[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] A vague answer, but she was not about to question it. After all, while she was not a person big on secrecy, she had no interest in disclosing things that did not need to be known. Which was pretty much everything about her, wasn't it? She was the kind to dance around personal questions, never really giving a straight answer unless, yes, unless she felt like it. The usual reasons. For after all, if anyone knew what she was, her head would be wanted. Or rather, should she say, her fur. Hohoh, poachers~ "Castle Town, eh?" If he had challenged whether she would have actually tested the lips theory, then they would have been heading in the same direction. Everybody would have won. At the thought, she mentally smirked. It would have been a pretty gruesome sight to see. Slowly, she turned on her heels, facing towards the horizon and the setting sun as she breathed in the refreshing scent of dusk. "As for me, you could say I was hunting. Roaming around. Whatever floats your boat." It wasn't exactly a lie, but it wasn't close enough to the truth, either. "Then I happened to hear someone, namely you, approaching in the distance, and decided to drop dead. Bringing us to the present. Yes?" She smiled, without turning around. Again, she forgot to explain the vital piece as to why she decided to "die" in the middle of the road, but it would not be too difficult to deduce the answer oneself, just by judging her character. |

Well, to be honest, Cameo was enjoying himself. It's not often that he gets to speak to someone about, well, anything he wanted to. Normally it would be about something business related, so this was kind of nice. He rarely got to indulge in the pleasures of casual conversation, so he didn't really mind getting home rather late.
He couldn't help but notice that Koshkal seemed more night-oriented. It wasn't really that big of a deal, he just found it interesting. His plans for the day certainly didn't involve finding someone dead on the road, watching them wake up, and then having a nice chat with them. Hopefully nobody's plans consisted of that, but you can't really be too sure with some people. Come to think of it, she's got some attentive hearing if she heard me from that distance.
"Hunting, eh? I would ask you what for, but I think I'm a little scared to find out the answer." Cameo said. His words were accompanied by a light laugh. He could only assume that she was hunting for someone that would fall for her tricks, in which case he was her prey. What exactly that entitled him to do, well, he was unsure; hopefully him being the hunted was strictly metaphorical. [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] As a monster, Koshkal never really saw a point in getting some sort of job to collect rupees, or establish a home somewhere amongst fellow people. She was a roamer, and not to mention as a beast, a bit nomadic, in a way. She was still young, but even at her age, she had seen much along her wanderings. It wasn't that odd that, also traveling alone, she had acquired a hefty amount of knowledge and intelligence, and skills, of course, to help her survive against the evils in Hyrule. Ironic for her to call them evils. The one named Cameo seemed to fall silent for a few moments, causing the wolfos to turn back around to face him, the dancing shadows of dusk playing across his face as she pondered what he might be thinking of. It wasn't long before she found out. Hohoh~ The more questions he asked, the deeper he fell into her trap. Well, not trap, per se, but pit of confusion. Yes, that was a much better name for it. The Pit of Confusion! Consuming all in Koshkal's path, leaving unawares stumbling to their knees! If you can't keep up, then it's game over. "What if I said I was in search of people to eat? A wonderful victim to devour of pilfer from~ Or maybe I was looking for hidden treasure, buried at the center of the world?" Even with her singsong voice, it might have been difficult to discern her seriousness... or lack thereof. She really needed to get out of the habit of implying she ate people. She really didn't. Just by looking at one, they didn't seem very appetizing, and the wolfos could not understand how or why some fellow monsters would bother. Ah well. It wasn't her problem if they ended up believing her. out-of-cake // same to you, bawkbawk!! x> |

