Indeed, the weather was worsening. It seemed the cold front she rode in on was stirring the frigid weather into an oblivion she might not be able to handle. If he had not suggested leaving, she would have. Although, the manner in which he suggested doing so intrigued her.
She watched the dagger dive into the flesh of a nearby tree, then looked back at the winged stranger with excitement in her eyes. Oh, how oh how would he suggest making it exciting, she wondered. When his suggestion finally came, her grin faded a little. It was not that it was a bad one nor that it was not exciting, but that she did not at all grasp why he would throw his dagger then suggest they hurry to the bottom. What was the point of it? There had to be a reason...
Never-the-less, a race was at hand. Her wings fluttered wildly out of excitment, causing her to lift off the ground a little, only to be pushed a little to the side again. "As long as we are not restricted to feet!"

Gavin nodded to her. "Just don't harm the other competitors." And with that, he was off. He ran over to the tree and pulled his dagger out before kicking one of the leaves to go. Now that he was on the move, he kept his wings retracted, trying to keep his wind resistance as low as he could. His start was good so far, he got a running start and now was skating down the hill. This wasn't so hard. In truth, it was his preferred way of getting down this mountain.

Again, Aereth could not contain her giggles. Harm the other competitors? She would never have even though to. Her lapse of giggles put her back quite a bit, as Gavin had clearly already taken off. Realizing this, Aereth brushed her golden hair from her face and put game face on. Yes. For once her smile was not to be seen. Instead she had a playful narrow eyed one in its place.
Almost as quickly as the other winged individual did, her feet pressed hard against the snow to give herself a running start. As she came to the very edge where the hill begam to rapidly decline, she pushed off once again. This time, both feet pushed from the same spot, throwing her body into a leap from the side. As if diving into an ocean, her arms moved out straight ahead of her as her body rode the wind and gravity did half the work for her. As her body came close to the ground (considering she was pulled into a fall directly downward and the hill sloped off), she rapidly transformed into ball form again. Then, the tiny woman would zip out away from the hill only to transform into her full form once again to dive fall her way down the hill once again.
Using her wings, she was able to manipulate her path somewhat, so that she was still letting gravity work her down the hill while avoiding obstacles that she would otherwise have had a ghastly meeting with.
This time, it brought her just far enough to catch up with her competitor. Just before she came so close that it would appear she would collide with him, she snapped back into ball form. It took quite a bit of force for her to keep up with his rapid descent in this form, but with much deliberation she managed it β only to latch on to his hair once again. In this position she was whipped around with the force of the cold air. In his run, he might not have noticed the difference, but she would make herself known shortly. Climbing her way up his hair she shouted as loudly as she could in hopes that he would hear her.
βIs it cheating if I let you do the work for me?β she joked.

Gavin was sure he had gotten a sizable lead. He was skating along at a very fast speed, and in addition he was going with the wind.
Before long though, he felt a light tug on his hair. Not particularly noticeable but just enough for it to be clear this race was now dead even. Crafty girl indeed.
"No, but you better hang on tight, this is gonna be a wild ride." It was time to test the wing out as he kicked the frozen board out of under him and spread out his wings to take to the air, above the foliage of Snowpeak.
Then he dive-bombed back down the mountain, where all there were were the slopes of Snowpeak, just enjoying the cold wind in his face. There was still some time left before he would reach the bottom, but for now he was enjoying the view he had created for himself.
