared so much about his family, even if the duty being thrust on him drove him crazy. A somber smile crossed her lips, finding the sudden desire to help him in some way. It was definitely the alcohol, because this was not quite like her. Alleria cared about people, of course, but she tended to guard herself more closely. "That's admirable of you. It's good to know you care about your brother that much," she commented with a sweet smile. Family was very important, even if it sometimes meant letting go of your own happiness. "You can still find things you want even in duty, though. People that make you happy, and you can spend time with," she listed. Alleria had had fun in the academy with Alex, so it had not all been about duty and loyalty. Even one person could make a big difference in a person's life.

Zared could only grin as Alleria offered Charles some kind words to make up for his own jest. Of course Charles didn't find Zared's words offensive; if you found offense in that kind of thing you really shouldn't come to a tavern to drink with your friends. The more alcohol was involved the more rowdy the comments got. Which was probably why there were a lot of brawls in taverns. People crossing lines or people just too somber to accept that they were being made fun of in a lighthearted way. Basically the kinds of people Zared didn't like and avoid. The kinds of people who occasionally found him and left him with a bloody nose because of his tongue.
He heard Alleria out and shrugged. The more he drank the more sage-like he felt, but he wasn't all that confident in his words. "Limbo's not all that bad. Good drinking company, anyway," he said with a grin. "If everyone there's stuck trying to figure out what to do with themselves then everyone there then they all have some kind of story about why they're in that position anyway," he added, then took a moment to consider his own words and if they made sense. When he was confident they did, he nodded and moved on.
"As the third born son my brother can do virtually anything he wants. It's a freedom I long after, sure, but I wouldn't be able to strip it off of somebody for my own ends. I've been trained since my arm was strong enough to hold a sword for the role. He hasn't. He would be extremely pressured to learn years of duties, regulations and all that fun stuff if I just up and left. I just couldn't do that to him," Zared said, turning his eyes to the table and studying the wood grain for just a moment. "And that's what I sound like when I'm wallowing in self-pity," he finished with a grin.
HIs attention turned back to her. "So that's why I'm in limbo. You're there because you don't know what you want with yourself, so that would be a good place to start. Give it a thought, what is it you want in life?" he asked, though the true depth of the question escaped his inebriated mind. He was already . . . well he'd lost count of the mugs even before Alleria had come along and while he had a strong tolerance, even the mightiest found their limit somewhere and his was approaching fast.

There was such a light headed feeling to her now, and Alleria was quite sure that if she stood up, then she would fall over from the sheer effort. Her words had not begun to blur together, so she was happy with that. Nothing more embarrassing than losing all coordination and the very much needed use of speech. Her limit had been reached easily enough, and her thoughts kept slipping through her fingers and were easily replaced by new ones. Focusing on something for more than a few moments took concentration now, and Alleria really hoped they were done with the drinking games for the night. Anymore ale and she would be passed out on the table, and then someone would have to do something with her limp body. Preferably helping her home, or not leaving her here to be dumped outside. That would be very nice. Alleria giggled at the thought, unsure of why she was in the first place.
Wide blue eyes stared up at him, and his form took a moment to focus in on. Yes, the drinking company was very, very nice. Oh, wait, Zared was saying something, so she should probably stop herself from looking him over. Yeah, that would definitely be for the best. Blushing faintly, she smiled slightly in response to his words. Alleria had an idea of what she wanted, but those things took time and a great deal of chance, too. "I just don't want to be stuck there for too long. Good drinking company aside," she retorted with a dry smile. Alleria knew she had plenty of time, but she did not want to waste what time she did have. Ugh, nothing was making all that much sense to her at the moment.
Her brow furrowed for a moment, listening as Zared explained his own situation more clearly. It was not a fair situation to begin with, and she had to wonder if tradition was all that important. To her he hid all of his own worries and doubts behind an easy grin and sarcastic humor. Deflection she used for herself at times, but certainly not know. The ale had her spilling all of her own woes without a second thought. "Not at all. I think it's really admirable that you love your brother so much," she reassured gently. Alleria did not have any siblings, so it was nice to have some glimpse into what it may be like. Protective over someone else, and willing to do anything for them. Loyalty like that was hard to come by, even in families.
She bit her bottom lip for a moment, unsure if she should admit her wants and wishes. They were so simple, and there were so many other things she could aspire to. Alleria was more realistic, and did not want illusions of grandeur and perilous journeys. Sure, they would be fun and exciting, but then the story was over. "I want what my parents have. Love, happiness, and maybe children," she admitted quietly. Oh, Goddesses, why did she say that? "Silly, right? I could want anything, but I don't want to fight for the rest of my life--not really. I-I really should stop talking now," she trailed off with a nervous giggle. Looks like she was now the one rambling.