The very thought that the girl before him would ever eat people almost amused him with how ludicrous it was. Then again, he still believed she was a Sheikah. The treasure part, however, he could believe. Based on the small bit he knew about her, he could see her dungeon crawling for some untold treasures. Maybe one day, when the princess didn't need him, of course, he could accompany the Wolfos on one of these adventures, but perhaps he was thinking too far ahead.
"Well, if you ate people I would probably tell you that I wouldn't taste very good and that you should refrain from eating me. If you were hunting for treasure, I might ask if there was any way I could help. Then again, you didn't openly state either of those things, so my answers are pretty much irrelevant." Both options sounded rather strange, but he tried to answer none the less.
"And I assume that playing dead is one of your favorite hunting mechanisms?" The question was more or less meant to be a joke, but he kept his tone normal as he asked it. Perhaps he was subconsciously interrogating the girl, but he had absolutely no way of knowing it. Either way the question was already out there, and he stood by it. [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] sometimes she wondered if becoming a treasure hunter would be any more interesting than what she was doing in the present. certainly, she would reap the rewards and get rich quick, and as fun as it sounded, she was actually a social person, believe it or not. the thought of treasure hunting also brought up the fact that she would either do so alone, or with a party of people whom she knew, meaning they would be used to her little tricks and schemes. fun, yet not fun at the same time. hm. at cameo's response, koshkal thought of an interesting fact. ''people always say they aren't tasty, but how exactly would they know that? have you ever tried biting off your arm, plenty-of-things?" it was a question asked with genuine curiosity, because, well, it was rather true of the world. ''besides, if anything actually ate people, i think it wouldn't really care for taste, so long as it got food.'' it was good to know she would have a treasure hunting companion, regardless. though that sounded great enough, it would probably turn out to be an offer the sheikah would regret, for knowing koshkal, if she had actually been serious about this whole treasure business, she likely would have taken every chance to drag him away to new places that needed to be discovered, whether he had the time or not. at least, until she got bored of him. very fortunate that she was not so bent on the idea. at least not at the current moment. at his remark in regards to her little trick, the ainur seemed to have a glint of pride in her eyes as she nodded in all seriousness. ''hunting, hiding, fooling--it's a little trick, you could say. and believable, ne?'' of course, she was careful not to use it excessively or reveal the truth without thought, lest the whole town hear of some girl who could play dead. then everyone would stop caring, and it wouldn't be any fun. here was an exception, though. out-of-cake // this is one of the jankiest computers in the world. forgive any missing o's and caps and other random things. and. those quote marks are lies. |

After all, some of us eat other living things and we still have preferences." Cameo wasn't defending the people-eater in question, just trying to view things from a neutral standpoint. Before he forgot, he had to throw in an extra statement. "And no, I've never actually tried human flesh."
"A little trick? You had no pulse and you weren't breathing. That's better than any mere parlor trick." He couldn't help but comment on her abilities to feign death; mainly because they were undeniably impressive. "Where, if you don't mind me asking, did you learn such a feat?" It was human nature to be curious, and if he asked too many questions she would surely tell him; so he might as well try to find his limits in terms of interrogation. Well, that, and it might be a nice thing to learn when he had some free time.
As he waited for an answer, he pushed some stray, white hairs out of his line of site and tucked his hands in his coat pockets. It was slowly growing colder, but all in all it was rather nice out. Unfortunately, a light breeze blew by and moved those hairs right back where they shouldn't be. This time around the boy just kept his hands in his pockets, deciding that fixing his hair was trivial. [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] "Fair enough," was her simple response. She knew all too well that monsters "were people, too," with emotions and sentient minds and all that jazz. But that also did not mean there weren't monsters out there that were completely bent on death and killing. As usual, digressing. She grinned at the sheikah, and added, "Even I would be shocked if you had. You don't seem the type." Of course, that was judging by appearances. As usual, the topic of her little fabricated play brought about a good deal of interest. Not that she spoke of it all that much, but whenever she did, there was a high chance that she would be asked the how. That was a difficult question to answer, in her opinion. The act was somewhat normal for her, should she say. "It's not like a skill I learned for the heck of it," She started. Although now, it proved to be a very useful trick for her casual and serious ploys. "Just a natural thing I had to adapt with... To survive." She paused in her speech, licking her lips in thought, although she seemed completely lax about it. Before long, she held up an index finger, as if to make a point. "Similar to how archers can control their breathing and stop their hands from shaking as much." It was an easy comparison to make, even if their reasoning was different. |

