Twilight hung over the village as Kaythenia approached, keeping her wits about her despite the apparent quiet. Thankfully it was a warm enough evening and there were few people wandering around at this time. The citizens were either wandering towards the Inns and Taverns or to Home if they were so Lucky. The Bard kept her eyes closely trained on the area, just incase...no sign of her Hunter. For now she could breathe a sigh of relief, for now at least. She reached inside the bodice of her shirt and pulled out her true wallet, in her first few months alone she had not been wise to the ways of thieves but had learned quickly. She kept a fake one with only a few rupees tied to the belt about her hips and the other inside her bodice, so far it had worked perfectly well. Luckily it was full enough to warrant staying at the Tavern tonight if there were any rooms spare, she had earned a decent amount of money performing for a group of travellers not two days ago.
The place seemed to have a fair few people seated at it's tables, laughing or talking at leisure. It wasn't so quiet that she would stand out too much, here she could blend fairly easily. At least she hoped. Kaythenia pushed the heavy oak door open, the hinges creaking in protest as she did so. Some of the customers looked up at the sound but paid her no further mind as she crossed the space to the bar. Kaythenia pulled herself up onto a barstool and leaned her forearms on the bartop, tucking a lock of fiery hair behind one ear to keep it out of her face. The swallow tailed sleeves of her shirt had fallen away to the elbow, exposing her skin and the fabric draped along the bar.
It didn't take long for the bartender to acknowledge her precense and to place her order for hot tea and a bowl of stew. He left shortly after to send her order to the small kitchen at the back, leaving the young magess to glance around the tavern taking in it's patrons.

It probably wasn't the best night for someone to try going about unnoticed in the tavern tonight. A giant of a man was approaching the tavern and he wasn't a giant simply for his height either. He had a giant of a personality, probably as easily comparable to a Goron, which was an interesting concept. Kicking the door open as it slammed against the wall, "Oi, you buncha bastards, Maverick's here time to lighten this mood!"
It was pretty much impossible to miss a man with such a personality, he stuck out like a fire in a forest. Being female just made the situation worse with this man as well, it was like sending a beacon to have him come sit next to you. He was a flirt, and a pervert, though he did have his own charms to him that was beside the point right now.
Walking over to the bar, he spotted one such woman, with fiery hair and smiled, taking a seat beside her. Giving the bartender a nod, as the man set about to get the human's order together. ""ello there, miss. Why is such a pretty one as yourself sittin' all alone, hm?"

"Oi, you buncha bastards, Maverick's here time to lighten this mood!"
Kaythenia rolled her eyes skyward and sighed, turning her back on the door as the stranger walked in. She was surprised that his ego could fit through the door but apparently he managed it. The relaxed atmosphere of the tavern changed the second he stormed inside, the sound of the door slamming into the wall echoed through the space. The Bard wasn't going to grant him the attention he was no doubt seeking with such a rude exclaimation. Her tea arrived infront of her and she calmly poured a cup, adding milk but no sugar to the brew before taking a sip. She glanced up and caught the eye of the bartender who appeared somewhat strained, maybe this stranger was a regular...joy. Kaythenia would have no remember not to frequent Kakariko if this was the company that the place encouraged. Or by the look on the barkeep's face...didn't encourage. As long as he was nothing to do with the Order then he could ponce around the place all he wanted...
But of course, fate would decree that he chose that exact moment to seat himself beside her. Kaythenia resisted the urge to get up and move just to prove her point.
"ello there, miss. Why is such a pretty one as yourself sittin' all alone, hm?"
But after that comment she had a feeling that he might just follow her if she did so. She took her time to reply, swallowing her mouthful of tea and glancing over at the stranger. Everyone had their charms but at the moment Kaythenia was failing to see what his happened to be. The expression that crossed her face was reminiscent of responding to a waft of a bad smell, in other words she was not at all amused by him. The young woman crossed her arms over her chest before choosing her words carefully.
"Perfectly fine before you sat down, kindly take your ego elsewhere. I'm surprised you even made it through the door without it getting in the way."