Zared was completely oblivious toward the direction of her eyes, even if she had not dodged away once his own attention turned back to her. Maybe he was too drunk, or just too naive. Either way, he only grinned at her not because he had caught her, but because of what she had said. "Nobody ever is, I don't think. It's limbo, you wait there until you find your purpose or you die. Wow, that was probably morbid of me to say, nevermind, pretend I hadn't said that," Zared said, his tongue having seen an opportunity and jumped for it.
"Just never drink to see your woes away. Drink for the company and the times that go with them, that's what I always say," he commented, trying to make up for what he had just said. Dying was never a fun topic, he'd best avoid it. "Who knows, maybe some day you'll have an alcohol-inspired epiphany and suddenly know what you want out of life. And then you'll have it forgotten by the next morning, but at least for the time being you'll be living high. I'm going to change the subject now," he murmured, deciding it was best he didn't try to give out cheerful advice.
"My brother and I, we've always gotten along. He's becoming quite the accomplished mage, actually. That was our common ground, we loved to read, we loved books. When we were younger we used to spend hours at a time in the library together and for the life of me I wouldn't be able to tell you how we passed so much time without going stark raving mad. I guess it doesn't really matter where you are or what you're doing, just who you're doing it with in the end," Zared reflected, his eyes sparkling with nostalgia for the good old days.
He snapped out of it as she shared her desires with him and he grinned deviously. "Actually carry on, I think you're rambling is cute," he teased. "Isn't that the kind of goal everyone should set? I mean high ambitions only lead to greater let down and more work. Yours is the Hyrulean dream, one I can certainly share in." He looked down at his empty mug and then up at his drinking company. After a moment he reached down and grabbed his coin purse, pulling out a handful of rupees and laying them down on the table. "That's it for me, guys, but as I said the next rounds are on me, enjoy," he said and turned back to Alleria. "I think we've both hit our limits. Shall I escort you back to your home before one of us blacks out?" he asked with a smirk.

Alleria laughed slightly at his word, even if they were morbid. They held a truth to them, and it was one she did not want to see happen to her. She was young, and she supposed she did have her entire life ahead of her. It just worried her at how quickly it could go, because the last thirteen years of her life had passed by in a blink. She could still remember her lackluster childhood, and perhaps she was glad to be where she was now. Sure, she was at a loss of where she should take her life, but she was a lot more comfortable with who she was than when she was a child. She had been so ready to solve all of her problems by breaking a boy's nose for making fun of her red hair. That was not always the case now. "No, it's true. I just hope I don't die too soon, then," she remarked with a smile.
Alleria looked at Zared with a quirked brow, and she really had to resist the urge to burst out laughing. His sense of humor was rather endearing, and she really did appreciate his attempt at giving her advice. Could it really be even called advice? Perhaps not, but it was the thought that counted. "I'll be lucky if I remember this night in the morning. I get drunk quite easily," she revealed with a grin. Three or four mugs of ale and she was still functional. Small miracles never did fail at amazing her. Giggling lightly, she reached over to pat his arm gently. "If it helps, I think that was the best advice I ever got while drunk," she teased with a grin. Alleria did not remember the other times she had been inebriated all that well, so it was a nice compliment!
Alleria really did enjoy hearing Zared speak of how close he was to his younger brother. A part of her was a little envious, but she had some shared experiences. Alex was certainly not like much of a good brother to look up to, but he had been her best friend. The two of them had always found some way to get in trouble, and she did miss those days at times. "Very true. I'm enjoying drinking myself into a stupor in your company," she replied with a sweet smile. Nothing like bonding over several rounds of drinks, and she really hoped that this would not be the last she saw of Zared. This had been the most fun she had had in quite awhile, and it was nice to be sociable with someone again. Alleria really could see herself becoming good friends with him without the added aid of alcohol to make them spill their guts.
A deeper blush bloomed across her flushed cheeks, pretending she had not heard his teasing words. Alleria did not need her words being turned against her, even if it was rather nice to hear. She was quite relieved that he had not teased her for acting like a typical little girl for wanting those things. It was very nice to know that he wanted the same for himself, too. A rather shy smile crossed her lips as she regarded him, but she shook her head after a moment. Alcohol impairment, right. "It's good to know I'm not the only one, then," she replied. Her mug was nearly empty, but she had no wish to finish it. Blue eyes glanced from the rupees he had left, and was a little surprised at the offer to escort her back home. How..well, sweet.
"If you don't mind me using your arm to prevent myself from falling face first, then sure."

