Jericho caught the sword. A move not expected from the hawk. Gavin was able to wrench the blade from Jericho's grip, but by the time that had occurred, Jericho had rushed him with incredible force, almost unheard of for the distance he had to charge. Gavin was sent flying towards the mountain. Before he was slammed into the ground, he used his wings to brace himself, and instead as he hit the ground he was able to slide across the sands, backed up quite a distance. Once again he took to the sky. His wings were unharmed, but he took quite the blow.
Circling around the island like a vulture, locating and stalking Jericho. Rather than go for a straight dive bomb like last time, he circled around during his descent. As he reached the ground, he whirled his sword around one time and when in for a diagonal strike, right to left across Jericho's body.
Jericho grimaced as the blade cut across his flank, leaving a thin wound. It wasn't fatal, but it would certainly need to be bandaged later on. As the Oocca was sent back, Jericho turned and noticed his bomb had not gone off, and was not lit. Moaning, he sprinted back over to it, and picked it up.
"Damnit."
He turned back to see Gavin circling and preparing his second attack. This was not how Jericho had expected the fight to go, as he had not factored flight into the fight. Either way, he as a pirate for Nayru's sake.
As Gavin came down with a diagonal slash, he dropped the bomb into his pocket and lifted Behemoth to block his opponents sword in a parry.
Gavin thought he would be able to win this battle through speed. Looking at the sword Jericho wielded, it should be cumbersome and unwieldy. He managed to parry the first attack with relative ease, but now Gavin was striking faster. Across, diagonal, up-down, all sorts of strikes were being unleashed, waiting for Jericho to slow down and lose his stride.
Jericho was obviously unaware that Gavin thought his blade was cumbersome- which it would be were it not for the magical properties. It was something he had taken for granted, the ability to swing around a giant weapon at the speed of a dagger.
As the flurry of attacks were unleashed, the pirate blocked a few, dodged one, and at one instance had the tip of his bandanna cut, just slightly. At least it wasn't his hair because, you know, he really cares about his hair. Using his gauntlet, he blocked one of the attacks, and immediately jumped back, putting distance between the two.
"Damn Fast...." He muttered, a worried smirk spreading across his face.
Sliding his hand into his pocket, took a defensive stance, prepared to counter the next attack.
Jericho did have a little trouble keeping up with Gavin's speed, but his wielding of what was a large blade was extraordinary. Needless to say the oocca was quite impressed.
Bandanna hits didn't count. Jericho was ready for Gavin to approach again. He started to come in for another attack, but stopped. He saw Jericho's hand in his pocket and thought back to Jericho's use of bombs. Gavin had to be careful, so instead of going for Jericho he hustled forward, before faking twice and going for Jericho's hand to disrupt his inevitable use of bombs.
The double fake defiantly tricked Jericho, as he didn't see it coming a second time. As Gavin came in for his hand, he attempted to draw the bomb and retreat. It was a failing move though, as he struck Jericho's arm with ease. The Gauntlet luckily guarded most of the damage, although he did flinch from the force, and drop the bomb in the sand. Swiping at Gavin with his blade, he dropped into a roll to the side and grabbed the bomb.
It didn't take long before Jericho realized his bomb had been set during the conflict though...and for some reason this one had an extra long fuse. His eyes widened and he looked to Gavin, throwing it to him as quickly as possible.
"Ah!"
He was still somewhat close to Gavin, and thus tossed the bomb up in the air towards Gavin. "Hot Potato!!!!" As the bomb reached its arch and began falling, Jericho began running backwards away from Gavin.
Rather than play hot potato with the bomb, Gavin instead decided to play bomber and flew up high, circling around, one eye on Jericho and one eye on the bomb's long fuse.
Unfortunately, Gavin wasn't sure how much time the fuse indicated. Bombs were not his specialty. He let the fuse run down too far and by the time he threw it down it was too late. The bomb went off in the air. Rather than curse his inexperience, he instead used the explosion as a cloud to dive again and try and get Jericho good. However, his leading attack was coming from his dagger at the side, rather than his longsword from up front. Hopefully the surprise factor would give him the upper hand.