When she answered, he laughed, it was fun meeting a fiery personality like her. Though she had gotten a few things wrong about him as well, which just cause more chuckling from deep within his chest. "Sorry, there's not an ounce of ego on me. I just prefer living with no restrictions, never know when it will be over, so might as well enjoy it," he shrugged, leaning back against the counter. The chef coming out from the back and approaching the red-haired wild man. Taking a swipe with his cleaver towards the man's hair, only to find it missing for the spot on the counter.
"Sorry, old man. You're just getting too up in age to catch me anymore," he said making a face. The elderly man laughed and shook his head, "I taught you everything you know, of course when you're in your prime I can't keep up. I'll get you to cut that hair of yours one day, real warriors look like this." The man removed his hat to show that he was bald underneath, grinning widely as if it was something to be proud of. "Hah! I'm never gonna look like that, you're just jealous cause I look hotter than you," he pointed accusingly, both men stared with what seemed like fury at each other before laughing once more. "Alright, old man. It was good seeing you again, try to keep out of trouble and leave the fighting to the skilled," he smirked, which got him a look from the chef before he disappeared into the kitchen once more.
"Anywho, as a warrior, I've experienced life in ways most people can't understand. I just have no restrictions on how I need to live, you should give it a try," he laughed, taking a drink from his ale as it came. "It's a lot more fun then being all quiet and hiding in the corner of a bar," he shrugged, taking another drink, of course something else was happening as well. His hand was starting to move on its own once more, as it did in reaction to being around a beautiful woman. His hand was down and groping her ass, the man not even knowing what his hand was doing himself.

"Sorry, there's not an ounce of ego on me. I just prefer living with no restrictions, never know when it will be over, so might as well enjoy it,"
Or perhaps he just wasn't reading Kaythenia's 'go get hit by a cart' signals...it was ever so tempting to throw the remainder of her cup of tea directly into his insolent face but the Magess remembered the idea wasn't to draw unwanted attention to herself. Despite wanting to hurt the person who was currently getting on her nerves, she gritted her teeth and kept her gaze away from him. Like he wasn't even worth the effort of looking at. She could see the old man coming at him with a Meat Cleaver and privately hoped that his aim was accurate. Although the fates of course would decree that the man who was so insistent on staying within her company dodged it, then promptly began to banter with the old man. Oh joy, she didn't restrain herself from leaning her head in her hand at this point while making a mental note not to come back here.
Even when the man had got back to his post he carried on talking to her like she was some damsel who ought to be hanging on his every word. Ergh, men like him made her positively nauseous! She gave Maverick a very cold look which he seemed to be either not notice or not care, one or the other.
"Anywho, as a warrior, I've experienced life in ways most people can't understand. I just have no restrictions on how I need to live, you should give it a try, "It's a lot more fun then being all quiet and hiding in the corner of a bar,"
Kaythenia took another mouthful of her tea, hoping soon that he would get the message and stop talking. But he did next was almost enough to make her spit it out, he had placed his hand on her rear end! Of all the nerve of him! Immediately Kaythenia's temper flared and she did something she would normally have thought more carefully about, especially within a public place. She jumped off her stool, knocking it to the ground with a crash that made the other patrons heads turn. Grabbed him by the fabric of his shirt with one hand and the other held infront of his face, flames licking her fingers and dancing as far back as her wrist. Normally magic infront of people was a big no, there were already audible gasps from people in the bar.
"Remove your hand or would you like to find out what it would feel like to have my handprint burnt onto your face?!"

When the sound of the stool hit the ground, he glanced towards the woman feeling he hand suddenly grasping his shirt. Though, his body reacted in the natural way, as a hand grasped the one with the fire and squeezed in around the wrist. For someone not used to fighting melee it would feel something like a vice, even without super strength. His eyes had a different shimmer to them for a second, as their faces turned towards each other. One of something far more feral and dangerous laying beneath the surface, buried deep within. Shaking his head, he closed his eyes before releasing the woman's hand.
Turning back towards her as she mentioned his hand, he looked down and laughed, "Oh that, sorry, it's become a natural thing for my body to do that around beautiful women." The second time it seemed that instinctual habit was going to get him into trouble. "Well, it did at least finally get you to talk to me. Now how about having an actual conversation, sheesh. Pain in the ass quiet people," he grinned and removed his hand from her ass.
"Although, that does sound kind of kinky to have a hand print brand," as if there was no worry from him. Being fearless like he was, he held no sort of worry getting any injuries, he would simply take them as they came.

