"Nah, all is well. I can hunt any time but running into such an interesting individual is pretty rare." Usually he wasn't the friendly, complimenting kind but she peaked his interest and acting cold towards her wouldn't sit right with him.
Gazing ahead, he could see it would quite the walk, a little more than ten or so minutes to exit the lake, if he kept this brisk pace. Grabbing the lapels of his coat with both hands, he idly adjusted it although it needed no fixing, just something he did while thinking. Glancing to the side, he saw that Aeretheryn had assumed her miniature form though no idea why. She probably had some hidden reason for it. His question, however, would be steered towards something else.
"So...do you jump off of bridges often?" Thinking back, he never asked this question directly, so it would be used now to turn the tide of the conversation to a good one and away from anything violent as it was before.

The flattery brought Aereth to a girlish giggle. He had seemed so irritated with her before that now the compliments seemed to be enhanced tenfold. So far, she was rather happy with how things were turning out, not that any particular day ever truly diminished her happiness. She was quite a cheerful person on all occasions. In this instance, though, she was pleased that he had chosen the longer path so that she may have the excuse to accompany him longer. Having company was, quite honestly, something she lived for.
The man kept quite a rapid pace, but it was not too quick for the fairy to keep up with. At least, not too quick while she was in ball form. In her full form she would have preferred to go slower to elongate the trip, but in the end she would not want to inconvenience him further.
His question did not require much thinking. Still, her mind wandered into many thoughts that it triggered. Most of all, she recalled the invigorating feeling she was overwhelmed with in the fall. It was a sensation like no other. Lost in her thoughts, the little fairy had dropped a few feet in the air. She promptly zipped back up in the air then took a seat on the hurried man’s shoulder (so that she would not sound winded) to answer his question after a long moment of silence.
“If you had the advantage I do, would you not try it simply for the thrill of it?” the cheery little voice questioned. “It was my first time, but I do wonder why I have never thought of it before. It is quite an exciting feeling...As if you have put your life in the hands of nature, the gravity of the world pulling you towards its embrace, the wind whipping around you tickling every bit of skin you forgot existed...” Okay, it was starting to sound strange.
“What of you, Sir Vincent? Do you often follow others in jumping from high places?”

"Probably not. Jumping off of high places to feel all that jazz, nah, doesn't sound like me. I prefer the heat of battle to get my adrenaline rush. Nothing like dancing with death to get the blood going."
Indeed it was true. Vincent was a man of battle and enjoyed that lifestyle. Whenever he had free time, he went off to the mountains to start small skirmishes with the monsters up there because it was fun. Even as powerful and skilled as he was, there was still a chance he'd slip up and take an arrow to da face or throat and that would be the end of him.
"As for leaping off of high places in pursuit of another, not really. It was by chance that a merchant wagon was nearby with a tarp that I could use to slow my fall when I jumped off after you. If it wasn't there, I probably wouldn't have. A fall from that height-" He said as he pointed over his shoulder with his thumb. "-would surely killed me upon hitting the water. Though I still would of found a way down here to see if you were alright."
When was this valley going to come to an end? He didn't mind spending some time with her but he'd like to put his mind at rest that there was an exit out of here.
