The hot, blistering sun of the desert, scorching the sands of the Gerudo by day, and departing from their grace at night; the Desert was arguably the most dangerous place in all of Hyrule. For Shavir, it was a place of relaxing peace. Being a dragon by blood and true form, the hot sun and dry atmosphere came as a refreshment to him. He fared well in the mountains, but the desert was ultimately his favorite location. The monsters were relatively harmless to him, and the ones that did act as though to harm him soon met their deaths.
Even though he remained in his human form most of the time, and had spent a long period of time in the desert, he had never once been captured or confronted by the Gerudo. He had a talent for staying out of their way, and avoiding them. It wasn't a major concern of his, as he knew he had the ability to quickly escape, but it was simply a stroke of luck and a little bit of effort.
Eventually though, as any experienced gambler could tell you, luck doesn't last forever, and do the same thing over and over, and eventually a different result is bound to happened. And so it did. Two Gerudo women walked the man in front of them, pushing him forth so he stumbled along into the fortress, struggling to maintain his footing.
They had confiscated his blade, which he disliked greatly, and had him bound behind his back by thick rope. Looking around at the fortress, he smiled, and kept a calmed, almost relaxed looks of pleasantry upon his face. "Take me to Marry Rick Drage-Murr!" He yelled out, smirking and winking at one of the Gerudo women. She returned his gesture with a strong punch to his gut. Coughing slightly, he laughed and continued forth.
They had obtained him as he traveled through the desert, simply walking, and refused to speak to anyone but Merik.

"Mare-ick Drag-mire." A voice called from nearby where a cloaked figure and a guard stood speaking. After the figure handed a letter to the guard it pulled back its hood and strode towards the captive.
"Now would you care to tell me who you are, why you're trespassing in my lands, and why I should spare your life for interrupting my business?"

Pushed forth, he fell to his knee's and looked up to the man as he came forth from the sidelines, removing his hood. The name, pronounced correctly, would of normally caused a small case of the chuckles to envelope his gut; the demeanor of the situation changed however, and he quickly moved to a more serious disposition.
"Do not insult me, Merik Dragmire, King of Gerudo. I am a Dreadnought whom has walked these lands every day for months now. The desert is soothing to me." He snorted, and from his nose escaped a small trail of smoke and fire, enough to light a torch perhaps. It was simply a show of his true nature; if Merik could piece together that he was a dragon or not was not important. "So, my lord. If you would not free a man and speak to him as another man, then perhaps you would free a monster, and speak to him in a civilized manner."

"You could have walked the desert every day of your life Dragon and it does not guarantee I would know you, my lands are vast." Merik growled as he summoned Flamestrike and slashed through the ropes. "And I shall speak to you how I choose, the Emperor agreed to the terms that if any of his people strayed too close to the Fortress, or any of mine strayed behind the Gate, unauthorized it could be construed as an act of war and the intruder executed. Consider yourself lucky that you were in human form and I'm in a good mood."
The King paused as he took the Dreadnought's blade from the guards and waved them away, testing the weight and feel of it before tossing it and catching the blade carefully. He then offered the hilt back to Shavir.
"Now what is it that you want Dreadnought, I'm sure you've got some reason for being so close."

Shavir was, by some accounts, an unpredictable bastard. As the ropes were cut and blade returned, he rose to his feet and took it back quickly. Shavir had been tempted to simply escape, but why do that. The rumors he heard from the travelers was rather true. Merik Dragmire, King of Gerudo's, had a relative kind side.
"I do, and it is personas business. Not to say that it isn't your business though, as I owe you a drink for your hospitality." He laughed again, crossing his arms. "Your not the ruthless executioner some say you are. Your definitely hiding a soft spot." Shavir did not reveal his business immediately, he wanted to see the Kings response first.
This whole situation was nothing short of risky, but risks made gains, and gains made friends.

"More common sense than a soft spot: it would cause me more trouble to kill you, much less everything else Nightmare sent my way after finding out, than to let you walk away; trying to imprison you would just be foolish. I've got important matters to attend to so I can't be bothered with a war at the moment or a pissed off, trapped dragon.." Merik said as he kept his eyes locked with the Dreadnought's, though he was being mindful of the blade in case the Shavir decided to attack.
"So you have business for me? Let's hear what you've got before I leave."