The flames that licked Kaythenia's hand died down slightly although not fully as the stranger removed his hand from her ass. At least he was keeping his hands to himself for now but she was hesistant to give it up quite yet...especially as he didn't seem to be bothered by the fact she was threatening him with facial disfigurement. She let the front of his shirt go but gave him a very cold look at his ability to make a joke about forementioned threat. She lowered her hand and the flames vanished as if they had never even been there, not even the fabric of her gloves was harmed. The magic may have died down but the look in her eyes had not, her slightly volatile temper was still flared even if there were no real flames. The Magess stepped back slightly, if this 'Maverick' wanted to converse with her he was going the wrong way about it, so far he suceeded in making her angry but that was really about it.
"If that's your method of attempting to talk to women then I suggest you rethink your approach!"
Kaythenia didn't raise her voice but the tone said it all, quiet and clipped. Although the flames had died down people were still watching her intently. Hylians were not as oft seen as humans but Mages were even fewer. Usually if you did see one they had the self control not to reveal themselves out of anger. Normally Kaythenia managed not to but dealing with Maverick and his belief that he had the right to touch her...just like Davik believed he had that right. Flared her temper. She took a breath, she knew that she had to calm down...the whole idea had been to blend. The young woman picked up her stool and placed it back in an upright position. Thankfully the cook saved her from needing to say anything else when her bowl of stu and a hot bread roll, people thankfully began to go back to what they were doing. She sat back down and gave Maverick a harsh sideways look.

He smirked as she gave him a cold look, it wasn't like he did it on purpose, when one was born without a sense of fear, things just aren't scary. Intimidation doesn't work, and there is no fear to slow them down with hesitation, he went forward with everything. She seemed to have a few misconceptions about him, but that was just the more fun as well, when he got to prove them all wrong. Though when she mentioned approaching her the wrong way to get her to talk, he sat down next to her. Staring right at her with an unflinching gaze, "Alright, so tell me then, how should I approach you then, hm?"
She had brought up the conversation topic, so it was her own fault that he took it. "I mean, the way you make it sound, is that you think I've got an ulterior motive for coming over and talking. Do you think you've got a general idea of the type of person I am?" he smirked with confidence, that she had no idea what he was really like. That she just assumed from his little appearance here, but even then, that was a misconception about him as well.
"So, tell me how does one approach you and have a chat with you," he leaned his chin on his arm, and while it might seem he was being a smartass, his eyes showed that he was being sincere.

"Alright, so tell me then, how should I approach you then, hm? I mean, the way you make it sound, is that you think I've got an ulterior motive for coming over and talking. Do you think you've got a general idea of the type of person I am? So, tell me how does one approach you and have a chat with you,"
Kaythenia almost choked on the mouthful of stew she had taken to make the point that she would rather eat than bother wasting her energy on him. She swallowed and glanced sidelong at him, did he not get the message? Or was he simply too much of a bloody idiot to notice that she would rather carve out her own eyeballs with the spoon she was currently eating with than talk to him...more preferably his eyeballs but there you go, can't have everything. He had made himself comfortable beside her and apparently ready to have the discussion. All of a sudden Kaythenia's appetite had vanished and she looked down at the bowl, no longer feeling the urge to tuck into it's contents. She pushed it away slightly. Feeling somewhat resentful...
"Your motives are somewhat transparent, coming over and thinking you have the right to put your hands on me, only removing them when I threatened you with facial disfigurement."
She stated as calmly as she could manage, just wishing that he would take the hint and get lost. Although there wasn't much hope of him getting thrown out since he was so friendly with the staff...Kaythenia kept her arms crossed and body turned subtly away from Maverick. At least the other patrons had now completely gone back to whatever they were doing rather than observing their actions. That she could be thankful for even though his every pore seemed to be bleed arrogance and it was enough to grate on her nerves. Why did he feel the need to have a conversation with her? Why couldn't he go galloping off into the sunset and annoy some other person who was making a hopeless attempt to blend in?! With slight irritation she moved a rogue lock of hair out of her eyes.