No one ever said chivalry was dead, and that certainly didn't apply to Zared. He was a man of his word, offering to pay for the next two rounds, and he was a man of honor, to escort a lady home. Honestly he hadn't even considered any ulterior motive a guy might have in offering to bring a lady home. He just didn't want anything to happen to his new friend, and he was quite accustomed to take a beating. Without a sword there the most he would probably do was distract them while she ran away, but hey, that was something, right?
Not that Zared would turn his sword on them anyway. He was really too passive for the most part.
"If it helps, you're one of the finest drunks I've ever met," Zared teased, this time knowing what he was saying and keeping his tongue in check. It was dangerous territory, but they were both drunk enough to enjoy the horrible humor in the comment. He turned his attention to the rest of the table and offered his goodbyes and good nights and all the formalities before standing up and offering his arm to Alleria just as she requested. "I'd hardly be a gentleman if I stood by and let you fall, though I imagine it'd be funny to watch," he said with a grin.
"If it's not too forward I might need to know where you live so that I can lead you there. Unless you want to lead the way," he said, for lack of anything else to say. This was the first time Zared actually escorted a lady home, after all, and he wasn't entirely sure how he should go about doing this. So far he was just going off of old stories of gentleman knights and the lot, but they only went so far. "I'm new to this gentlemanly thing, as far as escorting a lady goes," he said aloud and immediately regretted it.
So he switched to another topic that he'd also end up regretting. "And my offer still stands for the morning, if you feel so inclined. We can write you a little note when we get to your place so you remember in the morning," he teased, though a cold feeling washed over him as he realized it was also probably a bit too forward. But he was drunk and his tongue didn't listen to his thoughts, regardless of how much it might help if it did. He just smiled and hoped there wouldn't be too much damage.

Alleria held back her laughter, unsure of whether to take that as an honest compliment or not. Who cared? She was drunk, and the fit of giggles that escaped her could not really be helped. "And you're the sweetest drunk I've ever met," she teased with a bright smile. She was a little hesitant to stand from her chair, because she hardly wanted the rest of the men at the table to see her fall face flat on the wooden floor. Alleria would never live it down, and would never be able to show her face here again with any dignity. Zared offered his arm to her, and she stuck her tongue out at him for his remark. "Oh, yes, very hilarious. I would burst into tears, and then you would have to deal with a woman crying, and no one wants that," she retorted dryly. Oh, yes, their horrible sense of humor was still going. Lovely.
Alleria slowly stood from her chair, and immediately it felt like all of her limbs were moving through water. Oh, wow, it was a little worse than she thought. She clung to Zared's arm to keep her balance, blinking away the blurriness that suddenly started. Sitting and standing made a very big difference she did not like. The room was tilting a little, and that was really not good. "Um, right, where I live," she repeated. Would it be a bad thing to mention she did not quite remember the directions at the moment? Giggling nervously, Alleria attempted to do a mental run through. Not too far from here. Right, right, left? Yes, that sounded right. Wait, it was left at the last turn, right? Okay, this may be a little bit of a problem.
She turned wide eyes onto him, and giggled nervously again. His offer for the morning? Oh, yes, she remembered. An offer to cure the inevitable, nasty hangover she would acquire when she woke up. She thought nothing of any implications his statement sounded to other listening ears. "That would be really, really wonderful," she stated. Biting her bottom lip for a moment, she smiled sheepishly up at Zared. "Would you be terribly angry with me if I admitted I kinda forget the directions to my house?' she asked. They could wander around until she remembered where she was going, but would that take too much time? A hopeful smile appeared on her lips, hoping that her own unfocused mind would not irritate him.

