[/color] He was still circling the troll, moving closer or farther away in intervals, his head low and angled. It wasn't a respectful gesture, but a predatory one: it was the stance of a predator reader to move in for the kill. Boundless continued.

"What if I were to say that I will leave here and go slaughter a few children or a pregnant mother or two? Cut down some father of four, some drivel like that. You would let it happen, would you? Talk all you like of the value of peace, but as long as one person in this world is not devoted to it, creatures like me will rule Hyrule."[/size][/ul][/blockquote]

Eliam just sighed, disappointed. "Then I would have to stop you. That's what friends do, stop each other from doing something so stupid. One day there will be peace in every heart. Until that day, the temporary victories of violence can often serve to facilitate the long-term goal. In a choice between violence and cowardice, I will choose violence."

He didn't even give Boundless the courtesy of keeping his eyes on it, opting instead to stare at the fire. "There will come a day when my disciples and I have toppled the governments of Hyrule with our words alone and we will make all things equal."

Finally, Boundless laughed.

[/color] He continued to circle the troll, revelling in the tension, almost feeling the conflict in the monster's blood. "If my way can make you abandon yours, when the hour is dark, then your way is no way at all," he whispered, his voice a dark growl. He was behind the troll now, and stopped. His huge jaws were hovering over the troll's shoulder, whispering into his ear.

"Peace will never reign. It is an abomination. A lie. Peace will never reign while each and every creature on this earth knows that to get what it wants, it need only take it. If you try and separate your mind from the world it will only become stagnant, sterile, and lifeless. You are inert. You are nothing. And that your nothing cannot stop me unless you change it is only proof that I will always be right and you will always be a liar."

He paused, and continued walking, setting himself down across from the troll once more.

"Make no mistake, liar. When I leave you here, I will eat many more rabbits. Some of them with only two legs."[/size][/ul][/blockquote]

[Eliam]

Eliam's expression shifted to one of raw sorrow. "If you love nothing, then you are the one who is inert. I will change the whole world if I have to. Peace will reign, I promise you."

Eliam actually smiled, entertained. He could learn a lot from this creature that challenged him so completely. "Do you not have anything you care about? Family, perhaps?"

The beast continued to stalk the troll,

Eliam sighed. There was defeat in that sound, but the kind he could appreciate. He was fighting a losing battle, but it was worth it for the lessons he would take from this encounter. He was less interested in the debate now than he was in learning more about the way his new friend thought. Boundless in many ways embodied everything Eliam was working to eventually destroy. "My teaching must be more effective than I thought," he said and chuckled. "Already you consider all things equal."

And then he laughed, a full, bright laugh free of the sorrow he'd displayed earlier. He didn't mind Boundless's threats, really. Relating to humans was hard, even for Eliam. Perhaps an evening with the beast was exactly what he needed. "What stops you then from choosing to love others? Why not choose peace?"

The predator was unmoved.

He turned his back to Eliam, walking towards the forest once more. He turned his head to the side, so that the troll could see the full profile of his jaws, their power and strength.

"In the end," Boundless said, his teeth flashing in the firelight as he spoke, "You will never be able to run away from yourself. In the end, you will catch your own delusions, and destroy it. Those teeth of yours, troll. They are not for talking, kissing, or loving. They are for flesh, blood, and bone. One day those teeth will remind you what they are for."

Without a further wood, he disappeared into the dark, becoming the night, as it became him.

The primary emotion Eliam felt for Boundless was pity. The wolf's life was not life. The wolf would destroy itself in the end. Eliam knew this from experience. After Boundless left, Eliam got up and checked his snares. Sure enough, another rabbit had fallen into his traps. His aura made it complacent, even docile as he picked it up and carried it back to the camp.

He ate it alive. Bit its head off and ate the whole animal; bones, blood, guts, fur, claws, all of it. It was good. He felt a bit better after it was done, and he washed it down with water and crawled into the tent, falling asleep immediately.