He listened to her words, but there was a grin constantly spread across his features as he did. "Unfortunately, like I said, that's a natural reaction. It's like blinking for me, body does it on its own without my consent or anything," he explained, his body had just adapted it to make it something that happened automatically. "Another note, I didn't actually remove it because you threatened me. You could threaten me til you're blue in the face, if I don't wanna, I ain't gonna do a thing," he laughed, leaning back, as he looked across the tavern. Turning his attention back to the woman, "The fact that you think my intention are clear, just means you really don't know my intentions at all~." His voice was playful and almost child-like with his tone, if there was one thing to say about him, it was his intentions were never decided until the moment he did something.
"The only actual intention I had when I sat down was to have a chat with you. Nothing more, nothing less. You should really get to know people before ya judge'em," he made a slightly childish face at her. Though waved his hand dismissively, as if not feeling bothered by what she said about him. "Look, gimme a chance, sure we got off on the wrong foot, but I can guarantee I'm a good guy. Besides, I'm a one of a kind, bastard," he winked, still being cheerful as always.
He wasn't bothered by being called names or anything, in fact, he could probably call himself worse than most others could. "How about this, tell me why you're all quiet and sitting alone? A pretty one like you could have a pick of anyone she fancied, no? Plus, you'd never have to really worry too much about things, right?" with that magic of hers, she could deal with most tavern goers with ease. So, why would she resign herself to sitting in the corner, and being all lonesome. It made no sense to the large man, as his ale and food were brought out, he hit his fist against the chef's and began to eat a bit.

Says the man who was busy hanging onto her wrist to make sure she didn't scar him for life before she decided to get a grip on herself. What on earth was he so pleased about? That grin that spread across his face while he spoke was enough to rile her, why was he so interested in driving her completely insane anyway? Maverick had already managed to make Kaythenia angry and put her off her food within roughly fifteen minutes of intruding on her personal space. Her arms were no longer loosely crossed over her chest, they were now locked there instead and her entire posture screamed rigidity and gave off an aura of 'Leave me alone'. Although of course this would work on most people, Maverick apparently wasn't 'most people', he was either completely oblivious or just having fun ignoring it altogether and driving her completely mad in the process?
"The only actual intention I had when I sat down was to have a chat with you. Nothing more, nothing less. You should really get to know people before ya judge'em, Look, gimme a chance, sure we got off on the wrong foot, but I can guarantee I'm a good guy. Besides, I'm a one of a kind, bastard,"
A disbelieving brow quirked up at that statement and the Mage couldn't resist the urge to make a harsh comment even though it would probably do nothing to shake his resolve in having a chat to her. "You got the bastard bit correct if nothing else." She said slightly coldly, still not wavering to his attempts to charm her into a full conversation with him. When the owner brought out his food and ale it appeared she was indeed stuck with him, he was settling in for the long haul. Oh joy. It was too late to travel and find somewhere else and moving would serve no purpose than him following her. Her thoughts were quickly interrupted by Maverick's next statement though.
"How about this, tell me why you're all quiet and sitting alone? A pretty one like you could have a pick of anyone she fancied, no? Plus, you'd never have to really worry too much about things, right?"
That was when it came back to her.
"It's a shame really..."
Davik stated, tipping her chin up with a single, long finger and forcing her to look at him. Kaythenia was on her knees, fighting against the silver Braigh that bound her wrists tightly, burning the skin on it's contact. Everytime she tried to summon her abilities it felt like a knife had passed through her which caused ragged cry to escape her lips. Her hunter then yanked the chain of the Braigh, pulling her closer towards him.
"Pretty one like you."Davik reached for Kaythenia's hair and played with a red lock, twisting it around his finger. "You're almost a dead ringer for her. Same fire but I do intend to break you of that, Red."
"Not...likely." Kaythenia managed to force out through the wall of pain, her expression a veil of defiance over the almost paralyzing fear that coursed through her like poison. That response seemed to please Davik, a low chuckle escaped his throat and his smirk caused the cut on his lip to trickle a thin red line down his chin from where she had struck him. What he did next was worse than any violence he could have threatened her with, he roughly grabbed her by the back of the head, burying his fingers deep in her hair and kissed her, smearing his blood across her lips.
She fought against it but it didn't end until he finally let go, she wanted to vomit at the bitter taste and the intrusion of it. Davik got to his feet and his booted foot collided with her stomach, Kaythenia's breath left her in a rush. She couldn't intake a breath, it hurt too much. From there Davik removed the Braigh from her wrists while she lay on the ground in a ball of pain, gasping.
"I'll give you half a day's head start...better start running."
Kaythenia shook her head, jolting herself back to the present moment. The cold expression that had been fixed upon her face had slipped when the memory came back to her. It made her look tired and perhaps a little afraid when the ice queen demeanor slipped if only for a moment or so. Quickly she had snapped back to herself again and looked away from Maverick. "Shut up and leave it."