Her compliment didn't do much for his bashfulness, though he tucked it away and didn't respond. Not because the topic was dropped but because Zared had no idea how to respond to a compliment like that. He was actually surprised she had responded so quickly to his own, but then she was full of surprises it seemed. Her threat to burst into tears made him grin and he shook his head at her. "An old soldier like you bursting into tears? Why, that would be the day, wouldn't it. Actually maybe I do want that, see how hard it is to crack a soldier's resolve, could come in handy for training my own guards," he joked, his grin as telling as always.
He started to lead her toward the door as she seemed to struggle with her own mind. He was about to say something pretty close to the truth when she stated it for him. He laughed aloud and grinned. "Oh I guess it is good we've cut you off. Very rarely have I ever forgotten where I lived, though it's kind of hard to miss my house. Large as it is and all that you'd probably be more than likely to wander onto it while trying to find it than remember where it is," he forgave her and kept for the door anyway. Though this did raise a somewhat hairy situation.
Well not hairy, so much as he could foresee several wrong comments in his future considering his solution to the problem. He had to keep his tongue in check. He took a breath, checked his tongue and opened his mouth. "Well I could always make room in my bed," he said, and practically slapped himself. "I mean, I'm sure I can make a bed for you. Rather, my estate is large, we can find you a room. I mean . . . actually no, that last one's correct," he stammered. Way to make a mess of things, and so much for keeping his tongue in check.
"It'd certainly help you find your way in the morning," he joked in hopes of covering up the mess he'd just made. "And you even get to avoid that dreadfully bright sun," he added, really hoping she didn't suddenly hate him because his tongue had gotten out of line. This was what always happened and he fully expected a strong slap across the cheek any second now.

Oh, yes, Alleria bursting into tears would be quite the sight to behold. She could not even remember the last time she had cried. She had been stabbed, punched, kicked, broke her arm, and yet she had never cried over that. Probably because she had dealt with pain ever since she was young enough to pick fights, so she had to learn not to show weakness very quickly. Crying meant more fuel for those stupid boys to degrade her even further, and Alleria had always given as good as she got. She smiled slightly, but merely shook her head. "Sorry to disappoint, but you'll have to find another way. I don't cry easily, and did you just call me old?" she teased. How scandalizing! Commenting on a woman's age like that, and Alleria could not care less. She's yell her age out to the entire bar and not really care. She was at the perfect age to get drunk and have a handsome guy escort her out~!
It was very sad that she could not even remember where she lived. Alleria could picture her house, but the streets leading to it were getting all jumbled together. Yeah, she could really not handle alcohol all that well. Alleria was quite glad that Zared did not seem to be annoyed with her, and he took the situation in stride. So sweet, and she was very glad she had gotten drunk in his company than the company of someone else. "Um, I have the problem of not remembering much when I'm drunk. Last time I woke up with my shirt missing. Prank by the other cadets, but I gave them hell for it," she admitted, giggling cheerfully at the memory. She was too lost in her laughter to really think about the implications of her own words that much. It was just a funny memory to her, anyway.
Her head tilted back, glancing up at Zared with a curious expression. Was he offering her a room? She quirked her brow at his mention of making room in his bed. Oh, Goddesses, she had never met someone so adorable in their fumbling to correct themselves. Alleria was all smiles, because she knew that Zared would never take advantage of her. She had never met anyone less likely to, and so she trusted him to be a gentleman. It was still rather funny to watch him stammer and stutter his way through, so she let him continue on. Honestly, Alleria was very grateful for his offer, and she did not want him to think that she was taking everything in a bad way. Her smile faded a little, realizing that he was expecting her to hit him for his remarks. Had this happened to him before? A frown marred her lips for a moment, and she shook her head.
"Zared, I'm not going to hit you. I'm very grateful for your offer, and I know you're just helping me. Thank you," she replied, smiling lightly. She leaned upward to press her lips briefly to his cheek, giving him a much more different reaction than what he was most likely used to. Leaning back, she smiled brightly at him. "See? No hitting involved at all."

