Alicia Heartstone
imperfect
RACE,Goron/Human hybrid – human dominant
GENDER,Female
BATTLE ROLE,Tank.
SEXUALITY,Heterosexual questioning (in reality she’s pretty gay)
AGE,Twenty-one.
ALLIANCE,Hylian Knight Lieutenant
PERSONALITY,Alicia is a complicated person, in her way. She’s very rarely outspoken, and will often let others do the talking in any given situation. She is rather quiet, but it’s as much to do with a deep sense of thoughtfulness as it is her own shyness. When she needs to, Alicia can be forceful in a sort of quiet, confident way, and her natural intelligence and capacity to see things from multiple viewpoints enables her to very quickly grasp the reality of a situation, even if she’s more than willing to let other people take the reins, as it were.
Though Alicia isn’t exactly lacking for confidence, she’s never been prideful, thanks to her unique biological condition, and this has lent her a very kind, protective air. She’s always willing to hear out the problems of others, and can be almost maternal to her friends, trying to keep them from any sort of harm, whether it’s of the mind, soul, or body. She almost never gets angry, however, not even in the defense of her friends: she is rather quietly and consistently determined, working only in defense rather than offense. She will also never back down from any threat, as long as she thinks she has to stand against it, even if she’s hopelessly overwhelmed. You’d be right to call her shy, but it’d be a mistake to say she isn’t brave.
Perhaps most pertinently, Alicia has always had the difficult path in life, which has made her very understanding, if perhaps a bit closed off. She finds it hard to confide in people too easily, even those who she should be able to speak to easily, for fear of burdening them with her—to be fair, considerable—troubles.
She’s also just a tiny bit of a fashion nut, and an appreciator of aesthetic beauty. She has carefully constructed her own varied outfits, which all have a sort of aggressive, dark beauty that she seems fond of. She also tends to spend quite a bit of time making sure her hair looks just right. It’s her one tiny indulgence. Despite enjoying looking good, she’s not exactly flirtatious. This is made worse by the fact that she has a pretty strong attraction to other women, one that she’s finding harder and harder to ignore. It’s another source of conflict in what has already been a fairly painful life.
APPEARANCE,
Alicia takes a fair bit of pride in her appearance; as a matter of fact, it’s probably the only thing that she’s just a tiny bit arrogant about. Though she’s on the shorter side, standing at only 5’4”, she has a svelte, long-limbed physique, and her naturally slim, feminine build is toned by her years of fighting and making her way, and her more recent, strenuous position as a Hylian Knight Lieutenant has only served to improve her conditioning.
Alicia has a petite, feminine face, with a small nose and somewhat thin lips, but her eyes are wide and expressive, lending an animated look to her admittedly subdued expressions. Her hair—often kept short, though she’s been known to let it grow longer—is her pride and joy, a carefully arrayed head of blonde spikes, pointing in all directions on her bangs and flowing towards the back of her head on the sides.
As for clothing, she’s known to wear a few elaborate outfits, often made of blade cloth held together by elaborate straps. Her favorite outfit, not least because it is surprisingly sturdy, is a leather vest, accented by a pair of black gloves and a pauldron over one shoulder, with a large piece of black cloth covering her left arm, which is more prone to stone breakouts than the rest of her body. On her legs, she wears a pair of thigh-high, soft leather boots, but also has a sort of half-dress of the same black cloth draped around her left leg. She’s certainly not above showing a little skin, and in fact, kind of enjoys doing so, even if she’d never admit it.
WEAPONS,Hollowheart
- Lightning Blade – Level I ability
As her weapon is battered through battle, the bond it has with its user actually increases. For each hit, blocked or unblocked, that Alicia is involved in (either as aggressor or defender), a single “charge” is put through the weapon. These charges are stored in the blade until they need to be used, to a maximum of five. At any time, she can use any number of charges to launch that many weapons from her sword, at supersonic speed. She will often do this to interrupt or surprise an attacker, while following through with an attack from the remaining weapon she still wields. She can unleash up to three separate swords with precision, perhaps using them to block an attack, seek out an enemy, or even target three enemies separately. However, any more than that, and her ability gets a little imprecise. If she can build five charges, she can spend them all in one post and shoot each sword other than Wrath out from the completed Hollowheart, straight at a single target, sort of like a shotgun made of swords. Travelling at supersonic speeds. Obviously, this hurts a ton.
After the swords have been “fired,” though, they need to cool off a bit; re-integrating with the magical current of the sword is impossible for a while, as the swords have technically been drained of their charge. At the end of each post, if she hasn’t just launched a sword using Lightning Blade, one sword will be recharged and is able to be returned: she can either have it slap into her hand from a distance of at least 20 meters, or she can instead make herself come to it, causing herself to zoom towards the sword’s location.
ITEMS,
Alicia doesn’t really carry much around with her, aside from the basics needed for survival.