As Gavin came down at him through the plume of smoke, he pulled his sword forth and jabbed it into the ground, pommel pointing to the sky. Quickly grabbing it, hoisting himself up in a single, fluid movement, he balanced himself, and awaited for his opponent to get just a little closer.
He was already slightly wounded, this one could possibly hurt a little more, but he had no fear of death. Using Bum Rush once the Oocca was in range, he figured his accuracy might not be perfect enough to land the maximum amount of damage, but he could hopefully hit the Oocca with some serious force.
He wasn't to afraid of leaving his sword either, as it weighed 600 pounds to the normal foe.
If an explosion could have emerged from the resulting collision, there would have been. From Gavin's aerial assault to Jericho's ability to charge like that it created a lot of pressure in the center. Gavin was flung back into the air wildly, luckily there was nothing in his path to crash into. Eventually he was able to right himself using his massive wings before he crashed into the water, but something felt wrong. One of his wings was strained under the pressure of the turbulence and he needed to stop. Putting his sword away he flew awkwardly back to the island.
"Something's wrong with my wing. I need to tend to it." Injuries were never a reason to stop fighting, but for Gavin he made an exception for his wings. They were his primary method of travel after all.
As Gavin returned, Jericho had his blade resting over his back, his arms crossed. He had a feeling they were stopping, and for good reason. Blood was still seeping from the flesh wound at his ribs. "Hahaha, to the boat." Walking past Gavin, he grabbed the mans shoulder and nudged him to follow.
"We can patch ourselves up, and if you can't fly, I'll row us back."
Leaning into the rowboat, he pulled out the first aid kit and pulled out some bandages, then offered it to Gavin. "Your fast."
"I'm the fast one? You're the one who can wield a giant stone slab with little effort." He was still astonished by the fact that he could wield the blade.
"Anyway, good fight. I think trying to stabilize myself during that last collision hurt something back there. Nothing's broken, I wouldn't have been able to fly back here if that were the case. But I appreciate the rowing offer. Now that I think about it, you came here with a map. Didn't you want to do something with that?" It was just one of those things that confused the oocca. His original purpose involved a map. Now he had a chest wound, nothing fatal, but it would scar.
"Hahahaha!" He laughed hardily, bandaging his chest up as he sat on the boat. It was true, he had the map still on him, and there could very well be a treasure inside. Even so, he no longer had a desire to go look. Mostly because the map was probably a fake, but if it wasn't, then it didn't really matter. He already found a treasure.
"Nah, the map gave me a fight I won't forget, and a reminder to work on my defense. That's the treasure of knowledge, and is worth more than all the riches in the world." If it kept him alive longer, it was useful, more so than money.
"Eh, and the sword is...." He grunted slightly. "Its got some magic to it."
Gavin didn't really blame Jericho for abandoning the map. It was a silly endeavor to begin with, and he had other problems to deal with. In the meantime, Gavin stretched out his left wing, grimacing slightly but the pain was subsiding.
"Magical blade? Makes sense, I don't think anyone would carry that around without it possessing some magic. Not to offend, but it does appear unwieldy." He certainly was not a stupid warrior. Knowledge was important.
"You need any help with the bandages? That was a long cut, if a bit shallow. If I remember, you tried to catch the blade. You may want to avoid that in the future."
"Ha, yes, I intended to use only the gauntlet, but as you can see." He did not remark on the bandaging part; as he spoke, he finished tying the bandage and dressing it. Leaning into the row boat, he nodded to Gavin, and began preparing to take off. This Island was of no use to him.
"It is weightless in my hands and contains the ability to cut through, rip through, shred through almost any material. Armor is very weak to it, and as a Pirate, I deal with a lot of armor."
Grabbing the ores, he looked over to Gavin. "Perhaps I'll see you another time then! It was fun, Gavin." With that, he pushed the boat off, and began rowing away.
Ha. He should have known Jericho was a pirate. Not that it changes anything of course. Jericho seemed to be ready to head out whenever so he pushed off and set sail.
"Fun indeed, Jericho. Perhaps again." Jericho was gone now, and Gavin was ready to go as well. His wings spread, still a tad painful, but not nearly enough to be cumbersome. At least enough to get to the mainland. And so he took flight, heading back to Hyrule proper for some more training and adventures.