Cameo had never heard of any Sheikah growing up and being required to learn such skills, but he wouldn't judge. There are places he hasn't visited, and they may very well be filled with tribes of people fighting for survival. As he thought about it though, some things about this girl just didn't seem to add up. Which lead him to his next question.
"To have to learn such a thing to survive, wow. You must have had a difficult upbringing." Immediately after he spoke, he regretted saying it. Speaking of someone's life like that wasn't exactly the nicest thing to do, but he felt that if he apologized Koshkal might use it as some way to play her games with him again. Of course, if she took offence he would probably say he was sorry until he went hoarse, if it came to that, anyway.
For a moment he thought about the comparison she made to archery. He wasn't an archer himself, but he did know a bit about it. Occasionally when he would talk to a guard while strolling around the castle they would tell him about their abilities with the bow; the even went as far as to ask him to practice with them. He declined, saying that it wasn't his forte, but for some reason they would still spoon-feed him stories of their arching feats. What is it with guards that makes them want to gloat all the time, man? [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] Despite the somewhat careless commentary, the wolfos paid little mind to it. Unlike a majority of the people in the world, she was not one to be offended easily, and was clearly the type who was more often than not the offender. Fortunately enough, her young stature gave way to forgiveness in most people, especially the adults, whom always seemed to have the one-track mind of, "Oh, they're just a kid, they'll grow out of it, it's a phase, etc."Would she ever "grow out of it?" Even she didn't know the question, but she highly doubted it. She was a monster, after all. "Haha, it's not that bad. Life is life, and as we may or may not know, life isn't fair." Half of a smile creased on her lips. "That's why you just have to grab it by the tail and throw it into a volcano. Live life to the absolute fullest and all that crap people tend to spew at you." That was why she was alive. She had no ultimate purpose as most people may have had. She wasn't aspiring to become the greatest hero or villain of all time, nor was she trying to save or destroy the world. She didn't even have a simple goal of inheriting a business or fortune (she was an orphan, anyways). It was kind of sad to think about actually: She was playing a pointless game of life, waiting for her time to end. Koshkal's gaze shifted momentarily to spy the darkening sky. "So Castle Town?" It was a rhetorical question, as her eyes followed down the path. "If you're in a hurry, we should get going, lest you want Stalfos to pop up and waste more of your time." A casual smirk, and less-than-subtle subject change, deliberate or not. |

In the end, if you didn't try to take control of life you would get trampled. He didn't want much out of life, really; just to make sure the ones he cares about were safe. Whether or not that involved joining some greater cause was too unclear, but he would if that's how things ended up. Seeing as how the people he care about are mostly in the Royal Family, joining some war to protect them isn't actually that unlikely.
"We should get going?" He teased. "I can only assume you'll be accompanying me then~" Taking his hands out of his pockets, he took a moment to stretch. "Well, as much as I would love a nice tag-team fight, I suppose you're right. Shall we?" He took a few steps forward before stopping and making a gesture towards Castle Town.
Come to think of it, Cameo realized that Koshkal had changed the subject. Could she have done it to avoid talking about her past? I hope I didn't strike a nerve... Oh well, what's done is done. He decided to steer clear of asking her personal questions for now. At least until he got more acquainted with her; well, if he could get more acquainted with her. [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] Ah, so he caught on to her implications. As if to make the obvious further obvious, she threw her hands in the air, shrugging her shoulders in a whimsical manner. "But of course!" She declared. "If I had actually died here, you would probably have to take me back anyways. Be glad you won't have a dead weight on your back." She winked lightly. It probably would have been better that she returned to Town anyways. It wasn't a home, but there was at least some food to pilfer, or, if she felt generous, attempt to buy with whatever earnings she had, which was never much (If one couldn't notice, she wasn't very materialistic, unless it came to weapons, that is). "So we shall~" Koshkal nodded, following after the teen a few seconds after he. "I'd suggest a race, but that seems more boring than it sounds," If she said it out loud, Cameo would probably protest, but she believed she would probably outrun him in a matter of moments, sheikah or not. "And you probably don't feel like running anyways," She laughed, remembering how, as she lay on the ground, the pacing of the footsteps only sped up so much. |