ABILITIES,
Crystallis[/ul]
War and Peace
War: In this mode, Alicia will embrace the spirit of combat and violence, and will actually use her own anger to her advantage, allowing it to force her blood to boil over and increase the actual strength in her limbs. When she enters War, her armour will increase by a small amount (roughly equivalent to a light wound), and her sheer brute force is increased threefold. When she leaves War, she loses the armour that was brought about by the shift into War; any armour she accrued normally is left intact.[/ul][/blockquote]
RACIAL ABILITIES,
- Mighty Wind IV – when activated, adds a level to Endurance
- Superhuman Endurance I – upgraded to II when Mighty Wind IV has activated
HISTORY,
There once was a very horny Goron.
This is, essentially, the start of Alicia’s story, because much like another young man somewhere in Hyrule, her mom got knocked up by a travelling Goron who wasn’t exactly too keen on sticking around. This was never really seen as much of a problem by her mother, who had been wanting a child and hadn’t really enjoyed the whole affair with a guy made of stone (unsurprisingly), and so she was more than happy to raise Alicia on her own.
Alicia grew up in the Ordona Village, with her mother, where her dubious birth was considered a minor scandal. To protect her daughter, her mother, an accomplished tradeswoman, started a few trade routes on the road, to keep the family mobile. On the road, they came into routine contact with several bodyguards, mercenaries, and generally armed men whose job it was to keep the goods they were carrying safe. Alicia was always fascinated by these people, who had the power to protect others, and though she never learned directly from any of them, she watched them intently, picking up on their every move, and whenever she could, would practice with wooden or pretend swords in the woods.
Of course, doing this sort of thing led to a few scrapes and bruises, which weren’t really problematic when she was young. When she was about twelve, however, a rather noted change came about in the form of huge, diamond-hard crystals bursting out of her skin wherever she was cut.
Suffice to say, it hurt a lot. More than a young girl was really able to handle. Fearing for her daughter and having a pretty good guess as to the cause of her daughter’s condition, Alicia’s mother took her to Castle Town, to a healer, who identified the problem and suggested that the only way to really heal the condition was through a conditioning of her own will. Alicia’s mother nearly bankrupted herself hiring tutors of philosophy to teach her daughter to learn self-control, and warriors, to teach her how to comport herself with skill. Eventually, Alicia became quite competent in the control of her gift—or curse—and began to protect her mother’s own caravan, whose business was more crucial than ever. She proved a surprisingly competent fighter, perhaps because she, more than most, was aware of the pain that a single injury could bring, and after a while she and her mother had little fear of being attacked on the road.
By then, she was a young woman of sixteen, who had never had any real friends or family, and who had spent most of her life alone, without knowing anything much about herself or other people, save what she read in books. Perhaps out of guilt, her mother divulged Alicia’s true nature, and that of her father; while Alicia desperately wished to see her father, her mother strictly forbade it, and so Alicia stayed with her mother, protecting her caravan. Around this time, their caravan connected to Castle Town, where she would often see the Hylian Knights in action. She was attracted by their gleaming armour, their ostensible nobility, and the justice of their cause. It was at this time that her private desire to join the Knights began, though she knew that as long as her mother needed her, she would be unable to.
For years, she travelled with her mother, earning a somewhat dubious reputation as a bizarrely young girl who was an equally bizarrely effective bodyguard. Alicia started to lament her strange, wandering existence, wanting to find people to actually connect with in a permanent way, but she didn’t know how to tell her mother that she wanted to leave. Her mother, meanwhile, was still convinced that her little girl would not be able to handle the world without her.
As they were travelling, Alicia would ask more questions. She would ask for the name of her father, ask if they would ever settle down anywhere; sometimes, in a quiet way, she would even ask how much a good bodyguard cost. At around the same time, Alicia started realizing that whenever they would stop in Inns, she found herself looking at not only the men, but the women as well. This was deeply embarrassing for a girl raised by a surprisingly conservative mother (surprising, given that she had an affair with a Goron).
In time, though, her mother began to recognize that Alicia wasn’t a child, and had in fact been taking care of her for the past few years. Deciding suddenly to retire, she gently encouraged her daughter to go to Castle Town and become a Knight, giving her her father’s name and a suggestion of where to begin to look for him. Alicia would quickly become a knight, famous for her quiet, gentle demeanour, unique strength and determination, and a minor obsession in looking in archives to find out if her father had sired anyone else like her. She wanted to know if anyone else had her unique, painful condition: and wanted to know if she could be fixed.
Eventually, she found the name “Leon Swyft,” who she had recognized as a knight but never really spoken to. She soon discovered she was his half-sister, at around the same time that she was promoted to the position of Hylian Knight Lieutenant. For a long time, Alicia’s story was always about other people: about her mother, about searching for any siblings she may have. Now, for the first time, it has the chance to be about her.
And she’s not sure what to do about that.
