The day had just dawned yet Seayn had, miraculously, been up already. He had taken a drastic change in appearance. He had borrowed some dye, coloring his hair a black, brought black armor, and wore a darker colored Hylian shield. He kept his scabbard the same though, black with golden filigree that made it seem as if it was rather expensive. Within it was a weapon that looked beautifully crafted, yet somehow retained no edge and refused to deal more damage than the brush of a feather against bare flesh. The young human had gone for a more intimidating looked with this armor, a few spikes on his pauldrons for good measure, a bit over sized, and, just for good measure, a helmet that covered his entire face, somewhat shaped like a skull.
There was a sign off to the side, clearly stating that "Five rupees to pass. Land a blow upon me with a weapon before I strike you and I shall let you pass." Painted with bold strokes of black paint. The black knight stood with his sword blade firmly pressed against the large bricks of the bridge. Most weapons wouldn't withstand such treatment but he feared that he was going to be stuck with Excalipur for life. Seayn didn't really intend upon collecting any money from bypassers yet he figured that some stranger would like to trade blows and what better way was there to learn to adapt in combat than to jump directly into a battle, hopefully only until the first blow, with some random adventurer?

Gavin was heading down the road towards the heart of Lanayru when he saw the sign indicating a toll. At the time, he was walking, but his feathers gave him the power of flight. He could have easily just flown around the bridge, but this was a much more interesting venture. Was it bandits? Some overzealous swordsman? Or just a dude with enormous black armor?
Gavin approached the center of the bridge, drawing his weapon of choice, the longsword. Holding it firmly outward, he smiled confidently and waited for the start of the battle.

Seayn looked the large oocca over. He appeared to bepowerful and definitely built to be a warrior. He was sure that such a person would be his match on combat and more. The young Knight decided to forego most pleasantries, giving the other warrior a simple salute with his sword.
Seayn brought his sword at his opponent in a heavy diagonal chop. A straightforward head on attack to test his opponent's basic capabilities.

Good. Gavin didn't need to deal with pleasantries. Pleasantries to the oocca warrior were for after the battle, complimenting and criticizing the moves of yourself and your opponent.
As the sword came down towards him, Gavin simply moved his sword up to block the incoming back. Steel met steel and the battle was on. It was clear this man was strong, quite strong. Backing off, Gavin once again faced his opponent. Using his wings he was able to get a level of acceleration towards his opponent, flying straight forward and thrusting with his sword.

Seayn felt the solid block connect with basically what had been an unrefined hack. The man had the dexterity and strength to be a powerful swordsman but he wasn't quite sure if he had the skill that would come with more in the moment decisions that he made. The knight felt that he was in for more than he had bargained for and he had only just set up shop.
The oocca backed up, the black knight's shoulders were set in determination, even as the other warrior lunged at him more quickly than would be possible for any average human. His Hylian Shield was thrust out, meant to catch the sword and deflect it to the side while his sword lashed out, meaning to use the other fighter's momentum to make him hit it. Excalipur, being Excalipur, wouldn't deal any damage if it connected regardless.

Gavin, rather than try to go against the shield, went with it, and turned it into a roll, dodging the blow from Excalipur. Using his wings to control his movement he was easily able to turn himself around and face Seayn. This was getting good.
Now it was time to simply gauge his opponent. Approaching slowly, Gavin took a few slow steps towards Seayn with fast attacks, easily blockable attacks for a man of any skill.

Seayn's opponent turned with the block, proving that he wasn't just going to madly charge in without a way out. It might be a long and drawn out battle yet the young man had no doubt that eventually someone would land the fated blow that would end the match. The warrior came in with quick blows although they were blatantly obvious in where they were going, obviously just testing him.
The young knight parried the blows with his sword, not deeming the use of his shield necessary. He gave ground while blocking, waiting for the right moment to go back in. He attempted to snake in a quick blow to Gavin's chest, blocking the other man's blow with his shield. He was hoping the change in the pattern of the fight would throw him off, if just for a moment.

His parries were seamless, his form superb. A great challenge, but he choreographed his attack when he switched to blocking with his shield. Rather than move his sword, he parried the blow with his dagger, him having a weapon on either side of himself, even with his longsword drawn. From there he pushed back, spinning the dagger in his hand before sheathing it.
Two hands upon his sword again and he was right back in the fray, trying to figure out a great time for an abuse of Seayn's skill. So far an obvious opening was not presenting itself, so Gavin simply had to push harder, increasing the speed of his strokes. Back to the back and forth games of martial combat, Gavin's strokes quick and pure as they crossed Seayn's boy and met his sword.

Seayn was impressed with the ambidextrous ability of his opponent. The young man hadn't even noticed the weapon with the sword drawing so much of his attention. The knight could only wonder why his opponent had decided to leave the weapon sheathed instead of in hand for more versatile options. Perhaps this warrior considered his powerful attacks to be more useful than the more confusing ability of dual wielding.
The young man simply met Gavin's blows. Alternating between sword and shield to deflect the blows. He let this continue for a moment wanting to see what creative attacks his opponent might create. His shield arm did to sag about, holding a heavy metal shield for extended times did wear upon him. While it wasn't enough to allow an attack past yet, in the future it might bear fruitful results.

Gavin did in fact notice the light sag of the armor. While it was unlike him to be so relentless in his attacks, when he found a weakness in his opponents he was going to exploit it.
He focused his attacks more on Seayn's shield side, keeping an eye on Seayn's blade, not that it was hard to miss, just in case a parry was necessary. Should it be, he still had enough range of motion to bring his sword over to parry, though he did prefer to keep up the pressure on his shield arm.