Besides, walking along this pathway in the cool night air felt rather nice. He exhaled slowly, watching a small cloud of white trail upwards from his lips.
"So, do you actually live in Castle Town?" The question was mainly asked to keep a flow of traveling small talk, but picking up tidbits of information would be pretty cool. Although he said it might be fun earlier, the boy was rather glad that no hostile creatures were poking their ugly heads out. It was nice to indulge in casual conversation with a possible friend.
Honestly, Cameo thought he could do this forever; just talking peacefully with someone while basking in the cool air. Unfortunately though, things weren't as easy. Dark times were coming, and they were coming fast. For the moment he just wanted to enjoy this; whatever this was, exactly, he couldn't be quite sure. He just knew that he found it enjoyable. [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] "Ah, yes, and that too." The teen confirmed with a slow nod, directed mostly to herself. In a way, the motion also served as a reminder of the play she was currently taking part in. Although stirring some panic would have been fun.Koshkal was well aware that if she held too many secrets about herself, people were bound to get curious and poke their little noses where it didn't belong. Which is why she made a careful note to herself of things she believed she could talk freely about without stirring a conspiracy, and things to keep shut about. Casual things regarding her lifestyle was one such free subject. It may have earned some sympathies and pity looks, but it mattered little to her. As she walked, she crossed her arms behind her head and looked along the path they followed with a thoughtful grunt. "I don't actually live anywhere in particular, eh." Came the ever-blase reply, as though it was a common aspect. "A bit fun to just wander around, really. You can go anywhere you want for however long and not have to worry about HQ." Naturally, the first thought that may have came to mind was endurance. To sleep out in cold nights or hot summers (did seasons exist in the zeldaverse?), but of course, the wolfos was typically one with nature, and if not that, very adaptable to her surroundings. |

It raised a few more questions, but he thought most of them were too personal for the time being. Instead, he just grunted, a small "hmm" of understanding, if you will. It was completely reasonable that someone would want to move around, plenty of adventuring and whatnot. He preferred to settle in the Castle with this "family", however.
"I can see how that would have it's advantages." He started off. "Nowhere to come home to means nowhere to worry about." Once again, he felt as if he had said something that could be taken out of context. "I... erm... I didn't mean it like that." He tried to save himself, but he ended up feeling awkward; not exactly a foreign concept for awkward little Cameo.
Hoping that Koshkal's response wouldn't be an angry one, he walked silently and waited. The sounds of their footsteps on the road in the dead of night were both comforting and intimidating. All he could really do at this point was hope for the best, but then again, that's really any all of us can do~ [/style] | [bg=#000000][style=color:#911616;font-family:Monotype Corsiva; text-align:center; font-size:15pt;]Let’s pretend we don’t exist~[/style] | [bg=#000000][atrb=style,border-radius:0px 0px 25px 0px;][style=color:#ECECEC;padding:10px 20px 10px 20px;font-size:8pt;font-family:georgia]★ CREDITS;; Ryuujn of Love Stamp★ TAGS;; Koshkal ★ NOTES;; ♫ [/style] |

[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,5px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] She began to nod as the duo came to a minor consensus, although somewhere along the way, it would appear Cameo thought he had said something inappropriate. Was that the first time? She was unsure, as she didn't keep track of such minor "offenses." At his stuttering, the wolfos laughed out loud, for she saw or heard nothing he needed to feel guilty about. "It's all right, Plenty-o'-Things!" She quickly regained composure, adjusting her hat for the umpteenth time as she grinned, canines flashing for a brief moment. Should she have pretended to be angry with him, just for kicks? Knock him down and walk all over him? Hah. She was mean at times, but not that mean. "It's the truth, anyways~" In her mind, the phrase took two meanings: The original meaning that the sheikah was going for, that she wouldn't have to worry about home, and her less-innocent interpretation that having no home meant she could go around and wreck every other place as she wanted. She shook her head mentally. That certainly didn't make her out to be an incredible bad guy. Not to mention the soothing silence that tempted her into tricking her comrade again. It was a battle in her mind; a great debate. She could, and she should, for it was her nature, but if he was in the slightest hurry, she wouldn't want to get him in trouble. Goddesses, Koshkal, are you a good guy, or a bad guy? |