Zared sighed. Everything he said was digging his grave, so he wondered why he even tried. But the feeling of her soft lips against his cheek was quite reassuring, even sent his thoughts aflutter. He blinked and looked at her, his cheeks turning about as red as the lips that had just blessed them and for a moment he was just didn't know what to say in response to her. But his tongue did, sort of. "Well uh, welcome you . . . you're thanks . . . you're welcome, and thank you," he managed to finally get out after many different attempts. He really needed to get things under control.
"Sounds like your time in training was fun," he said, then realized he still said the wrong thing. "For what it's worth. Not the losing your shirt thing," he sighed and shook his head. "I swear I don't know what's gotten into me this evening, I can't seem to even say my mind without making a fool of myself," he apologized and bit at his lip. He wasn't really doing much for the evening by saying this, now, was he? Throwing everything out there like this wasn't very gentlemanly, was it?
Instead he turned his attention away from saying things and instead on opening the door, holding it open as the crisp night air blew in and letting her out. It was a beautiful night outside, or maybe that was just the alcohol blurring his vision. Maybe it was just that spell that she had cast over him. The stars were mostly visible behind a few scattered clouds and there was a large crescent moon in the sky. A subtle breeze that was eager to rush in and take the warmth away from the tavern blew, a gentle chill to it as winter fell across the land.
He started away toward his estate, assuming her compliance with his stammering was as good as an approval. He breathed in the fresh air and felt immediately less drunk. Far from sober, but still, it helped clear his head some. With a pretty girl on his arm for the time being he couldn't be happier, though he was not at all comfortable with how mischievous his tongue was being. He looked over at her and smirked. "Well anyway, if you feel free to not hit me again, go right ahead," he said, testing the water and finding he still didn't trust his tongue. "The cheek thing, I mean," he said, though it was hardly fixing anything.

Alleria was quite pleased that she had done something Zared had not expected at all. She mentally cursed whatever women that had hurt before, because someone like him did not deserve it at all. Sure, he tended to say things without thinking, but anyone with half a mind could see they should not be taken at face value. His tendency to stammer was rather endearing, and she preferred too much talking to none at all. Zared looked very cute with his cheeks flushing a dark red, and she was quite proud to have left him relatively speechless. It seemed he was unused to affection from females, so she was happy to indulge him in a rare show. Being drunk was not such a bad thing after all. "No need to thank me," she replied. It had been a kiss freely given, and she would have done so without her own personal prompting to show him something other than a negative reaction.
She wished he would realize that she did not take offense to what he perceived was the wrong thing to be said. A little patience went along way, so Alleria merely smiled again. "I don't think you're making a fool of yourself. I really do think your stammering is endearing," she reassured, no hint of teasing her in her tone. It had been rather fun back when she was still in training and learning combat. They had not been easy years, but her friend had made them interesting enough. She had always tried to convince herself that she was above mischief, but she enjoyed their escapades just as much as he did. Those would always be memories she would cherish, and she smiled fondly. "But, yes, a lot of it could be fun," she answered lightly. She should look to the future now, though.
The fresh, crisp night air was a welcome diversion, and it helped to clear her mind a little. Her vision was still shimmering around the edges, and gravity would work against her if she released Zared's arm, but this was very nice. A very peaceful evening despite being inebriated. The night air was cool, but she enjoyed winter. Things were ending, but she had never liked heat all that much. Quite unlike what a Gerudo should be like, right? Alleria liked playing in the snow, sitting by the fire to read, and enjoying the holidays. Winter could be peaceful when it chose to be. Quiet and serene like this night was. A pleased sigh escaped her lips, and she glanced upward to catch a glimpse of the star littered sky. She let herself be lead by Zared, and just enjoyed the brief quiet and his presence as he guided her back to his home.
Her thoughts scattered as Zared spoke to her, and she glanced upward to see him smirking at her. A giggle escaped her, and she merely shook his head. It seemed his mouth still would not cooperate with what he really wanted to say, but that was alright. Alleria hated to see when people were mistreated, and it was obvious that he had been by uppity women. Rejection of any sort was always hard to experience, and some part of her wanted to erase that for him. Maybe that was why she leaned upward to kiss his cheek again. Alleria was a little surprised at her sudden action, but she covered it up with a sweet smile. "Feel free to ask. I'm more than happy to indulge you," she replied, and she really did mean it.