Shavir nodded. Logical; he could call it what he wanted, the dragon chose to see it how he wished. "I don't expect something for nothing, especially from a King. Our friendship is only but just been born." He sighed sarcastically, retying the blade to his belt.
"You say you have issues to attend to. Perhaps if you would require my aid, we could come to an understanding about me having free roam of your desert." He asked generously, but if Merik didn't have any combat related or travelling issues then it would be of no use to him. Political affairs where of no concern to him. Using him to travel across land though, or take care of some other business, would be beneficial.

"So you're looking for free reign to travel through my lands...I may be able to assist you with that and perhaps a little more depending on what you're willing to do for me." Merik said, ideas already forming in his mind.
He had warriors, he had mounts and vessels, but the major thing that he lacked was a reliable spy within the Emperor's court and depending upon the Dragon's loyalty he could have the makings of a great informant.
"So do you have your own lair, or does the Emperor keep you all within his big eyesore?"

"I am mostly on free roam. He hasn't called for his dreadnoughts at all recently. I'm not even sure if he realizes who I am to be honest, which is fine. I'm not very egotistical." He stroked his chin, thinking for a moment. Merik was asking about Nightmare now, and the Dragon wasn't to sure what he was going to do himself. He wasn't quite catching the drift of treason yet, but whats the worse that could happened.
"What exactly do you have in mind?"

"Years ago when Nightmare and I first began to meet to plan for the future, we had discussed the possibility that we would combine our forces into a single unstoppable power. It could have been the greatest show of military strength in the history of the world but unfortunately the Emperor's short-term greed blinded him to what we could have had. I continue to hold out hope for the fulfillment of that dream but I know it will never come while Nightmare Darklight holds the throne. But that's neither here nor there, with the mass of races that fight under the Emperor's banner any of them could make a grab for power at any time." Merik said, the meaning behind his words only barely veiled.
"All I would ask of you is to be my eyes and ears in the Black Land, a task not completely bereft of danger but not overly difficult for one such as yourself. In return you could come and go across the desert as you please, and of course if you found anything particularly fascinating other rewards could follow."

The dragon nodded, considering the task of betrayal with....ease. He wasn't accepting it with ease, but the idea came to him without too many troubles. Looking around the fortress, he quickly realized how large and heavily guarded it was. The Gerudo were not one of communications either. Rumors, or word of him staying at the fortress, would remain within the walls, and if confronted by Nightmare, he could easily work his way out of it...he hoped.
"Betraying Nightmare is quite a daunting task. You realize free roam of the desert is a small price to pay for you. Allow me to stay at your fortress when I desire, and hunt in your desert on the prey of my choice, and I will agree." Although this was starting out as a wagering match, Shavir had a feeling he would fine some welcome in the fortress.

Merik considered the Dragon's offer for a short time before responding with his counter.
"You can stay in the fortress for three days following a report and have free reign in the desert, assuming your prey does not interfere with any Gerudo. It's too risky that a foe might spot you here and put things together."

It seemed they had come to an understanding. "Fair enough." And with that he figured there was little to nothing left for him in this fortress. Perhaps he would stay awhile, he wasn't sure. Meet some of the Gerudo women, test their skills in combat. They could probably teach him a thing or two about combat in his human form.
"Anything I need to know about this place then?" He was somewhat still uneasy about the offer he accepted. Although loyal, Nightmare hadn't shown much effort to his monsters as of late. Shavir knew that crossing the King would yet prove to be nothing more than a mistake in the long run.....the choice was not easy.

"We don't take kindly to outsiders so if you want any sort of pleasantness during your stay I'd recommend paying attention to things around you and see if you can find something to help out with over the next few days. Speak with Kotone or Ruma and tell them that I said to set you in the guest quarters, the ACTUAL guest quarters mind you. I don't know how long I'll be gone but if anything comes up you'll report to them in my absence." Merik said as a guard approached with his horse. The King nodded at the guard as he began slipping packs onto the horse.

He nodded, observing the horse with delight. He wasn't a fan of their meat, it was a little to weak for his taste. They weren't bad though he had only had a few. He figured Merik did not plan on utilizing his ability to fly. With his size, he could easily carry Merik and the horse, if tied to his feet, to the edge of the desert. Although it would be bad if anyone recognized the two, so it was probably best that way.
"Understood. A strange way to make an alliance, but an alliance nonetheless." He extended his hand out for a firm shaking. "I suppose you will be taking your leave then?"