"Oh, so lil' miss has some jokes she can make," he made another childish face at her. Still never bothered by something as simple as words, of course, there wasn't a lot that could bother him. He was just like a slab of steel, hard to damage and all that stuff, which made it fun when people tried. "Anywho, like I said. Why not gimme a chance, and maybe you'll be surprised about who I really am?" he crossed his arms, wondering why people seemed to prejudge him, simply based on a few simple things. Sure, he was loud, but that was because he believed in living life largely, what was the point of being silent all the time?
The next words he spoke seemed to drop that cold exterior of hers, and showed a tired and afraid woman. Raising an eyebrow as when she snapped back, she told him to leave it be, he shrugged slightly, turning towards his ale and taking a quick drink from it. "Not like you'd have to hide anything from me, everyone's got things they'd rather not deal with. Who knows, if you told someone, it might make you feel better and could open up something new that you never saw before," he shrugged once more before taking a bite of his food next. To him, it was just like having a normal conversation, he did have an idea of what might interest her thought.
"Tell you what, you tell me your secret an' I'll tell you mine, that not even my best friend knows about, how's that?" he offered, wondering if him telling her something in return would help her feel better. He was just trying to help, especially seein' that face she made but a few minutes ago. "You might feel better if you tell someone, eh? Maybe not carry such a burden all on yer own," he would let her decide though, if she didn't want to, then he would just leave the subject alone. Well, for the time being anyways, depended on what all happened, he supposed.

"Oh, so lil' miss has some jokes she can make, Anywho, like I said. Why not gimme a chance, and maybe you'll be surprised about who I really am?"
Did Maverick just not take the hint? Why was he so bloody interested in letting her know 'who he really was'? They were total strangers! He had just sat himself beside her and was totally unwelcome in doing so, making her feel uncomfortable and extremely ill at ease. Maverick himself may have been difficult to bother or offend but Kaythenia just wanted to be left alone and no matter what she said or did seemed to be making him get the point. The Magess couldn't bring herself to give him eye contact and seemed to be finding the scratches on the varnished bartop very interesting. She put her hands in her lap, clenched into tight fists, enough to make the leather of her well worn fingerless gloves creak slightly at the tension.
"Not like you'd have to hide anything from me, everyone's got things they'd rather not deal with. Who knows, if you told someone, it might make you feel better and could open up something new that you never saw before, Tell you what, you tell me your secret an' I'll tell you mine, that not even my best friend knows about, how's that? You might feel better if you tell someone, eh? Maybe not carry such a burden all on yer own,"
Kaythenia realised that she must have let her guard drop for just a moment because he was perceptive enough to pick up on it. Despite that she didn't want to start pouring her heart out to someone she didn't know and so far had done his best to annoy her deeply. Now he was trying to get a complete stranger to open up to him...it was none of his business! The young woman took a deep breath and realised it was perhaps time to remove herself from the situation altogether. She had lost her appetite anyway, she hopped off the stool and placed five rupees onto the bar to pay for her untouched meal before turning to Maverick. "I'm not hiding anything, you're just a total stranger who has decided that it would be a fun idea to pick my brain about some secret you're convinced I have. I don't care about your sordid past!"
She had realised that he was coming too close to her sore spots and Kaythenia would prefer to put her money down for a room for the night...even if she didn't think she was going to sleep much. The young woman walked past Maverick and to the otherside of the bar, trying to attract the attention of the barkeep. "Are there any rooms left for the night?"

He began to chuckle, as the women seemed to think that his past was sordid. Though this secret had nothing to do with anything like that, and he looked towards himself. As she walked past a second voice spoke up, clearly this one was not Maverick with its more noble sounding tone. "Excuse me, Miss. I would prefer not being considered sordid, I don't believe being a death is anything ignoble at all. Everything dies, I just guide it to where it belongs," his voice was majestic sounding.
"I dunno, the current situation could be considered sordid," Maverick chimed in with a slight laugh. There was a sigh, "This is your fault, I hope you know that." Shrugging his shoulders, "Hey, I am who I am. I've been this way since a kid, nothin' scares me, so why should I not be myself?"
The voice turned to speak towards the woman once more, "You must understand, he hadn't meant to just intrude. Despite his means, he was concerned about that expression and just wanted to help." Maverick took a drink of his ale, stupid wolf was trying to talk more than it should now. He wondered if death could actually get drunk, this was something that he wanted to try testing out now. However it seemed that it wasn't working as the creature was still talking quite clearly in his mind. Pain in the ass that it was when it could do things like that.
